After getting 3 punctures in the Schwalbes on one ride and about to do IOW flinity tracks! I’ve now gone for the Maxxis Ignitor front and Ikon rear. Pumped up tubless first time without home made pressure bottle needed ro teh schwalbes! I paid the extra for the EXO version for added strength…these tyers look and feel so much better than the Schwalbes and according to reports last a lot longer! and only a few grams heavier!
    Time will tell!

Reaction GTC Sl….So my update for the followers…7 weeks in and loving it! where i was always close behind up the hills i’m 500meters in front these days…Cheating you say! my mates had lighter bikes so now its my turn! manage to keep up on the downhills also although cant throw it around as well as the 26er.
Bad points for me The tyres! I can’t be bothered waiting 3 days to ensure they stay inflated as tubeless, very puncture prone! ( i’ve used protection thats thicker than the Schwalbes! so kept to tubes but got 3 flats in a single ride ride. Now paranoid of getting a flat and also paranoid that putting on some propper rubber will slow things down again.
A lot of flex in the rear when power up in a high gear..cant work out if frame or wheel flex (heavy rider!)
Brakes good, with progressive braking not like my old Avids but rear does sound like a horse sometimes!
Forks OK but no way as good as Fox’s, lockout sometimes takes a while to dis-engage.
Seat was hard as nails…swapped straight away for my Fizik all comfy now!
Was holding onto my Stumpy just encase but its no brainier..time to sell her on!

On slipping off the granny ring..i’m concerned on how close the ring runs to the frame…thinking of going 2 x 10 I know the XT shifter can be set for either 2 x 10 or 3 x 10 is it just a case of removing the granny ring and setting the front mech?

My 29 GTC Sl has it! looks like its stuck on… not sute if the LBS does this when setting up? I still had the masking tape wraped round it and the frame.

Thanks again that worked…very surprised that a tyre would leak through the side wall when virtually brand new! how they can brand them tubless ready! .maybe tubeless ready as long as you use sealant!!

I’ll be going back to Kenda’s as soon as i’ve ruined these…which i suspect won’t be long!

    What a great cheap tool!

I had to go to 60 to get them up…However this was without the valve in..as soon as I deflate to put the valve in they go back to their saggy form! Tried with valve in but this restricts the bust of air. I reall

I’m leaving it inflated without valve for a few hours with sealent in do you think this will keep the beads locked in when i deflate again next?

So Tony whats the secrect formula for a home made compressor? don’t fancy spending £80 on a new one just to go tubeless 🙂

Arrgh! just tried for an hour to go tubless on my reaction 29er

I’m using the Stans cross country 29 rim strips. The Schwalb tyres are so light and flimsy that i can’t get the beads to move out of the centre channel. Am using a floor pump! any help to get these working tubless greatly appreciated

never had any issues on my 26 ZTr rims….

Ok first challenge already…does anyone know where I can get the technical manual for the SID RL forks the SRAM site seems to have a corrupt page. Having always had Fox forks these are new to me so want to see the specs for setup

Just got back from LBS with my new Reaction GTC SL 29er!

What a beast if it goes half as fast as it looks then i’ll be a happy chappie!

BTW the shop just got these in today and they told me they have 6 in stock so for those who have been hunting hi and low for one of these 29er’s get down to Climbon Bikes in Hereford!!!

A couple of posts here have said they have changed to 2 x 10 setup to be the same as an SL. All the SL’s I see for sale come as 3 x 10??
