    5ft 11 1/2 with 34 leg.
    19" Giant XTC
    58cm Trek 1200 road bike.

Always seem to fall in between sizes.Giant needed a layback and longer post to fit.Roadbike needed a shorter stem.

If a saddle works you don`t notice it.The Gobi is like that.
Takes a few rides for it to soften up,and for you to adapt then just becomes invisible.

Much more comfy than the Arione on my road bike…..

Just a thought.Isn`t about time that people agreed delivery expectations at time of purchase or even, put a delivery eta on their ad?

Mackered, before you spend £700 on the Vertex and more money upgrading,if you are in the city go the Halfords bikehut near St Pauls and check out the Boardmans.

Some of the Voodoos are pretty good too.

They came in and went straight out!! We weren't anticipating quite such a demand.

They should have had confidence in their product and got more stock in!

Golddigger ,if you can`t cure the squealing and need to have the mounts faced try Addiktion cycles in St Albans.

One of the better shops locally.

I receive an allowance,in lieu of a car,as I work exclusively in London,so use the train instead.
If you already receive a car allowance you can claim 30p a mile.
Which isn`t so great when your car is a gas guzzling mpv ,but then I very rarely ever need to use the car,and all my travelling expenses are paid.

I have lost over 16lbs since xmas.It has taken an enormous amount of willpower.

Not really cut anything out just cut down on quantities and avoided the between meals snacks, and substituted chocolate and crisps for fruit.

    Cut down on bread too.

For me the snacking was a boredom thing.Keep yourself busy and the snack urges subside.

I have seen reviews of the Anthem X4 where they have mentioned these brakes (aka M486)
According to WMB they work fine most of the time, but may overheat if you do a lot of long descents.

Tried various options and find disposable contacts and cheap as chips tinted safety specs the best solution.
Not such a big deal when you crash and break them!

Ordered from them twice and both poitive experiences.

Tried to order a bike for my daughter for xmas, but they contacted me promptly to say they wouldn`t be able to meet xmas order deadline,so gave me the option to cancel and order from elesewhere.

Ordered a PC991 chain from them as they were cheapest, and they sent me the hollow pin version for the same price.

Personally I think the X3 is the best Anthem for spec v price, given that SLX is virtually as good as XT,and it costs £250 less.I prefer the black/red colour scheme and would use the £250 left over towards a decent lightweight wheelset, which would probably give a more noticebale benefit than the XT bits.

Both are good value though, particularly when compared to other Giants such as the Talon and XTC.

The X4 is a cracking deal too at £1400,given that you get a proper Fox Float and F series fork, and that many bike manufacturers offer frame only options for a similar price.

Bearing cups, tight as it will go by hand.40-50Nmm
End cap, think of being like adjsting a headset.Nip up to take out play but no more. This is critical as overtightening will kill the bearings double quick,as I found out to my cost! 2Nmm
The 2 4mm bolts do up a little alternately, tight but but with finger pressure.14Nm

Which DT swiss hubs are they?

Regarding rims,317s are OK but 717s would be about 40g per rim lighter, and something like Stans 355 lighter again.

So a bit to be saved at the rims, but not much, hubs you may save more but need to know what you have now.

As said above what tyres are you running? Many 2.1s are 600-700g each.Swapping to soemething like a Nobby Nic or Maxxis Aspen might save you 100g or more each end,if you can live with them, and a much cheaper way to lose significant rotating mass.

Not tried them myself but they got a favourable mention in a WMB review of the Whyte 905 that has them as standard issue.

Having seen some Whytes in a shop, recently they look like they are a decent size for their relative width too.

Quite interested in trying some myself when my Nobby Nics expire…..

You will make a bit more stripping it and selling the parts invidually, though do factor in the time and effort of going to the post office and more numerous paypal transcations compred to selling the whole bike.

Also factor in sellers fees and paypal fees,on ebay which can be quite significant 10-20%.

Though you will get less, you can often, sell stuff here on the classifieds quicker.

I`d check ebay for completed listings for similar items then put them on here at about 10-20% less.

You`ll b e fine just eating a normal healthy balanced diet, and having a light snack before you start.

I did 6 miles for Sportrelief yesterday, first time I have run more than 4 miles, since I ran cross country at school 25 years ago.

Pleasantly surpised to finish in 42 mins.My strategy was to take it easy for the first mile, and get my breathing under control and then run behind the fit bird with the nice arse for the remaining 5…

Looking at a pic of a 2010 XTC on the Giant website it looks like a top swing. Most mechs are dual pull and have multi band clamps,so aslong as you get a top swing you`ll be fine.

X3 looks the best value at £1750.SLX.XT drivetrain,Elixir brakes and prefer the black colour scheme to the blue of the X2.
I`d spend the change on a wheel upgrade.

Still love my 06 XTC.Keep on looking around for replacements.
Would love an Anthem but can`t afford it.
Often considered an On One Scandal, but not sure if it would be that much better.

Really like the idea of a Soul, but expensive for what it is….

And in the meantime my XTC does everything I want of it.

I just started running again 6 weeks ago to train for the Spoert relief 6 mile run.
First week was really hard, despite being aregular cycling, but I have now run 5 miles, twice a week for the last week.
5 miles running takes far more out of me than a 40 mile road ride.

My local Hertfordshire loops are full of wet clay,or chewed up by horses.
    Roads are full of potholes.
I`ve started running to keep my fitness levels up.Saving me loads of cleaning and fettling time, and much cheaper!

Nobby Nics pretty much all year here.Might swap the rear to a Ralph if/when the ground dries out,but find the NN is a good all rounder particularly given the very mixed surfaces that I ride on.

Nobby Nics f and r,or even Nobby Nic with a Racing Ralph on the rear.
