I have an RC127. No issues with it so far. Really like it, even with the ‘retro reach’, would love to give the 29er a try.

@Stevet1 that Preston, Lancs? If so private trails or open to the public.. ? Looks interesting.

What bcd? If 94 then these SRAM steel rings are a bargain, had one on my bike for most of the year and its still going strong in some very unfavourable conditions – I’ve got through the cheaper alloy ones (on-one, ss) rather quickly in the past.

Recommend what you own.. Pace RC127. Belting bike.

Can you run the pads without the fins?

    Built a steel hardtail.

Yeah I’ve done this fine. Cut a cross in the tape, poke valve through and use the grommet and collar outside the rim.

Personal preference but thick DMR Deathgrips for me too.

My Mk5 Golf GTI doesn’t sound like the above. It’s a little tappy but not as much as that. I have had the cam belt, tensioners and water pump done about 15k miles ago though.

Good luck. I have thought about it but ended up borrowing a bike.
The freeride & red line will be doable but there are some big breaking bumps and ruts knocking about. I don’t think I’d enjoy it on the hardtail.
Maybe go to Stiniog instead, the blues and reds would be fine. I’ve seen people do the blacks on a hardtail too.

I lost mine, twice, was on a hardtail. Replaced by Triton and then by Fabric themselves. They mentioned this the second time it went..

I’d just like to check if you have the newer studs with a ‘2’ stamped on the stud itself, this will be visible when the bolt head is removed. These are made of a softer, grippier material that absorbs road vibrations and can be adjusted by tightening further which splays out the stud to grip the bottle better.

I didn’t use the replaced one as I ended up just putting a cage on.

My brother has one of these on his Lurcher.. Runs like the wind and seems fine. Not cheap but waterproof too.

Madison Addict for me too. Quite generous in size though so might be worth a check.

Used LSR to replace the zip on a decent Berghaus jacket. They had to replace the whole lot, it was taped too, was about £40 and they did a great job. Couldn’t colour match exactly but asked me what I’d prefer which was nice.

I have a Thomson X4, it’s nice, although the stem bolts are 3mm? Quite annoying and I’ve rounded them a few times. Reflects poorly on me though I guess.
Funn Funnduro is a very cheap and nice looking stem in black, had 0 problems with mine.
DMR Defy is also a nice bit of kit!

I had the same thing. Did a lower leg service and a large volume of oil came out.. Returned for warranty and replaced with a new set within a week.

Thanks, some good stuff to go off. Anything in particular to do on NYE?
We’ve got an AirBnB place so was just planning on eating/drinking there and then heading out to watch the fireworks in the evening. Apologies for the thread takeover btw..

Awesome thanks guys. Warpigs and the Street Food place look right up my street.
Another thing, am I best learning some Danish phrases? Everything seems to suggest that everyone speaks great English.. but I don’t want to appear ignorant!

Recommend what you own.. I built up a Pace RC127 to be a fun winter bike and I’ve ended up riding it a lot more often than I thought I would. Great fun.
Steel and top of your budget but a very nice, no nonsense frame.

Doesn’t help but, Wiggle were fine with me replacing my cassette which had to go back to sram to look at. They sent me one out but I actually wanted a refund, so I sent it back and then the money was refunded to me. Very impressed.

I think the 5010 is supposed to be a pretty fun bike. Though if you’ve ridden the stumpy and liked it.. Can you go and demo a 5010?

DHR2s are very good, have one front and rear on the hardtail at the moment and really liking them. No slower than a HR2 but with better grip over roots and awesome breaking traction.
I too can tear tyres for fun and both now have holes in them, though I patched and just run tubes now.
I think I’ll bite the bullet and go a dual ply tyre for the back next time.

A friends saints have the random bite point thing, I had SLX brakes that did the same but picked up some Zees which have been pretty decent for me.. Not used the Guides bit would give them a try, however it seems a lot of racers use the old codes still??

Are you sure? Nothing I’ve seen says he’s out, just that he’s banged up but still riding today

Just put a video of his crash on IG and something along the lines of not looking good for todays final, he’ll be back etc, so think he is out unfortunately.

Why is it on a Friday?

Thought it was so if it was postponed they have 2 weekend days to get the runs in?

Brendan Fairclough is out with injured wrists which is disappointing!

This isn’t much help, but I had this and ended up sending them back under warranty. They were replaced under ‘creaking csu’ and ‘worn bushes’ not sure if that’s correct or not. I had a big clang/knock when the fork extended, not a nice noise. Would return them if you can.

Quite odd on the BB front, but for balance I’ve had a set of Pikes (via LBS) and a SRAM GX cassette returned for warranty (via Wiggle) as a tooth cracked off after about 2/3 months use. Both were replaced with new items in just over a week.
I have a standard GXP BB which has been really put to the test over the past year or so and it’s still spinning nicely (jinx).

I don’t know if he genuinely likes Red Bull or it was just a required shot and the can was empty or contained water or tea or coffe.

I once played in a band which were on a tour sponsored by Monster. Along with the energy drink they had Monster water, which was the exact same can but water inside. I suspect something like this is happening.

    @greatbeardedone

Could you send me some details on what you’ve done there. Got exactly the same light that would be good to attach to the GoPro mount on my Bell Super, looks ideal..

    Cheers!

My 2009 M4s were feeling ropey, sent them back to Hope for a full rebuild. Sent them Tuesday, had them back by Friday good as new. Think it was about £90.
Probably wouldn’t bother trying to service them myself for that price.

I did this to a minion SS recently, took it back to Evans who took it back to Maxxis who replaced it.. Send it back before binning it!

My 2016 Pikes were night and day difference over my 2014 Fox 34s, they felt wooden and I could never really get them right.
Not that the Pikes are perfect but, for me, they’re decent enough.

Don’t do hotel breakfast go to Federal or Home Sweet Home. Solita is good if you’re after food too.

If you’re into odd bars. Hold Fast is cool, usually has a film showing and has nintendos set up for use!

You’ve also got Port St Beer house not far away.

    Das ist gut.

Yes. Also try a black or two at BPW, nothing harder than Anturs blacks imo.

Tenns only just lasted a winter for me, got a Madison pair which seem to be holding up nicely. I’ll probably buy another set of tenns to put on this winter, 20 for a few months of slop use is worth it imo.

Not sure if a fabric cageless bottle would fit, I have a 2015 Nomad and it doesnt fit as the bosses are right at the bottom of the triangle and it wouldnt allow the bottle to ‘slide down’ and lock into place. I actually have a brand new warranty replacement here if anyone would like it for a few quid.. (sorry not sorry)

What was the complaint with the original.

My complaint was that there was a knocking on travel extension, the charger damper then dropped its oil out all over the place when I tried to do a lower leg service so that any dial change did nothing.

The sram report said it was a creaky crown with worn lower bushes. Gave me a brand new set, though this was a 2016 set I sent away anyway..
