I live in Hertfordshire, and am surrounded by open countryside, yet am able to commute by train into central London in 30 minutes.
Yes,there are no big,or epic views but I can still ride from my backdoor without needing to ride on the road, and searching out new routes locally is half the fun.

I bought a secondhand Trek 1200 a few months back and paid £300 for it.Lower spec than the 1400,but its turned out to be a really good bike.
The Trek SL frames are very nice.

Oh “Sicklines”.I`m great at them,I used to leave some very “sick lines” on the pavement outside my local, boozer on a regular basis when I was student.

I love some of the technical terms used by MBR and WMB,when describing suspension PERFORMANCE
    “Blowing through the travel”,makes me giggle,thinking its a bit like”blowing one`s load.”
“Spiking”is surely something to do with hedgehogS,and if you can have “pedal induced bob”,why not pedal induced Brian or Barry?”

As an example of how ridiculous parts prices now are,I worked out the cost of replacing a complete XT drivetrain:
Outer ring for an XT M770 is now £97.Middle is £36.20,inner is £14.67,cassette is £78.29 and chain is £36.20.(All rrp)Thats £260!!!
As much as we love our bikes, culd you really justify the cost?

No.Holding on to my pennies.Working in the contructon industry, job security is not a given and recent price increases on parts is making me resist upgrading.

    Just found this:http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/ball_bearings.php?gclid=CNuNiMX0j5gCFYsh3godiShLnQ
Contrary to the advice above, the lower the number the better the grade it seems.Anyway 100 grade 10 bearings for approx £7 posted seems like a good deal.

Further research on the net has highlighted a m580 security plate. What does this do and does it matter if I ride the bike without it,until I can get anew one?
Though I am not sure it was fitted to begin with and I have had the chainset for 2 years…………

Sorry should have said that there is someone with a new X1 on the forum I linked to above.I really quite like the idea of getting one of these myself.
I saw a deal on the frame only for £760,than I could swap all the bits across from my current ht.

1 or 2 night rides a week.A weekend ride every other month or so,or if I take a day off work ,though I managed 2 Sunday rides in one month just before xmas.
I have 3 kids aged 1,3, and 5 and a wife that works every other weekend so I am not doing too bad considering……….
