Get a Ring doorbell.  Don’t answer the door to anyone in a suit holding a clipboard or leaflets.  You don’t even need to leave the sofa.

I watched it yesterday and really enjoyed it.   Felt closer to the original Alien film in atmosphere.

    I never read the reviews.

Yeah I took their test bike out for a ride.  It’s quite a step up.  It took most of the day to get the smile of my face.

That’s quite a low cost per kWh you’re getting there

Probably in the last ten years the only thing I put stamps on is birthday cards.  Most people less than 40 probably just use Moonpig for that.

I can understand why someone on their 20s would never have used a stamp.

Based on my own experience you’ll spend days looking for it eventually giving up hope, and then it will just be sitting there on the arm of the sofa.

I was going to suggest Freecycle.   I’ve used it a few times and you’d be surprised what people will take

And from your username I’ve always assumed you were into coprophilia………that makes you….unique.

To be fair.  You’re pretty unique that you knew what the word was for that (or even that there was a word for that).  I had to look it up. ;)

Got to love these “things I hate / don’t like” type threads.   They always feel a bit attention seeking to me.

What tosh – why do people spout this sort of nonsense? Did they hear it once, then just repeat it again and again believing it must be true?

Is this your first STW coffee thread? 😜

the bus depot used to be lovely until it was destroyed in the early 80’s.

    That deserves more credit 😜

Nothing since I bought £1k worth in Feb this year.   I probably need to put in more. I thought I might have had a nibble though 😁

Occasionally buy Play magazine and used to buy Adventure Bike but don’t often see it in the shops anymore.  Nothing else really.

My brother kept hens and also had a Cocker Spaniel.   They got on well, they’d all be out in the garden together.  The dog used chase away the foxes if he spotted any .

I don’t know why it sticks in my mind but one of the guys who got convicted for killing Stephen Lawrence was interviewed by Martin Bashir and kept using this trick of saying ‘Martin’ before every answer.

Seemed like he’d be told to do it by his solicitor or something because he thought it would engratiate himself to everyone and make him seem more human.

It was probably a control thing I think as well, but he wasn’t smart enough to pull it off.

It almost jumped out as a tactic and made him seem the complete opposite of what he’d intended.

I don’t think that’s any indicator of future rates.

Inflation is still very high so I don’t think they’ll risk reducing rates to anywhere near the 1% mark. They’ll almost certainly come down but it will be very small increments. I reckon a c4% rate will be around for a long time.

Just an opinion of course. Like you say, noone really knows.

I don’t think we’ll be seeing those sort of rates again. I think around 4% will be the new ‘normal’ for the base rate.

Yeah I got my PS5 slim disc edition for £409 in Smyths Toys and could have paid cash if I’d wanted. Using up store credit in CeX sounds a likely reason to pay more.

CeX seem to be selling second hand PS5 consoles for substantially more than you can buy them new. What’s going on with that?

I was switched recently and everything is exactly the same except the same phone is plugged into the router instead of a dedicated phone plug. So you keep your home number.

Edit. I didn’t read your question quite right. I was switched by virgin media. Not sure about the router with a sim.

I think this could qualify under home start. I had a car break down, not repairable at the road side. It was late so they dropped it home and then came out the next day to tow it to the garage where I had organised to have it seen to.

No chance of me ever having 50k spare so maybe I’m not their target market lol.

Yeah, that kind to money I wouldn’t be using premium bonds. You’d be getting well over £150 a month at least even in quite a bog stand savings account.

I have a £1k and may put a bit more in just for the fun and chance of a bigger win.

Gave up Caffeine in November. Headache for about a week but I sleep so much better now.

Lidl do a nice filter decaf coffee. Sde by side it’s not as nice but when you’ve been drinking it for a while you stop noticing. It’s a bit like the difference between Guinness v Guinness 0.0.

Not sure I have any more energy than I had before but I can’t see any point is going back to caffeine. I’ve not really missed it.

I bought myself a PS5 a couple of weeks back. I prefer digital games as it’s just feels more convenient. But the digital version through PS store do often seem to be so much more expensive. GT7 is £59 on Amazon or £70 through the PlayStation store. I’m assuming that’s the only place to buy the digital copies.

You can by the proper stuff for £5 and it last for ages.

I mean, it’s Newton’s first law of motion, but I suppose that was only Newton’s opinions so doesn’t hold much sway on the internet in 2024

It’s all the ad work he’s been doing lately.
