Split kidney with bar end forcing it up and against lower rib. Lower body filled with blood. Morphine couldn’t touch the pain but pethedine is wonderful.

There’s a STW review on the bike from Feb 2023 in which Amanda at 5’8″ preferred the small – reasons are in the review.

I’ve got a practice amp and hearing that’s on it’s way out so for the sake of the marriage I need to get something I can use with headphones :)

New to this thread and picking up bass again after over 30 years I’d appreciate a bit of advice I’m struggling to find the answer to.  Looking to get yousician to start learning  but I need an adaptor like Irig2 to plug into my tablet/phone. However reviews suggest that these work much better with IOS rather than android and all my stuff is Samsung so is there an alternative anyone can recommend? , or are the reviews pants and Irig will work perfectly fine with android devices? TIA

I had this 2 years ago, my faith in the capacity of the NHS has been dented over the years so I’ve paid more than once to see a private consultant, discussed the options and asked to be put on their NHS  list (having checked in advance that they work in both public and private sectors) . This worked for an arthroscopy 10 years ago and more recent ACL rupture. It took 6 months for the latest op to come through.

The caveat on the recent one was that it had to be done in the private hospital so the NHS would have a recharge for the operation, consultant and anaesthetist etc. Had to make it clear that I was desperate to get back to sport and it helped that he did running and mtb so understood.  To be fair to my NHS doctor she was happy to refer me to the same bloke through NHS but it was clear I would be waiting a lot longer.  Consultation cost about £250, small price for health.  Got to commit fully to the physio afterwards, took 5 months before I was back on a bike, 10 months for running, a year to be riding without fear of buggering it all up again. Good luck with getting  him back to full health.

I sorted it with new ratchets and spring set from Biking Barn.  I suspect that I really only needed a new spring but since I’d stripped and reassembled the hub and axle with new bearings figured it might as well all be new.  Back to perfect as before.  I phoned them first to make sure I was getting the right part, they were really helpful.  Kept the old ratchet as you can just buy the springs separately.

Anyone know if the W300 will fit v12’s?

Done MTB in Lanzarote from Costa Teguise a couple of times in December. Followed Planet Bikes on Strava and borrowed a couple of their routes and hired 29″ hardtails from Vulcan Bikes. A lot of the trails are double track but discovered a lot more singletrack last time doing days out towards the west and north. The rental shop suggested that there was a lot more in the south of the island but didn’t bother to find out. Would be tempted if I went again to take my own bike just for a dropper and tyres I have greater faith in.

To answer the original question , Otterburn mill shop allow overnight camping in the car park, do a nice if slightly expensive breakfast. Further along the A68 before Byrness take the left to Borders holiday park and then left again, it’ll take you to Keilder Forest drive, half a mile along and before the drive stats in earnest there’s a toilet block, picnic area and around 4 spaces that will fit a motorhome on. Nice little waterfall walk close by as well.

Snore sprays like Snore-eze work for me – Mrs says it does anyway and it’s probably saved me being suffocated a few times. Not cheap, tastes nasty.

If it’s the same loop they used to use it’s all bridleway and permissive paths – so yes

If not then I’m sure I’ve got something saved somewhere with the original on – a good loop that goes on the opposite side of the valley to Ard Rock

At Coniston yesterday coming off Grizedale to lakeside could smell burning but no people around. Some kind soul had tipped the charcoal from their ‘proper’ BBQ onto tinder dry leaves and scrub by the lake edge so I’m not sure the mini BBQ sets are the answer, still made for idiots.

Got a 141 P3 and just 5′ 9″ or 173cm. Was on the border between sizes but now decided I should have definitely gone for P2 for my preferred riding and height. It’s got a massive wheelbase and ploughs like a tank (in a good way). I’d not ridden it much with a delay in delivery and injury so didn’t take the option to return and swap, just been getting into it the last few months.

Unless the waterproofing has improved significantly in the last 4 years and the sizing better save for a Gore jacket as above. I have both, no idea why i didn’t move the Endura on after the first time I got soaked. Jacket marked as medium but definitely large in size.

I’m same height on a M, really wouldn’t want to be longer. Bike is big enough as it is, never been fully sold on the longer is better especially as my favorite riding is tight wooded singletrack. 16.5″ easily taken up by dropper post, plenty of room to move around, running 150mm as that’s what I had when building it up, would go for a longer one.
Just my opinion though, some people like a larger frame.

Not sure about the timing but they ran both on the same route last year, Mrs not happy because she wanted a big XC loop as pre-covid and would end up walking parts of the DH stages so didn’t bother going.

As a matter of interest how much room do these take up when deflated? And how heavy in weight?
A lot less that the inflatable canoe that sits in the back of my garage unloved and unused for the last couple of years?

Thanks for the PSA. Am Fib pants and elevate shorts in a size that fits my post covid gut. Nice material and good quality. Only concerns are the liner on the shorts being big and the system to tighten them up looks like it isn’t going to work too well with a hip pack.

I’ve used RM and parcelforce for shocks and forks recently without issue. When they ask what’s in the parcel I say broken bike parts.

^^ This almost exclusively on FB. This week, pair of forks, potential buyer seems really keen and says can I come and pick them up now? Yes. Even better I’ve a couple of hours spare I’ll drive over to meet you since you are less than 10 miles away. Err, I’ll ring you back. Total silence. Contact again two days later to ask if they still want them, to get a no. No manners to even say so when I’ve had to put off another prospective buyer. Who in turn says they really want them but then fails to contact.
On the other hand, someone contacts about a wheelset on FB and the deal is completed within 24 hours, great contact through the whole process and so nice he got a discount.
Seems it’s just about filtering out the genuine buyers from the chancers and not getting disheartened about the process.

First car was a technical write off, previous owner had dropped shopping behind / underneath the seats in the accident and not seen the 1lb of butter that escaped. A couple of summer months later driving with the windows down it was found. Absolutely rancid.

Mavic crossmax xl 29 turned up today. Shimano freehub, all the mavic accessories, spare spokes, tubeless valves, spoke spanner. Only good for 9/10/11 spd which suits me.
    Thanks for the PSA.

Need some new wheels but the Crossmax XL have nothing to identify the freehub type on them. Seen the posts above about other mavic wheels but anyone any idea if its shimano or other?

As above, if you live somewhere windy or where you know the normal prevailing wind blows into the fence consider panels that let wind through. We’ve got fence panels that are like a tight trellis – enough to hide next door an just big enough for small birds to hop through. Replaced the wood posts this year with concrete but remember the amount of fence that has to go into the ground to make these sturdy – for a 6′ post a minimum of 2′ in the ground depending on how soft it is. So 8′ or 9′ posts.

Very late final response but it ended up being the interface on the chainring to crank that was the problem and not the BB at all. Raceface turbine, pita but a dab of grease every now and again sorted it.

Thanks for the helpful replies. It’s a 2016 process 111 and I love the bike but this has been driving me up the wall. It will be great to get it silent. Will never buy press fit again though. Well maybe never depending on how well the replacement BB works.

I’m pretty sure sections 1 to 4 were on private land. The last section is an old DH track in the main that you can ride, bit of a push up from Lord Stones country park café. You can build it into a longer loop going over to Chop Gate but I’m sure there’s someone that knows more about that will come along…

If you have not already realised Ard Rock does not sell out at 6.30 or whenever tickets go live. Everyone (a limited number) that gets on at that time get 20 mins to buy up to 6 tickets so it locks the system until they have made the purchases they want to. 20 mins later all the tickets left are up for grabs, and same again 20 mins later. It’s only normally the enduro that sells out really fast, people grab sprint tickets as an alternative but with a bit of patience they could have got on the full enduro. Worked this one out a couple of years ago getting a ticket after the initial rush.

Recommend tape where the normal rub points for cables is. Ti is not everything proof and in time will wear – only a lot slower than an alloy frame even with normal cables. The evidence is on my HT. Also the downtube is not invincible to rocks and denting and a the slapping of a steel chain will in time take its toll. Do not believe any hype you hear that you can’t break a Ti frame either :)

I got a 2 man sevlor one last year in a Decathalon sale with the idea it was much easier to store and transport. Similar to a Colorado but rebranded and cheaper. Used it a few times – Llanberis etc. It was fine for what I used it for but found a couple of issues. As a blow up it’s wider than normal kayak and found I caught my hands on the sides a lot. By the end of one session the sides were covered in blood. Gets hard going in wind. Need a skeg. Drying can be a pain.
However it is much sturdier than I expected and something like that would be fine for the use you want it for. Stores easily but it’s not light.

To be fair even at 8.45 it was suggested to find somewhere other than the field to park. They were towing people that chanced the farmhouse yard INTO the field. The exit was opened and I went in that way banking on a tow out later – as it happened it dried up enough to drive straight out by 6. Not enough for those with sports wheel/tyres though :)

There are no road markings to stop you parking but the event runs on a charitable basis so they provide a place for parking off the where a couple of quid for parking goes to the chosen causes.

The aim is also to keep the road clear for local traffic (goodwill for the event) and to not cause obstruction on a relatively narrow road. The tools that double park on both sides of the road are generally selfish knobs that undermine the event*.

Personal experience says not. Depends on the GP so give it a go.
It depends what they think it is.
My GP after persistence referred me on to a ‘specialist’ who just wasn’t interested or up to the job. Said I would have to live with the problem. Unless it was locking he had no idea. Wouldn’t consider MRI scan either.
Went to a private physio that worked with the GB athletics team and he couldn’t get to the bottom of it either but I ended up paying for a MRI scan & got referred on to a consultant surgeon in the end. He knew within 2 minutes that there was an issue with my ACL and maybe torn cartilage – put me on his NHS waiting list. Operation & sorted within 18 weeks, never looked back. Cost me £700 & faith in the NHS. Gutted to hear the surgeon died last year in a surfing incident with kids down south. Top bloke.

I bought a 29er enduro in the recent sales. Great bike.
I had ridden it back to back with the 650b on a specialized demo day. Don’t know why they bothered making the 650b when the 29er is so much more fun.
