Looks like an integral mech hanger on the pic?
So wheel removal not too bad and brake caliper mounting OK with XT M760 caliper or if I swap to Elixirs or similar?

    Might yet be a goer,yet……

Sorry should say lack or seperate mech hangar.Bent mech, frame write off?

Not really wanting to go ss,so not sure about the lack of rear mech hangar, faffier wheel changing, and also wonder if the rear disc mount might limit brake options………….
Otheriwse sizing and geometry are spot on.

Like the look of the RL Tig Team but the 91" is shorther than my current biek which I find a tad cramped.

Hmmmmm.Other suggestions for light but tough hardtail, that can take my existing 100mm Rebas?

Always liked the look of the Tig Team but had heard that the tt length is a bit on the short side?

Weird,I`m 6ft,and recently tried a 2009 Stumpjumper HT for size in a size 19",and it was so long ,my arms were completely locked out to reach the bars.I would have needed a shorter stem or riser bars to make it fit,so would be surprised if it was too small.

I use my P7 for that use.

Hose length on the Oros from Merlin is rather long. How easy are they to shorten?Do they come with spare olive/inserts for shortening?

I`ve been, mulling over the idea of buying a Soul for a while now,and these pics are telling me I need one.
In my head I am visualising a black soul with white wrap graphics, and a Reba Team Maxle lite.
Just checked Cotic site to see black is out of stock…….

Easy but the MTE P7 from deal extreme.Brilliant bit of kit and massively better than the Hope Vision 1.
    You will need a charger,2 x 18650 protected cell batteries,and a mount too,but with current excahnge rates should be around £40 -50.
Service is good and deliverey normally takes approx 1 week.

I always have this problem with bike fit.
Giant need to a M/L as they do on their road bikes!
Think I would prefer a L with a short stem than a medium with a long stem too.

6ft,and currently ride a medium 19" 2006 Giant XTC,which has an effective TT of 585mm.(23")Nice and chuckable but front gets light when climbing, and have the saddle pushed a long way back to get the right reach.
What size Anthem do you reckon?

How much more will the 20101s be?
Any idea on price for the 2010 X3 or frame only?

    JollyGreenGiant

Yes I looked at frame option too,but they sold out a while back.

Basically what I am thinking of doing is buying an X3 and transferring the kit over from my hardtail, and then selling the redundant bits. This way I reckon I get the frame for £600ish, and I end up with a fairly reasonably spec

d like to check with a test ride first.

Or do I just leave the existing rim tape in?

    JollyGreenGiant

Would same principle apply though, regardless of Stans or Ghetto?
Have heard that some use 1 layer of self adhesive foam tape form Maplins and a lyer or 2 of insultion tape to build out the rim.Not sure if this applies to Nobby Nics/Ralphs?

Given the price of forks,it might actually be chaper to buy a frame that fits.Lots of good secondhand frames for £100.

Can manage one for about 1 metre, which took me 36 years.
Stick it in the middle ring, with a middling gear out back, push down hard on pedals, and front will come up,no problem. As said success is mostly to do with finding the balance point, which involves falling off…..a lot.

Something strange is happening to my posts and some text has been removed.

I have reinstalled the 2 sprung washers under the base plate of the air spring, then the circlip, but the upper washer has split, even though it seems to locate in the recess OK.

Are they meant to be slightly sprung so that they apply downwards pressure on the circlip,or does the air spring base plate push down on to the circlip once the air is added?

How critical are these 2 washers?

I assume its the o rings that maintain air pressure, and these are more to locate the baseplate?

Take a look at the video tutorials on the RS website. Its easier than you think.

In fact I am currently in the process of doing my Rebas……

    JollyGreenGiant

I will take your advice and leave them.No leaks, look in good condition, and seal kit is £30 for a few bits of rubber and foam……
This being my first attempt at servicing forks,I was surprised just how easy it was to dismantle them,so if they do later turn out to need new seals I`m not too bothered.

I have liberally applied 15wt oil to the foam rings and straightened them out.I think they may have temporarily distorted slightly by being a bit dry in one area, but now appear fine.

I have a pair of 06 Reba SLs which I have just, today extended to 100mm.They were OEM from a Giant XTC and originally set at 85mm.

I too was told that OEM forks were often, fixed travel, but on disassembly I was glad to see,2 x 15mm spacers in there.

I have reassembled to air spring, and am now just waiting now for a new shaft bolt so I can reassemble the lowers.

This was the first time I had disassembled the forks, but a few good reads of the RS Reba service manual and watching the tech videos, have made it fairly easy to follow so far.

Was a bit of a fiddle to remove the snap ring on the air spring but managed OK.

    Whoops,yes meant bolt!
Wasn`t sure if it was an standard M8 X 20 or not,or if there was anything which made is RS specific ,so phoned TFT and they have put a spare in the post.

Last 2 cars were a Vectra estate and an Accord Tourer. Both had fold flat seats ,little or no wheel arch intrusion and both were very easy to lay the seats down.Vectra had the biggest boot.
