200 riders started, 130 finished. Results up on the kielder 100 website.
We do have a smatering of pics which will be up prob tomorrow as we're still traveling home. Epic event , well done to everyone who came along and gave it a go , history was def made;0)

Well they were only expecting 100 riders to take up the challenge for this first one, so they are overwhelmed with the uptake. next year I'm sure it'll be based over Newcastleton way, at the Calvert Trust place I suspect. Plenty of room over there for everyone;0)

Yeah after a bit of a fight she's back up!!! Lets see if we've sorted out the problem,
    Phew!

Um we do delete some of the ones that don't quite make the mark….there are also quite a few that aren't named as I couldn't see the rider number, search the backend of the site ( when it's up and running again) do a search for images starting with a D31 or D32
You might be in there failing that (and it looks like I may have some time on my hands) I will post some pics of jam soon!

LOL…. In hand, the jar is sitting here on my desk top just waiting 🙂

Yeah, that was what made it fall over apparently:0( Everyone rushing to see the pics.
Unfortunately the Torq 12 images are held on my site which we cant access, until they turn it all back on, which is not looking hopeful.
At the mo I'm looking at alternative arragements…
This is nearly as much fun as the rash I picked up rolling in the ditch:0(

LOL Stumpy01. I'd love to give you advice but feathered birds aren't really something I've ever covered! I've certainly thought about it but just haven't found the time to haul myself out of my ditch!
You should be fine with the gear you have. One bit advice might be to switch the VR off, as it slows down the auto focus a tad which might not help. I rarely use VR, unless I have the after morning shakes or I'm sat in the back of a van;0)
I'm sure if it's a photo course they will give you plenty of the advice you need. Take your flash along they may be using birds that are used to posing and flashing so to speak:0) Good luck

MT – Ta, just need to be patient and see what happens by the looks of it they aren't being terribly helpful:0(

Yep shared service. Just annoyed that they gave no warning just turned off the switch and don't seem to bothered that it's affecting my business:0(
Guess I do have a contract as I paid up front, but their argument is that my site is affecting other sites on the server.

    Still working on it:0(

LOL. No everything is paid up front:0) That isn't the issue.
CPU is their issue. Usage apparently jumped from 5% to 20% overnight. Can't see it myself (especially as I can't access my data either) but they have the plug in their hands….

My hosting company, without warning has pulled the plug, disabling my domain yesterday lunch time. I am fighting hard to get it reinstated asap, please bare with me and hopefully normal service will resume soon….

Don't they're keeping anything secret to be honest. I know they are out there at the moment, riding the course and so I guess you'll get an update on the website next week. A map of the course can be found at Purple Mountain at Kielder.
It's not priding itself on being super tough Nick, it's just opening up the door to a new enduro experience. It is also advising that it will be hard, not on easy fire roads and is there as a challenge if you want to do it. They're really popular in the States at the mo.
It has to be up North as it's the only place they can feasibly find enough area to 'race' over offroad on one lap. It won't be suitable for everyone and more importantly it's a competitive race, not a 'ride' like a Merida. It will be a challenge and I guess is suitable for those who want to push themselves to see if they can do it, a bit like any enduro really. If someone wants to ride singlespeed then good on them, it's not part of the race requirement…
No doubt it will be tough, Kielder isn't at all flat and they are trying to ensure the majority of the race takes place offroad and not just on fire roads.
So far the entry list is a great mix of have a goes and 24 race whippets with everything in between.
Should be a grand day out.
Kit list and feed station info will be updated on the web probably by next week and I'm sure entrants will get an email with all this listed.
    See you out there;0)

Brilliant, good to hear that. I constantly battle with getting out on the bike for various reasons, but know when I'm out there it's excellent!

So yeah, that'd be cool, let me know what suits you, I'm easy. I was just waiting for someone not to be very fast so they wouldn't be too put off with how slow I ride these days:0)

Um yes Mr.Joolze went along to find about about the gum shield solution as he snores competitively for England….
Was okay until they told him that using it will rot his teeth, so we decided against that solution…
I find holding a pillow over his head works, until he turns blue… then I roll him onto his side….

This is off the xcracer website from the Timelaps guys…

"Hi Guys full results are here
http://www.timelaps.co.uk/assets/upload … 25/07/2009 and there is a rider comparison at the top of the results screen. As some of you will have noticed some 1st and 2nd lap times are out, unfortunately we had a technical issue which has affected the 1st lap time for a number of riders, this then has a knock on effect on to the 2nd lap time. Normally we would be able to sort this out but on this occasion its just not possible. Our apologies, we hope it doesn't dull what was a great event!!"

Nikon D3 comes with dual slots, enabling you to shot 1 image to both cards if you want as back up. Or shot raw to one and jpeg to the other.
Only ever had problems with CF cards when they weren't SanDisk( though I did pick up some dubious 'Sandisk' proving if it's too cheap then it's probably not the real thing..Doh!)
Cards of choice, 4Gb & 8Gb extreme 3. Fast enough and reliable.
I have sent a card off to a software recovery company in the past to retrieve info off a dud card. It was expensive and a lesson well learnt….

I was surprised to pick up a tick at the first round of the Gorricks this year. Especially as it was January, thought the blighters might not like the cold…
Mind you if I will lurk in ditches what do I expect….

Um… they looked in mine yesterday:0( Broke the lock off to have a nosey. Apparently you have more recourse if your bag gets pilfered than getting the airline to replace the lock they broke and kept:0( Not happy….
Funny but on the way out, nothing was checked, but on the way in both my hand luggage ( full of camera stuff so was expecting it..) and my hold luggage, full of the stuff it had on the way out were checked….
