How horrific that someone had a road bike and mountain bike shoes, I’m surprised you managed to resist beating him to within an inch of his life. And going passed you when you stopped on something as cheap as a ribble! Worse than a paedophile.
I have bought rotors and pads from them, never had trouble with any of them and I’d recommend to a friend. I understand that a few years back they had a consignment of bad pads and that some of the people who bought them still have their panties in a bunch.
I run Hope rotors with Avid Elixirs and whilst I’ve only just fitted them they seem to work fine after being spacered out with the washers they come with. I’d have thought that because Elixirs have the variable brake pad position you could run them with just about anything provided you get your clearences right.
I got my 5 spot done for 30 quid in a place in East Manchester about 6 weeks ago and that was a reasonable job. I didn’t get to choose the ral color though but they had a colour near enough to what I wanted.
I had exactly the same experience with the Alps. Everybody on here raves about them but they were just dull. No flow in the trails, constant having to stop start because of obsticles and nobody their spoke the queen’s. I’m suprised I didn’t nod off on my bike.
Its horrible, it like a tacky shopping mall. Everything is over priced and if you want a tab you have to go in to one of the bars and they have a minium spend of something like 12 quid but that’s okay as that is how much a beer costs.
The only decent thing to do is nick one of all the complimentary newspapaers and then read them, chew some nicarette gum and go to sleep. Awful place.
The Turner 2005 brochure says up to 5.5″ which equates to 140mm.
Upon closer inspection the brochure says will take a 6″ fork in the contents, a 5″ fork in the blurb and then a 5.5″ fork in the geometry table. How odd.
What age of 5 spot? up too 2009 pre DW link was designed around a 130mm fork i think The DW link bikes run a 140 / 150mm fork. You could use a very low stack height head set and probably get away without changing the geometry too much.
Just read this and worried as I’m looking to get a set for my HL 5 spot. The turner broucher for 2005 says up to a 6″ travel fork however so even back then they could take 152mm travel.
perhsaps we should have a thread where those of us who’ve bought frames from other stw-ers post up a picture to say ‘look what i did to your pride and joy!’.
I noticed that his syringes have the red screw in fitting to the adaptor which the official Avid kits do and thought I’d opt for that. Not used it yet but the syringes are indistinguishable from the real thing.
I had a 456 summer season with 140 Pikes and loathed it, I felt like Peter Fonda in Easy rider my friont wheel stuck out so much. I reckon the normal 456 would probably be a lot better though.
I have nearly run over both Tony Greig outside Old Trafford Cricket ground and Malcolm Rifkind outside GMex when the Tories were having their party conference in Manchester.
What is it about being born in 1946 that means you can’t look both ways when you are about to cross the road?
