Ossify, It sounds like you’ve been through the mill, hope you get a decent job done after all that!

My quotes are for the rear of the property only! also I’ve been told by then that the Prices go up 8% in January, what a surprise!

I’m still getting quotes hoping that I’ll find something more reasonable.

    Cheers

    I’ll say Peter@suspension inc

Great prices and I’ve even had same day service off him in the past. It does help that he lives up the road from me. Check him out on Facebook/Instagram.

Propain Hugene. Absolutely rips and the pedalling platform is insane.

Long wait though. I waited 7 months but it was worth it.

    Thanks all,

I have no idea why I get through so many mechs.
I ride pretty rough trails very often.
The mech usually gets sloppy over time but on two occasions the pivots have disintegrated without warning on tame sections.

I do maintain them and lube the pivots.

    cheers

Thanks all I’ll have another look , the hubs are Propain, I’ll probably need to remove the end cap.

Well I live in South Wales, sold my full suss in 2016 and then rode hardtails (currently a Pace RC529)until I finally ordered a Propain Hugene in February this year. It arrived yesterday and after one ride I love it.

Would I wait 7 months for a bike again? Probably not !

The Bird Aeris looks like a great choice if it’s a available.

Stay away from Ti, mine just cracked !

I’ll never buy Ti again after I recently cracked the top tube on my Ti hardtail. It wasn’t  crash damage , just fatigue.

I’m now enjoying my steel Pace 529.

I had the same thing happen on my trail wides. I eventually had a warranty replacement after a three month wait. The new run dented on its first ride.

I use la brand called love CBD, it works well for me.

I sleep better, don’t ache as much after rides and it also helps with muscle aches during rides.

Well I bought a Ti frame thinking it would last forever, unfortunately it cracked on the top tube. I’ve just built up a Pace RC529 and it’s lovely , only ridden it once so far but it’s more forgiving and comfortable than my Ti bike was.

It’s the the side effects you’ll develop in about 5 years that you really need to worry about.

I have the Ti, it’s an amazing bike! Great downhill but also great for long xc days. I’d imagine the steel frame will be just as good. Orange are overpriced in my opinion.

Barzo front Mezcal rear, incredibly fast and plenty of grip! I run these on my Hardtail.

I had the first gen Transmitter, it was great fun and really capable. Unfortunately the chainstay snapped (the latest Transmitter has been improved in this area) anyway I was offered a warranty replacement.

I decided to pay a bit more for a Signal Ti frame and transfer over my transmitter parts. It’s and amazing bike, very fast and comfortable. I imagine the steel version will be similar if a bit heavier. The geometry has been slightly tweeked on the steel version I believe.

If I hadn’t just ordered a Hugene I’d be tempted, similar geometry but heavier. The Hugene probably pedals better but less durable l guess.

I would have bought an Optic If they were in stock.

I’ve been using the blue one for ages. I won’t use anything else now. The key is in the application.

I always buy the large bottle so that I can pour plenty of it on.

I told my mechanic that I was thinking of getting a camper. He said great, just don’t get a transporter as  it will break and when it does it will cost a fortune.

Just waiting for the posts slagging off Hunt lol.

I’ve got the trail wides and they ride beautifully and are lighter than most carbon wheels.

I did crack the rear rim but it was replaced under warranty.

for the price you can’t fault them.

Oh, I forgot to mention that they are on my Signal Ti which is an amazing hardtail.

Have you seen the state of Orange welds? And how inconsistent they are? Depending on how many beers the apprentice had the night before.

Wow, so much to consider , thanks for all the comments! To give a bit more info I intend to keep it on the drive most of the time and not use it as a daily run about or commute.
We are a very outdoors family and like to drive to places on the weekend. It would be nice to have the option to stay overnight somewhere if we feel like it, basically giving us a bit more freedom and the fun factor too.

My kids are 6 and 7. I love the big camper vans but I’d prefer something a bit smaller as most of our trips will be short. We do want to go abroad in it once a year though. Maybe eurocamp etc.

    cheers

Thanks all for the replies and really useful info! I had no idea about the DVLA rules ! I’ll need to look into that.

I have two kids so it needs to be good for 4 people to sleep in. I don’t want a huge van on my drive either as the will upset the neighbours.

I was thinking of a SWB transit with a pop up roof so that the kids can sleep up there. A tent on top would work I suppose.

My Garage mechanic told me to stay away from transporters as the engine will go at some point and when it does it’s expensive apparently! He said that he’s seen plenty of them in his garage.

It’s looking good in that video. I wonder how it compares to the Ripmo AF.
