You’re better off using self-etching primer for Alu. You can use bog standard primer but your finish won’t last long.

All the time for me. She does it best when i’m at the counter in the kitchen and I can feel my dog’s eyes boring into the back of my head. Often I see this when I turn around.

My suspicion of Ford is that they are cheapskates so will do it via the cheap option = squirt into the cylinders

Fords, at least the transits, have the 5th “injector”. They can clog and be the root cause of dpf blockages (no active-regens).

Our dog cut its back leg recently, requiring 5 stitches. I guessed it would cost in the region of £400 max. As it was a straight forward gash. Unfortunately the final bill came to £1200.  Made my eyes water!

Did they sedate (not local anasthetic)? IME, as soon as sedation is mentioned be prepared for a hefty bill.

Could they not just prescribe doggy penicillin or whatever the go to is at the moment?

My experience with 3 different vets is that the chain vets will push for the works where as the independent vet just seems to know what to do.

My latest vet was a breath of fresh air compare to my last ones. A lot of experience there whereas the previous ones seemed to have a rotating door of people straight from vetinary school.

I’ve never needed a test for an ear infection. They give me this weird yellow stuff and otodine (you can buy elsewhere without a prescription). Although 230 for what you’ve had so far is about right.

Dogs are expensive, even with insurance. My rescue has averaged ~410 per month (including daycare) for the last 5 years. Mine is currently with the vets because an eye-ulcer (she poked herself in the eye sniffing a bush) isn’t healing. I’d be bankrupt without the insurance.

It’s meh bordering on cringe, with Paul’s fingerprints (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2jZ82RijhM) all over it, and i’m a Beatle (post Rubber Soul) fan.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Paramo yet.

As for FortNine. I do find it hard to get past his smug/arrogant presentation style.

sort of. 2 weeks in I realised i’d made a mistake. I interviewed for a position in Bristol at their Bristol office and moved to Fishponds from Salisbury.

1st day I was told to go to the Chippenham office temporarily. Over the 1st few weeks, whilst meeting my colleagues, people mentioned the same thing had happened to them and it wasn’t temporary. I bloody hated the drive along the A420. 8 sodding years of it.

Every yearly review I told them I wanted to work at the Bristol office  as it was a 5min cycle from my house, not the 50min drive. The usual reply deferring a decision followed. Eventually they let me work 2 days a week at Bristol, but started sending to various sites around the country.

In the end the Dr signed me off until I got a new job. 3months full pay on sick-leave and I never set foot in the office again. **** them.

I personally don’t find it to be a problem seeing as the roads are so battered and i’m rarely in a rush. Although, some roads are daft to have a 20mph limit because the roads are more like stroads.

What irks me are the people who think that their cars are going to die, their car is incapable of doing 20 or that fuel-consumption is the same regardless of the speed being driven.

I’m not sure how I feel about the ban. On the one hand something needs to be done. On the other hand, the roadmen will just move onto something else.

I’ve met and come into contact with quite a few American bullies and the occasial XL. Most have been fairly dopey and in a world of their own. Others have been dragging their owners (sometimes kids) along whilst they desperately try to stop them. A local near me refuses to control his 2 off-leash XLs, claims they’re dangerous, and wants no-one to walk anywhere within eyesight of him otherwise he’ll punch them. He looks how you probably imagine him and of course he’s breeding them. The latter is the type of bad-apple which has ruined it for the others.

On a selfish note about the ban, i’m going to get people who don’t like dogs accuse my staffy of being an XL. In the past i’ve had people on just the sight of her accuse her of being a pitbull, asking where her muzzle is, where my license is and where my break/bite-stick is. Whilst picking her up from daycare on the day of the ban announcement, an owner waiting outside thought my staffy was an XL on the immediate sight of her. She’s less than 1/2 the size of them. Thankfully the daycare owner pointed out she wasn’t an XL but she did mention that the few XLs that currently go to the daycare won’t be able to once the ban comes in because their insurers won’t cover it. Hopefully the ban guidance will hopefully get read.

    Not looking after my hearing.

I’ve had tinnitus since early 20s. It happenend in my left ear after I couldn’t hear what somebody was trying to say to me in night club and told them to shout…Woke up with ringing ears, like normal after a night out, but this time it never went away.

Right ear. I’m not sure. Could be a symptom of the eustachian tube dysfunction or because of the wind-noise ringing a motorbike I had. Doesn’t matter how, really. The tinnitus isn’t going away.

I do and don’t recommend Staffies. Mine is very affectionate, friendly and low-energy. She makes friends almost everywhere she goes whether its on the train, bus or in the office.

However, she has a very expressive face and knows how to guilt me to get what she wants and therefore very tying.

I can sympathise and can understand why you handed your notice in. It’s a nightmare almost all the way along the M4, especially going around Newport. And now the M4/M5 roadworks is going to “finish” in the middle of next year.

I used to live in Bristol (Hanham) just over a year ago. Landlady wanted to sell and finding somewhere to rent was impossible, mostly because I have a dog. I ended up moving to Chepstow. Not keen on the place but needs must.

If you want to go down the DPF rabbit-hole, I can heartily recommend this guy on YT who seems to be getting all the jobs that other garages can’t fix. https://www.youtube.com/@ORileysAutos

They can get a bit samey but he has mentioned that he points out the same issues over + over because they keep coming to him.

Depending on the manufacturer, the root cause for DPF issues he sees (amongst others I don’t remember) are:

    • failed glow-plugs/glow-plug relay
    • blocked 5th-injector/atomiser (Ford TDCIs)
    • ambient air-temp sensor failure
    • sticking throttle-body (Range Rover)
    • driving around a lot with low-fuel light on
    • boost leaks
    • stuck EGR valve
    • a garage not properly plugging in sensors
    • faulty VGT actuator or the wrong one put in by a garage
    • oil-condition codes because of failed forced-regens
    • cracked DPFs because of multiple forced-regens
    • driving around when the service is overdue
    • clogged air-filters

Quite a few of those prevent active-regens to happen and thus blocked DPFs.

you and yours. Not just because the host likes to talk over people with often a condescending tone, but because of the phones. It seems like it’s 50/50 if the phone connection is crap and you get the back and forth of deciding if the caller is actually there.

I’ve been prescribed it for ulnar nerve pain in both arms. It does nothing apart from making me feel half asleep for about 18hrs.

Pretty much the same when I was on pregabalin. Stopped taking that too for the same reason.

Degrease. Then dump it in a homemade rust-electrolysis setup. Doesn’t need much. Once the rust has turned black it’ll brush off.

Or chuck it in this https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVAPO-RUST%C2%AE-ER012-Original-Super-Remover/dp/B00M0TLQ66

Bear-uk The quality of your videos is nowhere near what it should be with a Hero 8 even if you are filming in 1080 . You Tube must be seriously crushing your quality or you are doing something wrong when uploading .

If you right click on the video and open up the “stats for nerds” you’ll see the codec is avc1. This is youtubes poorer codec of the 2 available, the other being vp9. It’s typically selected for uploaders with small subscriber counts. Part of the reason for the quality is that it has a really long keyframe interval which is really unsuited for moving images. This in turncauses the foreground to turn to mush.

To force the vp9 codec to be used, I upload at 1440p.

I’ve set mine to be on for certain hours all year round. I let thermostat turn the boiler on.
17C in the morning (630-800) and 18C in the evenings (1730-2200). Also have the dehumidifier set to 70% humidity during winter. ~£60pm in a 1970s 2bed semi-detached with arse loft-insulation.

I didn’t know what heating was until I left home. Just had 1 fan heater in the front-room to dry out the clothes. Ice buildup on the inside of single-paned windows and going to bed in 2 sets if clothing was regular. I much prefer the warmth. Sitting indoors 13.5C sounds utterly miserable to me.

That child abuse you suffered as a kid, the mental health problems you have, the bullying you faced everyday or the loss of a parent at a very you age that lead into an addiction is noting compared to some kid abroad.

I’ve been to Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. Gran Canaria is certainly a better holiday location and vastly more scenic but for biking (mtb) Lanzarote is much better.

In Gran Canaria, we found it difficult to string a looping route together. There were shuttle runs to the top and several tracks down but nothing to cycle (without it being a straight-up slog) back up. We managed to string a few days routes together but 1 required a scramble down a v’steep and v’narrow path and none were amazing. Some sections were v’difficult to navigate as they were old lava-fields.

As for Lanzarote, i found it to be a dump, at least for the southern part of the island. I was there on the 4day Club la santa mtb race. Was good fun, the routes ok but bloody windy.

Both times we mostly stayed in AirBnBs away from the touristy areas. La Garita Beach in GC was a nice little place. In LZ it was a remote place north of Club La Santa.

We live in one of the richest, most developed countries in the world.

I very much doubt that anyone reading this has ever truly gone hungry a single day in their lives.

In the main, nobody is trying to kill us.

We have all lived a life where we have pretty much everything that we need and most of what we want.

In comparative terms we’ve all probably had more perfect weeks than not. They’re the rule rather than the exception.

    https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Not_as_bad_as

As for a perfect week? I was signed off from work (3months) earlier this year right when we had an early heatwave. In the 1st week, I took the dog to the Brecons to walk, stayed in a nice BnB, worked on my motorbikes at home and generally pottered about without worrying about work.

I’ve tried wide bars and I just don’t like them. My upper body feels strained and the steering feels clumsy. Not to mention smashing fingers between trees and the bars.

I’ve settled at 720mm on my enduro and 670mm on my winter-slop hack. Admittedly, I’ve cut those 670mm a bit short and can get a little sketchy but it does mean I can cycle through the side-entrance by the gate at ashton court without bashing the bars!

    Wide-bars?

Plenty of people who voted remain did so because they never believed the deal would be anything like we had already… very few (I know of) said at the time they were voting for a no-deal (though at the time that was my 2nd option after remain)

My father who kept badgering me for years about “the people’s vote”, voted UKIP, and always whined about the EU whether anyone was listening or not, said a no-deal brexit would never happen when he heard my step-brother (who also voted leave) was worrying about his business with a no-deal brexit. In fact he’s now changed his tune and said we need to remain and get more Farage-like MEPs.

I’m also a 14mm Almax + double-doofer user. I’m aware the chain can still be cut with a grinder but it’s probably the best I can do.

The other methods I employ is keeping my stuff out of sight and having a sacrificial shitter (rusty gs500).

I guess I’ve ridden a dozen or so practice tracks and none did that. So I doubt it’s most. However, I’ve taken plenty of novices, adults and kids, to practice tracks with no issues.

I might be out of date though. Stopped 10 years ago.

On the tracks i’ve been on they separate the 20min sessions into the rider’s registered ability.

First mouse I changed BITD took 2 days and 3 people.

I was using a Rabaconda for my first mousse fit and still having a mare of time, then I double-checked the michelin instructions and noticed the drawing of the person fitting the tyre had 3 arms…

I still think you should get some preliminary experience at a dedicated place before taking your own bike out.
I’ve taken a few people to Mick Extance (http://www.mickextanceexperience.com/) for a day and they had a great time and recommend it to novices or mildly-experienced riders.
