I have a carbon railed Fabric scoop on my best road bike and the chromoly railed one on my MTB .
I haven’t noticed much difference but then the road bike is carbon, has a carbon post and runs tubeless so filters out some of the buzz before it reaches the saddle.

Can you add more ventilation either through eaves/soffit and vents at ridge level to encourage a cross flow of air?
You can also get tile vents and felt lap vents.

I would try that approach first.
Do you have a lot of boxes up there ? This can effect airflow.

Other than that it would involve adding insulation between the rafters .

Would be worth getting good advice from a building surveyor to assess the roof , what you have to make sure you don’t just throw money at it or make the situation worse.

Going back to the original post, Harry Meaden did a good real world evaluation of the Taycan and charging one in his latest YouTube video.

(He is quite critical of the range.)

I always found Ridgeback kids bikes to be a good compromise between cost and quality.
Will often pick up good used ones on Facebook marketplace or eBay and then able to sell on after a couple of years use for most of what you paid.

My year 9 daughter has had another kid test positive in her year group today.
Last month she had to isolate as she was in the same classroom as another kid tested positive.
I can only see the numbers increasing.
Half term can’t come soon enough.

You mention that the it may have had the rear window out and replaced. It’s all too easy for a windscreen fitter to nick the paint during removal of the broken glass . They should use a primer to make good any damage before binding in the new screen.
Might be worth looking to see if it’s had a replacement screen and who fitted it to see if there is any potential recourse there.

I think that Boardman looks good value for money. I think once you get beyond £3k it’s very much a case of diminishing returns and that bike ticks all of the boxes in terms of weight and spec.
The resale wouldn’t worry me simply as you have saved so much up front.

I have a few ,Red hill mining town, Bad,Unforgettable Fire , All I want is you and New Years day .
When I first heard Bullet the blue sky I hated it but my reaction to that track changes when I saw it performed live and it took on a much rawer , angrier form.

    I’m exactly the same size.
On giant road bikes an m/l fits me perfectly.
On their mtbs I have owned both an m XTC and a L Anthem.
Neither felt quite perfect but L was slightly better than the M.
So frustrating that they don’t do the in between sizes in mtb.

On the subject of whether face masks are effective did anyone else read this hypothesis?

When I see those quoted weights of the Edmonda it’s surprising how much weight discs are still adding to road bikes.
I would have thought system integration , Disc mounts, disc specific rims would have made the weight penalty fairly negligible now.
For comparison my rim braked 2016 Supersix Evo with Ultegra and Ksyriums is 7.3kg without any Gucci parts and owes me no more than £2k.
To get to that level now it seems you need to spend £5k ?

I’ve been pondering this for a while too. I have a 2006 Giant XTC with full XT and Rebas that I was keeping for my son but he’s taller than me now and has a bigger bike.
It’s still a nice bike but it’s just gathering dust.
Is it worth something or do I split it for spares?
It has some nice bits on it , Thomson seatpost, Easton EC 70 bars, etc.
Also has the rare Dual control shifters and rapid rise rear mech.
Is there a market for those amongst the retro community?

My parents wrote off their Honda Jazz three weeks ago. They got an initial offer of £3500 from the insurer.
A quick look on eBay and autotrader brought up 6 results for cars of similar age , mileage and spec ranging from £3800 (private sale) to £42250 (dealer car)
These were shown to the insurer and they settled on an offer of £4000 and the money was in my parents’ account 3 days later.

The boutique brands are pretty but the aren’t necessarily “better” than those form the big brands.
Also how much comfort do you need?
I have a Giant Defy Advanced and a Cannondale Supersix.
The Defy has endurance geometry which gives it gives it a more laid back demeanour but the Supersix is a much more invigorating bike to ride .
And it’s actually very comfortable , yes it has a more stretched out position than the Defy but it is still very refined ride and you’d still happily rack up the miles on it.

After a lock down/ furlough clear out I no longer have enough to build a bike but I have a spare 700c rear road wheel, 2 pairs of 700c tyres, 2 X 26 tyres, a pair of SRAM guides with sticky lever pistons, a pair of riser bars, 2 sets of flat pedals, half an XT 9 speed cassette, 2 x 9 speed chains ,a spare 105 11 speed cassette and chain, a set of inner cables , a set of Swiss stop 105 brake pads and pair of new 9 speed jockey wheels.

I really like my Barzos on my 29er but possibly more gnar than you need. Roll pretty well on the road but still grippy.
Mezcals would probably be your best bet if your routes are more tarmac than dirt.
I have Ralph’s on my 26er. Roll well too but much thinner side walls and less robust than the Barzos.

We owned one from new for 3 years.
Lovely car, so much character, not that quick but an engine that loves to rev , keen handling and steering.
3 litre V6 is sublime but 2.0 litre is still a nice engine and arguably better balanced .
Absolutely loved ours even if we had a few issues with suspension bushes and the electric hood.
I used to frequent the Alfa owner forum for advice . Find yourself a good Alafa specialist to look after it.

Hazzatrazza , I was considering the Burgtecs or the Nukeproof Electrons.
Where do you make to get the burgtecs for £30?
I’m in the market for some flats but can only find them for £40.

Boardman MHT 8.9 has Rebas, SRAM Eagle, tubeless wheel/tyres and is £1k.
I have the earlier 29er Pro and it’s been a good bike.

My solution to this is using single sided lock ons. The clamps are on the inside by the lever clamps .
Current favourites are the bargain Brand X waffle grips from Wiggle. £8 a pair.

Have Mavic stopped supplying UK distributors since the fears over their future?

I test drive both before I got a Golf GTD.
Mazda was nice enough and loaded with gadgets. Petrol needed some revs to perform. The Leon by contrast was a 1.4 turbo and had a lot more torque.
I liked them both but if I had to choose I’d probably go Leon partly because there were such good deals on them.
I now have a Mini Clubman Coooer SD.Drives well and a bit quirkier .

I had the lever piston sticking issue on my Guide R.
Picked up an as new brake for £45. The early guides had the dodgy lever pistons which swell when hot.
Still have the old one as a spare and have the piston rebuild kit with the revised piston to fix it should I have the time and inclination.

I have bought a few DHB items this year , running tops , jersey and Aeron bibs and are pretty true to the sizing on the website.
    I’m 6ft 34 waist , 44 chest and buy XL tips and L shorts.

I’d have a look to see what Decathlon has at that price point.
But the Caad 12 on offer at £1200 would be very tempting.

I currently have 5 bikes in my stable.
They consist of a 2006 Giant XTC (sometimes used by my son), a 2010 Giant Defy Advanced (winter road bike) a Boardman Pro 29er (my main mtb) a Cannondale Supersix (Best road bike) and a Pinnacle Lithium hybrid.
The one I clock up the most miles onis the Supersix but the one that is most versatile is the Pinnacle Lithium.

I have just bought a 73 x 122 un55 for my hybrid via Wiggle. What brand?
    I thought 122 was generally the longest spindle,108,110, 113,118,122?
You might be ok with a 5mm difference in chainline .
Otherwise check SJS cycles as they tend to stock Square taper in odd sizes.

Spent the day cleaning my Mini Clubman.
Rinsed, washed ,de tarrred , dried then Sonax BSD all over, plastic trim and tyres dressed, wheels waxed, interior hoovered and glass polished with Autoglym glass polish.
Already covered with pollen and dust……

The easiest solution would be a liquid overlay either to the affected area or a complete overlay with liquid but a lot will depend on the overall felt condition and should be subject to a survey by a competent roofer.
    Is the insulation saturated?
If it’s dry you can over coat it.
The advantage of a liquid system is that it is seamless and if polyester fleece/ mat reinforced is much more puncture resistant than a felt or single ply.
I work for a reputable German liquid roofing manufacturer. Be aware that not all liquid systems are the same . The acrylic paint on solutions from builders merchants are fine for a temporary repair but not so good in the long term.
We generally supply to large commercial , retail and education projects but do have some contractors willing to take on smaller residential projects depending on where you are.
As mentioned some ponding water isn’t always an issue so long as the felt hasn’t been breached and the laps still holding.

    Over 3200 miles I’m averaging 46.8 mpg.

My Golf GTD company car is coming up to 3 years old and in that time it has clocked up 82k miles.
Best car I’ve had. I’m genuinely sorry to be handing it back.
