Sent a set of Pikes away and received a brand new set under a week later.

Demo’d the Rocket Max in XL at Lee Quarry on Friday, 29er to deal with the rocks. It was really good, very impressive bike, the demo system they have is great. Get to ride the bikes on familiar trails so you can figure out what’s best for you. Really good.
On my list for my next bike anyway.

According to this Hope chart I need a crank with 140mm axle length. Anyone know what length the turbines are?

It’s looking like being between RF Turbines and the Saints, anyone got any opinions?

    Cheers all.
I was initially eyeing either Hope cranks of RF turbines – would both of these be good to go with the rotor/hope bb30 bearing?

Ordered from them quite a bit and it’s always been good. £5 off, free sweets & fast postage.

HR2 rear and Minion DHF front.

Haven’t changed but, I have a 160mm full sus and a 140mm hardtail, rode/ride Rivi, Cragg & Degla along with local stuff in Lancs on the hardtail and it’s a blast. The hardtail is more suited to this stuff than the big bouncer I think. If that’s what you ride most often I reckon you’ll be fine.

Do not buy the Freerider contacts. Bought in January and the soles are falling apart with every ride. They are super grippy though I guess..
Noticed on a recent PB article..

Fans of the previous Freerider shoe will applaud the news that Five Ten has abandoned the super-sticky, but short-lived soles made from their M-16 rubber compound and returned to the original S-1 rubber. According to Five Ten, M-16 was intended to be a compromise: super sticky soles, at the expense of a short lifespan – very similar to a racing tire. Unfortunately, that concept did not translate well to riders who paid the $150-dollar asking price and expected their Freerider soles to last more than one season of hard use.

    Link.

I would avoid Five Tens if the other options were good, just worried about the 2FO grip levels, they look good other than that.

Chakaping, is the top picture Great Hill? If so.. the bottom two, where are they? Looks good!

Have only tubeless’d my 521s with a rim strip but they are fine. Think I tried once without and it didn’t hold.

Not sure on buying them separately but the Weldtite tubeless repair kit should have them included.

I’m 6’1″ and have the M/L – go to a shop and try the two on?

Uppercut Deluxe featherweight for a really light one. Expensive but very good.

Burgtec Ridewides, got them discounted at Fort Bill but they are awesome, think they’re £60 online.

Lost a fabric bottle on a rough descent whilst attached to the hardtail, I cracked one too.. Got a cheap cage from decathlon and it’s been good.

There is a premier inn off the roundabout near BPW, let you take clean bikes into rooms too.

As above, save energy and enjoy!

I’ve got tech enduros and there’s no sign of denting, happy with them. If I was buying now I’d get something wider but I don’t think there’s such a great difference.

I thought there was a distinct lack of shields in the Stark army on the whole, also could they have armored/armed the giant somehow? – a tree trunk/big rock would have done!
Good job (at least one of) the 62 men pledged by House Mormont got to Winterfell.

Pace RC127, the frame has matte black stickers on it, as do the Pikes up front. Not that you can see anything from this terrible sticker. Yes the cranks are next to go..

Brand of suspension doesn’t matter, OCDness aside, surely you mean the feel?

The new Santa Cruz Bronson is spec’d with a Pike and Float X for example.

Mixing suspension brands isn’t the most common practice, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, and the Bronson’s RockShox Pike and Fox Float X played well together out on the trail.

I have a Pike on my Nomad and it feels great, not tried the new 36/Lyrik, possibly more burly and better when at UK uplift venues, but I’ve never really felt that.
I previously had Fox 34s – 2014/2015 and they were shocking in comparison.
I’m happy with my Pike front, monarch + rear combo.

I got the 7dip from CRC pretty cheap, ordered both L and XL to try on and went with the XL, has served me well and isn’t some shocking colour-way.

I have the Pace. I like it. I haven’t ridden a Soul so not sure how to compare it, but I’ve had no issues with Pace support or the service from them.
140mm up front it can take most things on, it really climbs very, very well too, there is a review on Enduro mag which could be worth a look.. I have used this on everything from local loops to uplift days at Antur Stiniog. Not sure what’s up with the cable routing it’s pretty much down the tubes which is where it should be??
Not the greatest picture as it is somewhat stealth, minus the cranks, but here you go..

Greenwich market has some decent street food places, also Goddards has pie n’ mash..
Definitely go to the Observatory and take in the views, chill in the park etc, really nice area.

Appreciate you’re talking about the 2016 34s, but I swapped my 2014 Fox 34s 140mm to some Pike 140mm and the difference is huge! I never got on with those 34s..

Hmm it’s between riding up in the highlands or doing something like AE to split the drive up.. Decisions.

Anyone got any recommendations on places to stay near AE/7Stanes?

    jonnym92

Yeah I can’t stay after the WC I’m afraid, got to be off otherwise I’d probably stick around and try ride it.

Initial idea was to drive half way up, ride bikes and stop over, ride some more the morning after and then head up to Fort William.

It’s about a 5 & 1/2 hour drive straight to Fort William, around 2ish to AE, so would split the journey up nicely.

Thanks for the options will be looking them up.

I thought bolts were for 26″ wheels only? I compress the forks down when putting the bike in, the rebound keeps it tight against the strap. Don’t put the straps over your brake levers, just the grips.
I echo what the chap said about, get going first. There are a few trails to pick from at BPW so never too bad, but if you wait you will end up waiting for a while!

Just to throw another option at you (and recommending what I own) I have a Pace RC127.. It’s really good fun, could get an angleset to get it down to be bang on trend but it can do it all really well. Worth a look.

Use Apple pay all the time, and know people that use their watches for it too. Surely the contortion over the counter issue is poor placement of the payment terminal..

Give hotlines an email they advised me when I broke the pawl spring on my Demon hubs. Which I replaced and 2 weeks later it happened again.. and then the axle went.. and then the wheels went in the bin.

Local loops Fri/Sun. It was stunning out with the bluebells contrasting against the fresh green shoots. Favourite time of year.

I have the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive and it is very very good. Great bit of kit. Though the size of it means it takes up a fair chunk of your pack, but I think it’s worth it with how reliable it has been. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase any more Lezyne stuff to be honest, everything I’ve had has been great.

This is the tape I purchased to use on mine, it sits over the ‘trench’ on the tech enduros. Wound it round twice and got it tight. No problems as of yet.

I recently did this albeit with different tyres. I used the eBay special stans rim tape, went round the rim twice (this is what Hope recommended) and used stans valves. Went up with a track pump.

Nope no rentals. Might be worth getting in touch to see if you can swap the day you’ve booked?

Sounds like a quick combination already – ride it.
I’m not sure you’re going to see a massive difference by switching to a Minion SS, I’d say just ride and get fitter.

There is no ‘best’ tyre combination, it’s all relevant and personal to you/where you ride most.

I’ve had my Freerider Contacts since Xmas, using with Vaults, the sole has been scored/gouged a bit where the pedal corner pins sit, but I wouldn’t say chunks were missing..

I would also like a couple of these, if anyone has any spares be happy to reimburse.
