Should all be the same price but I have noticed a few variances in price between rim options from a few places but only by a few quid.

Stans can go straight into being tubeless you just need the yellow tape (which is about a tenner) instead of normal rim tape. the yellow tape can be used as a normal rim strip also which is how I have it at the mo'.

To go tubeless you'll still need to by some valves and solution though so probably not much of a saving if at all.

Yep I got XC SP3's with Stans 355 rims last week. I set them up just in time for a Sunday jaunt up at Dalby. I'm really pleased with them. Haven't set them up as tubeless yet though but will in time. (£305 inc delivery, came in just under a week)

I was wonderng the same thing. Superstar were at Mountain Mayhem so maybe at SITS also? Would've thought one of the stalls there would be selling, but you never know.

I'm doing my 1st solo aswell. Only decided to do it about a month ago. I certainly haven;t been training for 6 months but have been biking fairly regularly.

I did Dalby at the weekend and now got myself a bit worried as to how I'm gonna do this weekend.

Think I'm gonna take it 'Slow and Easy'. Got plenty of advice from some friends who have done this sort of thing and there's also a few of us doing it solo so may think that will help.

If the rain absolutely slings it down I'm retiring to the pit crews Gin Palace until it's passed :)

Good Luck though and hopefully see you out on track!

Haven't done it myself (yet) but I was watching the support videos last week on their website to psyche myslef up for it.

I don't think you have to drill anything but it's recommended (I'd try without drilling first).

With regards to new/old tyres I don't think it matters although new tyres should be inflated fully using a tube first so they take shape.

    Was it Oscar Friere?

I got one recently for riding around Delamere. Not particularly hilly, very muddy (especially over winter) and also good excercise.

I'm hoping the SS will save my Full Suss bike's bearings and drive train from getting knackered and also give me a little more fitness so that when I take the full suss out into the peaks or wales I'll be able to go longer/faster etc.

So far I really like it and find the riding a little more challenging and exciting.

Schrick what rotors are you looking to get? Hope floaters or something like the Superstars as there's a big difference in price.

At least if you go for the pro3 wheels you get the rotors which I assume are just as good as the floaters.

Good find on the price by the way I'm ordering some hope hoops hopefully today (still fancy the pro3 xc3 wheels though should go for the pro 2's)

I think the Zinn book mentions something about half packing with grease which I assume is just a happy medium between no water and smooth running.

I've got a Nissan X-Trail as I thought the mondeo even though it's massive from the outside felt a little cramped on the inside. Plus I thought it was quite low to be slinging bikes in and out of it every week.

    Piccy 1

    Piccy 2

I beleive you can also buy a tent which attaches to the back of it (why?)

Nice one, sounds like I'm making the right choice as no one has even suggested the pro3's.

Thanks chaps, any reccomendations for Superstar rotors vibe or wavey?

It was the best of circumstances – another druggie gets dropped.

Best circumstances would be that there are no druggies to spoil the sport.

Without hijacking the thread I’ve been looking at getting 2 pairs of wheelsets for me and the missus.

Originally thought it was a no brainer to get Hope hubs on Stans 355 rims for £250ish. Unfortunately the missus has seen the Mavic Crosstrails in the LBS for around £313 (same price point as the OP’s wheels).

Looking at the £300 range of wheelsets available are there any other wheelsets to consider (Fulcrum Red Metal 3’s)?

I’ve managed to get myself confused with it all so currently looking for a little advice.

    Ta!

So out of 60 pairs of wheels that people could demo at MM how many sets have you had returned so far? (and what happens to them  )

I had a look at them on the stand and the XC wheels in Champagne had such a nice finish to them.

My old guitar teacher made custom guitars, he got a strat from a burnt down music shop, made a new neck put new electrics in and left the body as is/was. It looked absolutely awesome with a transparent pick board (?). I loved that guitar I thought and still do think it was the absolute dogs.

Bob Jackson Vigorelli or a Bianchi Pista :D

Or cheaper alternatives, I looked at Felt Dispatch, Langster, Charge Plug Pearson Touche or Hanzo but ended up getting a Specialized Tricross as had rack mounts, bigger road tyres and got it massively reduced.

Yep I’ve watched every race (sky+) and went to the Chester Race last night to experience it ‘Realtime’.

I think it’s been really good and like you say a 1 hour race (+ five laps), ream competition and individual sprints, very entertaining once you understand it.

Well worth watching tonight as it was a great race. Last race is on Thursday evening and shown on telly on Friday.

Is there a Fenwicks/Muc-Off equivalent for cleaning a car?

Ideally wet the car, spray miracle cleaner on it, leave for a minute, rinse it off with water, hey presto shiny clean car.

I commuted today on my Tricross SS but had it set up as a fixed bike. constantly pedalling was a new experience and spinning a little too much on the downs was also a little iffy, not to mention junctions.

A good experience though for my first fixed ride, must do it again.

Yep we went to Bardolino last year. Lovely place and a nice walk to either Garda or Lazise. Even better hire the hotel beach cruisers then go up the hill to the vineyard browse the various displays in the museum and get trollied on the free samples at the end

We chose Bardolino as it was the same side as the airport, Verona and Venice so transfers and day trips weren’t quite as long.

If you fancy somewhere small and really beautiful there’s Limone, Riva is at the north, nice place but a bit windy.

I bought an new shape (57) X-Trail sport Expedition just over a month ago 2nd hand. I got it with the 2.0litre 173bhp diesel engine. It’s got loads of toys in it Sat Nav, Rear Reversing camera, 6 cd/mp3 stereo etc etc. Huge sunroof, tinted windows. I really enjoy driving it on and off road and is really good for transporting bikes as the rear seats fold flat.

Only down side so far is that as the boot is all plastic (no carpet) things tend to slide about a it. This has been remedied by getting a rubber boot liner from tesco for a fiver.

Autoexpress magazine did a year long review of it which you should be able to find on the internet. It’s also much cheaper than the other Freelander/CRV/Rav4.

I finally fit into a niche on STW, this is so rad (or not considering the subject).

I agree with the comments above.
    – ISEB is good to have and most employers look for it for this type of job (but you’d probably never use it if you did get the job).
    – There are no good job agencies as they’re basically telesales people out to make money and talk way too much (sorry if your fitting that niche).
    – Jobserve is pretty much the best place to look but remember which jobs you apply for with which agents, as a lot of agents post for the same job (be selective on who you apply through, although I think Spring owns most agencies nowadays).

    Good Luck.

I got a tick late last year on a weekend up in Glentress/Innerleithen. Just below my knee and unfortunatly that area was covered up by my bib-tights.

A mate of mine got a Bissel for a really low price a couple of months ago. I think it may have been a slight 2nd or something along those lines. He’s happy with it, I’ll try and get some info as it was off t’internet.
