Thanks but unfortunately it leaks more after each ride so I think it’s something else.

Thanks for all the replies , very useful! I have to say that I also considered a Bird AM9 but that’s also out of stock until at least January, the last time I checked anyway.

There’s a few Ripmo’s are about but the Stumpy is harder to find. I’m Looking to buy in the spring so hopefully stock will be better by then.

My trail wides were great until a 15cm crack appeared in the rim without any evidence of being dinged. Then there was the saga of waiting 3 months for a warranty replacement rim which I have to get built up myself.

Sounds like you need a decent 29er hardtail. Mine flys up and down hill. Absolutely perfect for South Wales trails like Cwmcarn etc.

At least Cardiff airport is still open and everyone from England can drive there and go on hols !

I’m thinking about the Renthal Fat Bar, if money was no object I’d get Thomson Titanium bars though.

I find the 2.8 is grippier and has more cushioning but it’s less precise and seems to roll more slowly. Doesn’t cut through the mud as well as a 2.6 either.

I have Hunt trail wides but I’ve been waiting over 2 months for a warranty replacement after a rim cracked (no rim strike just fatigue) I bought a pair of Sunringle Duroc 30’s off Decathlon (£165!)as a temporary set. It turns out they they are pretty great wheels and amazing value ! Check out the reviews.

Nice ! How does it look in the flesh ? I’m considering getting one on cycle to work.

Keeping it simple, shorter bikes will be quicker on tight twisty trails and long bikes will be quicker on more open fast trails. Just my opinion though. I think they said something like that in the article.

I sold my Stumpy in 2017 and bought a hard tail as a kind of stop gap until I found a new full suss that I liked.

I’m still on a hardtail (Signal Ti) I keep telling myself that I’ll buy a full suss again but who knows. I absolutely love riding hard tails.

I ride all over South Wales, natural and trail centre.

Thanks all. I’ve just had an email from them stating that it’s being processed but it won’t show on my account due to site maintenance.

Yes I used PayPal, it was pending for days but now it’s been taken from my account .

I found the specialized purgatory 3.0 great up front , endless grip! Rekon + on the rear pretty fast rolling.

Cheers , I considered a Cortex but I’ve already got a Signal so that takes care of short travel duties.

I went for a Signal Ti due to the issues with long low and slack.  It’s a huge amount of fun and fast, will go up or down anything. They do a steel version now which I’m sure is just as good.

I thought it was a bit dicey, I’ve been riding it for ages though as I initially thought it was just a scratch until I took a closer look.

There seems to be lots of dodgy posts on here 🤔. I’ve got Trail wides on my hardtail and they are unmarked. Ridden them pretty hard in South Wales, I’m 83kg 25 psi rear 17 psi front. Love them, better than my Hopes with ARC rims and better engagement.

Thanks all! I use the sliding dropouts with nut and bolt which holds it in line. Are those called tugs? Anyway I think I’ll stop being so obsessed with the tension and just keep riding it until the chain starts coming off.

Thanks , I used a mallet and the axle popped out . Having trouble getting the freehub back on now though as the pawls seem to be getting in the way .

Hob Nob , thats garbage ! I’ve got hunts and I’ve hit rocks plenty of times without a single ding.

I’ve got Hunt Trail wide 30mm’s , great wheels. Better than my old Hope’s as they have faster engagement and are lighter.

I built up a cheap single speed with bits and pieces that I had in the garage. I bought a second hand Voodoo Bizango 29 frame and stuck all the bits on it .

I love riding it as it makes you fitter and faster. I hold my PB’s on Twrch (54 mins) and Cafall (1hr 1 min) on this bike , it’s quicker than my old Stumpjumper and my Signal Ti. On the ups anyway! Oh and it has sliding drop outs. If you don’t care about the image it’s a great bike.

I just noticed the Signal TI frame has gone up to £1249! I paid £999 for mine. I wonder if it’s an error.

My cranks did this and after a lot of messing about I noticed that the splines were knackered. New cranks solved the issue.

The crank came loose on a ride and I was unable to tighten it. I had to keep riding to get home and that damaged the spindle causing excessive play.

    Hi,

I need to replace the cranks as I’ve destroyed the spindle. The chIn ring isn’t the issue. Cheers

Thanks for the reply. It’s a screw in GXP bb  and the chain ring is direct mount as you said. The reason I’d like to go for the X1 is because I’ve seen one on offer for £65 so it’s a good deal. Actually cheaper than abs NX1. My bike is also boost if that makes any difference?
