I drive a lot, around 28k miles a year so encounter a lot of poor driving.
In my experience any car can be driven by a total cock.

I ran my first marathon this year and I turn 50 next week. Started running in 2017 , ran my first half marathons last year.
IVe signed up for another marathon next year.
Two of my running buddies who regularly run marathons are 60.

I have a Garmin 235. In over a years used apart from freezing twice which required nothing more than a soft reset it’s been faultless.
I run 7 times a week and battery life is approx 1 week.
It’s also recorded off road bike trips of 8 hours with battery to spare.
    Very happy with mine.
Most of my running club buddies also have the 235 and are pleased with theirs.

Sorry wrong use of terminology and used de mist rather than de ice.
I meant that my heater set to the screen setting still makes a fairly decent job of deicing. Not as quick perhaps as a heated screen but not so long that I wound consider heated screen a “necessity” rather than a “nice to have”.

I’ve had Fords with heated screens and they are great but I don’t think I’d discount a car just because it didn’t have one.
For example on my Golf if I select the windscreen dentist function on the heater controls the screen still defrosts pretty quickly.
Not as quick as a heated screen but I wouldn’t narrow my search to exclude a car without.

Is it obvious to see where you need to sand down. Assume there are some witness marks where the plastic has been sticking?

Just experienced the same issue with my Guide Rs this weekend after the London to Brighton BHF ride.
Both brake levers sticky and notchy when warm and right wouldn’t release fully so rear brake was dragging.
The adjuster /cam on the rear lever seems to have moved as well.
So is the Taiwan eBay revised lever plunger still the best fix?
What else do I need to strip and rebuild?

If it’s amicable you can do most of it simply using the applications for decree absolut and nisi online via http://www.gov.uk
You may need to enlist the help of a solicitor to get a statement of finances drawn up .
I did my whole divorce for less than £1000.

See lots of good reports on these and where I’d put my money.

My Boardman Pro 29er is 11.9kg including pedals .
Changed tyres ( though still 2.2 and not exactly light Barzos , saddle and grips but it’s otherwise standard.
See them all the time on the Boardman Facebook group for £500.
Buy one, stick a pair of lighter wheels on and you’d be be there or thereabouts?

I bought a set of Ksyrium Elites from cycle surgery in their spring sale for £360.
I did consider the pros but weight difference wasn’t worth it to me and the good price on the elites swung the deal.

No complaints so far , setting them up tubeless was a cinch and the supplied tyres better than expected.

Not ridden enough to give a true report on longevity but I’m 83kgs.

I went for ksyriums on the basis that my previous Ksyriums were more than up to handling my then 90kg weight.

I work in the roofing Industry.( mainly flat roof refurbishment on commercial buildings though we do get involved in some residential.)
    Each method has its advocates.
Arguably it’s not so much the material as the installation that’s critical to longevity.
With regards to warranty don’t pay too much attention to the term and more to whether they are actually meaningful and the reputation of the manufacturer.
Choose your contractor well and get feedback on their previous work.
Single ply is less favoured by many developers these days as it’s easily punctured in the construction phase.
We often see failures on new single ply where other trades, have followed the roofers and punctured it by dropping tools or screws on it.
In one case an electronic leak detection test identified more than 60 penetrations on one new build roof we saw.
The laps and detailing can be tricky to get right too.

My current car has had 3 punctures in 70k miles. All caused by nails or similar in tread. None resulted in a loss of more than a few psi and i simply topped up tyre and got the car to a tyre place for repair.
The benefits of a better ride I enjoy every time I drive the car.

I ran my first marathon this year at the age of 49 and think I did alright finishing in 3:56.
With training and 20 years off my age I think I may have managed 3:15.
2 hours is truly superhuman but I think he’ll do it.

My last pair replaced Zoggs and they’ve lasted better and were cheaper.

In my experience it goes back to that simple equation eat less, move more.I started running two years ago and have lost 3 1/2 stone.
I never cycled far or for long enough for cycling to do much for me.
I now run 5 days out of 7 and about 40km a week.
First of all I lost weight by running alone and the excess calories I burned but since last year I’ve been using my fitness pal to keep an eye on the calories and balance of what I eat.
I now find the desire to run further and faster is motivation in itself for keeping the weight off.
Running wasn’t particularly enjoyable when I was at my heaviest but I’ve grown to love it. I ran my first marathon this year.
Joining a local running group massively helped my motivation to go out and doing parkrun every week has given me a barometer for my progress.
This year I’ve supplemented my running with once a week Pilates which has massively helped my flexibility and core and I also have kettle bells which I do a session with once or twice a week.
I haven’t added muscle mass but am much more toned than I was .

I’m hoping that Shimano XT DCL shifters and rapid rise rear mechs will one day receive recognition as being an iconic or at least as a system of doing things differently.
Have an immaculate set of dcl shifters and rapid rise xt mech on my pub bike …….

I sell most of my bike stuff through eBay still.
Ive tried Facebook classifieds but always get initial interest but then they don’t follow up.
I think it’s because they aren’t paying upfront as they are with eBay so tend to get less serious buyers.
Facebook is good for buying cheaper bikes though. People have less idea of their worth or feel it’s less hassle than eBay so tend to let them go cheaper.

After years of using Racing Ralph’s I’ve switched to Vitoria Barzos. Good blend of dry grip and fast rolling and more robust that the RR.

I second the recommendation for Treen campsite. I’ve stayed there twice. Idyllic spot though you can’t pre-book.

I have a company car for the next 6 months then the company will be offering me an allowance.
Only drawbacks to a company car are tax and sometimes more limited choice by trying to choose a car which lowers your tax.
Everything else is great. No insurance or maintenance worries, if you crash it no ncd worries, if it breaks no cost to yourself .
I currently have a GTD which is great.

    I’d politely decline.

    Try Sika.

It’s a polyurethane adhesive sealant nit to be confused with a butyl, acrylic or silicone type.
We used the same type of adhesive for bonding buses and commercial vehicles together.

Thanks for the tip on looking sinister!
Thinking about it if I don’t go for transition lenses, varifocals will be pretty pointless too.
So Oakleys with single vision , standard dark grey tint or is it worth going for polarised or prism lenses ?

This is well timed. I have a cheapie pair of sports glasses from specsavers with the clip in optical inserts. They are ok but can get steamed up. Total cost was £100.
I now fancy getting some Oakleys with my varifocal prescription in transition lenses .
What frames are good for the bike or running but won’t look too out of place for more general casual wear?
    I guess I’m looking at around £350-400?
I probably need to go to a shop and find some frames are too small for my face.
Is there anywhere in London that’s good or cheaper?
