I reckon you cant make units cheaper than ikea cabinets. I may be wrong but a plain ikea 60cm cabinet with no drawers is only about £30-£40? Obvs with drawers goes up.
i built my kitchen based on ikea cabinets everything else bespoke. I have product design degree from Brunel so v. Similar.
if u go ply route you will need b/bb birch throughout ply and thats at least £150 plus vat a sheet. Cheaper ply will chip and look crap.

Cost ikea base cabinets thoroughly. Wood is not so cheap anymore:(

    just my 2p. Good luck

Thanks James, I think will be one that just allows 2 immersions? No need for thermal (I believe thats not really a thing now). Still would love a link as so confusing? Ta

Hi, can someone please just put up link of 250-300L unvented water tank that can be used for future, if solar panels are added? So many tanks out there my mind goes blank!

I have to upgrade whole heating/hot water system, Currently combi but seems a tank would be better for future if we want solar. Also house will have 3 bathrooms fairly soon. Ta jon

18mm mdf is standard, and can paint very nicely if u spend time. my local merchant is £33 sheet. Green is more (£41 here). Green is wee bit better but really not much in it if on budget. trick is finding best way to paint edge of sheet. Some fill & sand. Or just paint many coats on edge and sand.
Plywood is lovely if you want to keep wood finish and edge. But Birch b/bb is now at least £150 sheet. U could try lower grades but is a risk. As much as I dont like mdf, it is the cheapest way to make cabinets.

magic thanks for input, will go and properly measure and see how many PVs I can fit. Are they standard size?

    On topic, but slightly different.
We have to change gas combo boiler (old). We have small south facing roof area that could only fit few panels.
So was thinking could add 2x Solar thermals, new boiler and new 2x coil tank?
This is all to help reduce gas for hot water only? (dunno if will even help much financially??) (3 bathrooms, 4 bed, 4 people house).
2nd thought, could I add several PVs, and use it to virtually direct drive electric immersion in tank? Or am I being plain daft????!! Thanks

My daughter has one cause all of her friends do, so they must be doing well. personally I think it is not a great design. Ours does leak, unless screw lid really tight, which obvs makes it hard for her to undo. The coke flavour is impressive the way it works, but not bought any new flavours since we had it. Obvs bad for landfill if you buy more flavours. So I wouldn’t buy again, but hey we aint in charge 🙂

We stopped ours ages ago, our border terrier is 15. Insurance well over £100 month? we’ve had to spend 2x £700 in last few years for dental work, which guess what?? Insurance doesnt cover?? I always tell people if your forward thinking enough I reckon its better to put £X a month into seperate account. Its there if you need it? (But we never followed our advice 🙂

Wunda underfloor. Really good. We did 40sqm for about £600. Ontop of 120mm insulation. It’s really good. Few hrs first thing and evening. Just got plumber to link it to current combi rad system with valve.

Got my 8 yr old Yamaha P-125. Not cheap, think we went one up from start model p45. They’re weighted and very good. Also I think they really hold value so if they pack it in, you should get large chunk back.

I have installed a few Ikea kitchens, if you understand their limitations its fine. As people say build off 25-40mm batons. Also take care when assembling cabinets as easy to get off square a bit, then you wonder why you cant get a long run dead straight? I know installers dont like ikea cause its more work:)
Also lots of companies do fab fronts, to make them look un-ikea? Reform, Superfronts, plykea etc.

Personally I dont think you want to make a loss. If you do it well (& with a mind someone else may like it) adding square foot you’ll be fine. An exercise could be to work out sq/ft per £ of what you paid, and then use that £ value to calculate new value of increased house size. Should be quids in after building costs ? At least a bit? Or am I a spoilt Londoner???

My neighbour is properly racist. Pretty open about shouting to people on street his views. All his cars have these big plastic poppies, on all year round. I always had this theory thats its a very secret way of signaling ur with the far right?? I tried googling it once, no luck? Maybe its on the dark web!!
