Well in a similar incident I am renovating my house

I had picked up some solid wood flooring, which was pretty heavy, and was dropping it off at the new house

There were no parking spaces on the road outside. At the end of the row of houses, the end house has a bit of a driveway which had his car parked on it, and a dirt road next to that, which needs access for the people that live there

There is a single white line which runs for about 3 car lengths across the entrance for this guys drive and the dirt road

I put the van there (I know, the shame 🙄 ) while I unloaded about 10 heavy boxes of flooring

As soon as I had started carrying the first box to the house, I saw the curtains twitching and he was out.

    ‘You can’t park there’
‘I know, I’m not parked, I just need to unload a bit of flooring and then I’ll move the van’
‘I need it clear to get my car out’
‘Oh sorry, I didn’t know you were going out, just let me put this down and I’ll move it’
    ‘I’m not going out’
    ‘Sorry?’
‘I’m not going out, but if I was I want to be able to go when I please’
‘You can do. I’m here, just as me and I’ll move the van’
‘You’re not allowed to park there’
‘I’m not parked. I’m here, I have the keys, if you want to get your car out ask me and I can move it’

    Etc

Just gets my back up when people ruin your day for something that isn’t directly affecting them. I could see he the Tv was on in his front room, he just fancied giving somebody some shit. Yes probably by law I could be moved on by the police, but he was, in my eyes, just making my life difficult

Again, I’m not saying DD was doing anything wrong, I’m giving my reasons why I would choose not to say anything

    why is it trolling?
    I wasn’t saying you were.

Fair enough, you’d say nothing. Thanks for your input.

Ok, if you want a more detailed response, after spending time living next to meddlers who would take photos of me working on my bike and car on (my side) of the shared driveway (maintenance, not full on engine rebuilds or bodywork etc), and tell me they were going to the council/report me to the authorities, I find I have used up my patience of people telling me their opinions about what I am doing

I also spent some time in Germany where it seems the norm for complete strangers telling you not to do this or that

I’m not saying you were wrong, just that it wouldn’t bother me enough to say something

Just out of interest (and this @ton too if you want to engage instead of trolling my thread), and not trying to argue, are you saying you wouldn’t bother saying anything?

    why is it trolling?

I just have a different opinion

I would choose to say nothing

it’s been mentioned to me as I often have a very achy ribcage, and often get panicky and breathless when walking (thankfully not when riding)

I’ve got lyme disease and have been told that it can be related

I mostly feel very achy and weak

    I know some Ukrainians

I’m being told travelling between cities is becoming more and more impossible

They have also told me travel to Poland has been blocked

    I’m concerned

Yeah that’s called riding your bike.

The pads would be half gone if I put them on before getting to the big hill I use

wondering if I can get the plaster off

unfortunately the baths been fitted now or it might have been easier to pull off the plasterboard that has been plastered

I found I have to do it on the rear brake as otherwise it will eat a set of pads in a few hours of riding

I take the new ones with me on a ride, climb up to the top of a hill, put the new ones in, and blast down braking a few times

    thread resurrection

what was the guy called that had the big off trying to break the cycling speed record?

the footage was at a race track and he was carried off unconscious, then tried again a few months later

I am pretty sure he was french, but I don’t think it was the guy on the autobahn

Sims (RIP) boards were great! I loved the one I had.

My first board was a Sims, was a great board

swapped it for an Option, now I think I preferred the Sims

I did 6 months as a ski tech in NZ after a 2 day course in Cumbria

I do my own board now, just use an old iron for waxing, use a special brush for finishing the base (half brass wire, half plastic bristle)

    Use files for edges

When I was working as a ski tech the general feeling in the shop was that people tend to fall into 2 camps, never getting their ski’s serviced until they are knackered, or bringing them in after a few runs

I’d get an edging tool and a new fine file

Use the edging tool on the vertical edges

For the base edges wrap masking tape a few times around one end of the file, sit this taped side on the base and it will give you a slight angle and you can then run the file along the edge

And watch your wrists, if you slip a sharp edge will draw blood

yeah the car magazine thing is odd I know

It’s things like books and CD’s and clothes

They take up so much space, but I’m loathed to get rid as I still occasionally listen to my old CD’s, the 8 coats all seem to serve a different purpose

I need to de clutter, just not sure how ruthless I need to be
