I had 3 bikes stolen from my shed on saturday night, all 3 chained together with a huge big chain. I phoned the police and despite there being a police station on my road they said it “wouldn’t be worth” them going out and looking for the scum who were having to carry 3 bikes in a very empty and green area of Manchester. I retreived the bikes myself but on this occasion but I was less than impressed with GMP.
Glad you got yours back mind.

It seems that a “company” with the same telephone number by the name of Cidabridge is located just to the east of Catford Greyhound Stadium
I think it is a Cafe.

For a town centre curry al faisal is nice but there is another almost secret rice and 3 place hidden near it. Its down this road and its the best o0ne I’ve tasted up in that neck of the woods.

Can’t remember its name but it is down here

There was a piece in one of the bike magazines (I can’t remember if it was MBR or MBUK) from about 10 years ago about a group of french chaps who baricated their own suspension on bikes and lashed it up and down hills in the late 40s or early 50s.

I’ve made my own beer in the past so I clicked on this thread only to find it was full of gibberish. Bad form.

    I’m no expert…

    it’s an air shock…

So it is. Do air shocks require zero lubrication then? News to me and I wonder why my soon to be servoced air shock has oil coming out of it.

I’m no expert but is it possible that an oil may warm up in a shock becoming less viscous and so the shock will feel slightly softer?

Buy now. The second hand market is very depressed as everyone sheds their full sussers for hardtail winter bikes and the weather isn’t conducive to anybody lusting after hills through the office window.

People regularly cycle up and down here (its a 40 and you can) however there is **** all chance you’d EVER catch me riding up or down it:

    (Click on streetview)
    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=bridgewater+way+trafford&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Bridgewater+Way,+Trafford+M16+9&gl=uk&ei=Fbe-TPRs3pTiBpnPtJMB&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBwQ8gEwAA

I used to cycle down that road every single day but then I learned to drive and realised that doing 40 down that stretch of road is just not done and everybody treats it is a minor motorway so now when I’m going that way I take Talbot Road (which I work on anyway)

It is now mid October and the off season for selling bikes, prices are plumeting and now there are santa cruz and turner frames going for 300 ish quid which you would never see in the spring or summer months. At this time of year if you want a reasonble price for your bike you need to put it in the shed til the spring and as the good weather comes along and people want to be out on those sunny hills the prices start to go back up again.

someone i work with is in a relationship with an 18 year old, he is 35 and her scout leader, she looks about 12 but isn’t

Isn’t there some sort of in loco parentis thing there making that legally iffy.

As for teenage girls a lot of them are stunning and anyone claiming otherwise is probably confusing appropriate thinking with appropriate actions. Its fine to find girls of that age attractive you just really shouldn’t do anything about it because its creepy and wrong. Also as good looking as they might be if you just listen to 5 minutes of the drivel that they talk you’ll run a mile, its god way of keeping us decent.

You’re welcome, the rest of the trail is really very fun.
Interestingly when you melt a milky way all the way down and then allow to cool it becomes as brittle as Dime bar.

Oh for **** sake, all I said is that it gets fooking slick when its wet and the “look at me I’m gnarlier than thou” tossers jump in to prove how much manlier they are. Yes yes we all get it you are the gods of downhill and the rest of us are just mere mortals thankful that you have the munificence to grace us with your presence.

Or just maybe you could just remove your heads from your collective fundaments and realise that there may be some on here keen to try their first black run and after getting a modicum of air on the way up might be brimming in confidence and attack it at full pace not realise just how slick it is. Still woe be it from me to help a fellow mountain biker out, **** the lot of them as I’m alright and I can big myself up at the expense of others on a computer forum! 🙄

may i ask why you say this? is it made of marble or something?

Certainly you may ask. My front tyre washed and nearly had me off my bike 4 times on it, the lads in my group all said they had the same issue and the poor lad before me stacked because of a front wheel wash. All of us were on good tyres so my conclusion is that it is a bit slick and needs a spot of caution.

The rock pavement section is lethal, you need to keep a very close eye on your front wheel when there is any moisture on it.

All of these stories in the media and not one quote in any of them, its almost like they have no official line on this stroy at all and have just added Rooney’s poor form, the fact he hasn’t signed the contract extension that he was offered months ago and a misunderstanding about the ankle he had an ice pack on after the Fulham game and come up with this “exclusive”. But then the tabloid press are so honest and above board that they can’t have just made all of it up can they?

Indeed any plastic product will have been treated with energy, the heater in the screw of the moulding machine will probs run on smoothed DC converted from AC at either 50hZ or up to 400Hz. I say get some nice tiddly winks and keep them in your pocket. You can get 144 of them here for 6.99 that’s approx 5 p each. Shall we club together and buy in bulk?

You’ll get nowhere calling them “tiddly winks”. They are direct energy discs created using the same direction of energy that some believe flows in lay lines across the world and diverge at mysterious ancient sites such as Stonehenge. By channeling it many have felt benifits in their balance.

    and your bank balance.

It is true that whilst out on the town I get to my most suave when my state of refreshment renders me, at best, to be perpendicular. With my new found balance skills I shall be manage to be vertical and debonair; it will help me pull more women!

I do wonder if I will notice the placebo effect of it though.

£1.19 but its the same thing. A silicone band with 2 holograms and you can buy the holograms wholesale for next to nothing so it is EXACTLY the same thing. Do you think it will give me “phat skillz”?

Where do all of these bikes go? Is there a huge gang of little chavs who storm round the hills covertly hoping none of us notice that they are on our bikes? Hope you get them back Si.

Well I’ve just bought one for a laugh, I shall wear it the next ride after it comes and I will report back my findings.

how can it not give the placebo affect, the word placebo describes that basically the band does nothing its all psychology. so therefore a 1.19 one will do the same thing as the £30 one

You mean they don’t make you sing like Brian Molko?

    JonR

Those must be fake, they wont give you the same placebo effect.

Bikes are horses for courses, one mans dream ride is another mans dead and horrible feeling lump. I’ve seen people in this thread slate bikes I like very much and others I have never tried and it looks to me like just another STW slag off things and wind each other up-a-thon.

So I’ll just say Orange 5 as well.

And photographic evidence of just how enthusiastic you are in parting the bike from said new owner could also pay a bonus

Forks don’t compliment the frame, the rim brake compatable rear isn’t a good look with the disc only front.

    Jon,

Glad you are feeling the love for the bike, I certianly enjoyed it.

The push rockers were on there 50% because I could and 50% to plant the front wheel as it became a little wayward on the steeper climbs.

Loads of options to play with…. 5 or 6 inch, air or coil, lots of different things to try!

    Keep enjoying.

Cheers Harry, I’m very much loving the bike and was quite suprised how quickly I was getting up the hills; either it climbs well or I’m fitter than I thought.

Spits coffee over desk in disbelief.

    Massive tart indeed!!

Although I did see someone out on a Titanium rigid, 29er SS and thought if he isn’t a STWer I’ll eat my hat.

I have ridden a coil shock before and now the differenece in feel but sadly the romic’s colour doesn’t match the look and I’m a massive tart. 😀
