Posting here just because by coincidence I was after a couple of torches for the kids myself just last week! After going on a couple of Beaver night walks being constantly blinded by kids shining torches in my face I actually wanted them to have something not so bright… ended up getting these Energizer Eveready LED Torch, Super Bright Flashlight for Outdoor Lights, Ideal for Emergencies, Camping, Batteries Included, Pack of 2.

    Absolutely fine!

I cobbled together our kitchen with a mixture of secondhand and new carcasses and made my own doors out of 18mm birch ply. As others have said I think you’d struggle to make carcasses cheaper than you can buy, but you can definitely save money making the doors yourself. These are the expensive bits!

ooooh gawd there is a lot of sanding and varnishing involved in getting ply looking good! Cutting is the easy bit. I wouldn’t go any lower than 18mm for doors cos you need a good thickness to fit the hinges and even 15mm is prone to warp. It’s a fun project though if you have the time!

I had this problem once on a Lenovo laptop. Is there a Lenovo camera app somewhere on your computer? On mine the app had a security feature that disabled the camera by default. Once you enable it using that app, other apps can use it.

Love The Fall! Still haven’t gone through all the back catalogue, isn’t there 30 or so albums? Its great how their sound constantly evolved, even going a bit dancy in the 90s. MESs lyrics are what made the group unique I think, plenty are tongue in cheek too which I find fun. Off the top of my head here’s a couple of my favourites:

Most of the small breweries round my way are selling in cans now. I generally like them, but somehow I just can’t get on board with the pint cans! They look wrong somehow, too tall… the proportions just aren’t harmonious.

Actually, over 1ha of green space is going to be taken as the route runs to Long Ashton P&R, including part of a designated Site of Nature Conservation Interest.

It does look as though most of the route is down railway line, looks like much of the green fields near Long Ashton has plans to be built on regardless of BRT2 anyway according to the route plans? As I say I’m against this scheme, but some sort of scheme is needed. Seems to me that using existing disused/underused railways is a good way to start.

Hmmm…I don’t know where I stand with this one. I rode over the bridge for the first time on Sunday. Certainly the park on the south side is a nice spot and it would be a shame to see buses/trains/whatever coming through there. But looking at the route it seems as though this green area wouldn’t be affected too much, vehicles would run over the disused railway. Not sure you can really say the north side is that beautiful! Maybe if you find urban decay exciting…

I wrote an email to democratic services saying I was against the scheme, but I’m more against the way it’s being forced through un-democratically than the route, although it would have been awful if the original one in front of Arnolfini and M Shed had have got through. I’m more against the fact that the whole scheme seems like a cheap solution that just hasn’t had enough thought put into it. I think if people were presented with a proper tram system it would get more support. Interesting to see that the proposal says the buses would be electric? So at least they’d be quieter than diesels?

What if the bridge was rebuilt with space for cyclists and vehicles?

Was a “patient” for junior doctors examinations for a couple of days. Had my patellar reflex tested about 70 times by guys who didn’t really know what they were doing. Had a sore knee by the end but apart from that I just had to sit there!

Yes! Plenty of 6 inch deep puddles to contend with, was soaked through. I’ve got proper mudguards but the front one seems to direct all the water onto my feet so my trainers are creating a nice damp patch on the office carpet now.

    Other than that, enjoyable!

Getting back on topic… I had a Thinkpad for uni and it’s been brilliant. Kept going while I watched all my mates Dells etc fall to bits and slow down. Still using it seven years later so I would suggest getting one of those, plus they’re better than macs anyway!

Corn street and the waterfront can be a bit hen/stag infested but there are a few places around there that are worth going to. No1 Harbourside is good, or for a group The Lanes is worth a visit on the weekend for some dancing.

Other than that get yourself up to Stokes Croft, the full moon and the attic bar which is pretty much right next to the Premier Inn has a great courtyard now with good music in the evenings.

One of the best books I’ve ever read on holiday was Das Boot by Lothar-Günther Buchheim, even if you’ve seen the film do it! Suspense throughout the book is unbearable at times, plus it’s really long so will keep you occupied for ages.

Summary – German U-Boat crew tooling around in the North Atlantic during the height of WW2, war correspondent is sent along for the ride.

Well looking at it I think I can get a rear wheel built up for around £150, is the coaster brake any good?! I think I’ll just have to take the plunge and give it a go…
