Not that expensive but cracked my car windscreen. Got a new windscreen. Got some new wiper blades to fit after the window fitter had left. Twanged the wiper arm (without the blade on) onto the new window and smashed it. Got the window replaced again.

I did one of those laughs that comes out of your nose

mainly because it sounds exactly like the sort of thing that I do

They make up their own rules to get as much cash as possible

I don’t get how automatic renewals are say £600,you phone them up to leave and suddenly it’s £400

That’s dishonest at the very least

Unfortunately my sofa isn’t big enough to hide that kind of cash. Looks lovely though

I put a mk1 golf on it’s roof after taking all weekend fixing the head gasket – around £3500

My cousin once dropped a full tray of manuka honey, not sure if it was 12 or 18 jars at around £15 each

I’ve had similar problems, although I think mine started due to another undiagnosed medical issue

I tried the NHS and they were spectacularly disappointing in offering any real help.

I’m not saying it’s always the same, just in my case they were no use at all. Beta blockers and on my way, the tablets made me worse if anything.

I’ve had up and downs with it all over the years. I eventually had the other medical problem diagnosed (Lyme), but again through a private clinic. I was on treatment with them for around 18 months, and started improving, but I simply can’t afford £600-700 every few months.

With regards to the anxiety, what helped me was a guy that dealt with various relaxation, hypnotherapy, CBT type therapies. It took a long time, and I think I’m getting worse again, but I got lazy with the techniques. I am starting some of them again, and hope they will get me out of the cycle.

Best of luck with it all

Guessing you have never encountered actual stress then if you count Strava as stressful….

    I’d give up guessing then

Strava – just like cycling with less fun and added stress

which is admittedly just a bit of fun

I’m not sure about the prep, a gardener did it while I was away

I think there’s about 100mm or so of topsoil on top of gravel

The green strip on the right is plastic reinforcement mesh, the lawn did get soggy over winter, and I didn’t want a path. The grass is supposed to eventually pretty much hide it

mostly the other campers are French.

I’ve found this, somewhat unfortunately, is quite important 🙂

No, it’s a crap film in general. Typical Hollywood clichés. I just thought they could have got basic visual authenticity right.

Yup tracers are bright, but they are not lasers. I’m not a fan of CGI, but that was terrible

This is some footage of tracer rounds

The tracers are about half way through

Yes maxtorque the whole movie is pretty dire. I was half expecting the saving private ryan ringing in ears bits, it’s just that was the first thing to grate. Why try for visual authenticity and then have such unrealistic tracer rounds? They stuck out like a sore thumb. Awful.

I’ve got an eighties Italian road bike that’s chromed and then painted on top with a see through paint

Looks great, but I think chroming is ridiculously expensive these days

It won’t settle down, at least for a while.

Probably until they work out how to introduce a whole new standard for another part that will make them stacks of cash

I tried that sword show, but couldn’t get into it, despite it being the usual type of garbage I watch 🙂

I think it’s the whole sword thing, they just look bobbins

    Well done sir

Truly selfish behaviour. My next door neighbour thinks it’s fine to give my car a nudge to tell her when to stop while she’s parking. At least she used to..

    Some sanctimonious comments here

How do you know the circumstances that led to the unfortunate women’s death?

I agree the standards of driving are truly terrible, and some days you seem to cross paths with nothing but bad drivers

What annoys me more than anything is people who don’t pay attention

I was behind a golf on my way to work. 30 zone, then a turn off on to a 40 zone. The golf driver decided that 20 was fine on both roads. What was also fine was fishing around on the passenger seat and footwell every minute or so, whilst veering all over the road. Complete disregard for any other road users and any road signs. Also braking heavily for cars passing in the other direction, small puddles etc

I was very glad I wasn’t on a bike while she passed

Macaroni cheese makes me feel physically unwell, headaches and queasy

Another thing that I used to get served as a child was some 70’s monstrosity called tuna plait. It seemed to be tuna, onions and cheese wrapped in pastry and cooked in the oven. It had the exact same effect as the Macaroni cheese

Neither of them tasted particularly bad, they just made me feel wrong

I don’t think it’s a question of the quality in China, it’s more the marketing of Rapha being a British brand

    jools182

I don’t see Rapha as expensive and wonder why some folk moan about the price like it’s Savile freekin Row.

because not all people earn the same amount of money

not wound me up at all, i find it funny that people can be so annoyed by what clothes others wear, your post may have been in jest but Rapha seems to provoke some strong opinions (particularly from those that can’t afford it) which for me is one of the benefits of wearing rapha and the angst it provokes. people immediately judge you by it, it says more about them than the person wearing it.

You find it strange that it provokes people, yet the ‘benefit’ of wearing it is to provoke angst in others?

I tend to wear what’s practical and comfortable on the bike and not care if anyone else likes it or disapproves.

I think the snobbery and inverse snobbery comes from the Rapha marketing. That last debacle with the interviews with Brick Lane types was awful. I think some people see it as not real cycling gear, and others see it as overpriced. It’s decent stuff and it’s overpriced. If there’s a sale on then I’ll usually be tempted by something.
