Not the best, but perfectly adequate kit an reasonable prices. I use them a lot to kit out my kids with outdoor clothing and kit for their scout activies.

I’m neither green ,particularly smiley, nor a giant.Im thevresult of a totally spur of the moment thought process on registering.I’m Jolly green giant, for no other reason that my bike was a green giant xtc and that made me think of the green giant associated with frozen peas…..

I’ve been really happy with my Moto G. I also have an iPhone 6 for work, and I don’t find the Moto G to be much behind and in some respects, such as battery life it’s better.

Very sad to die so young.Genuinely didn’t have a clue what he was on about but really hope he has found a happier place and is at peace.

They look great.I really like the look of the SX but wonder if by sticking bigger rubber and extending forks to 120 on my 26er I’d achieve much the same result!
Think there was a favourable review in this months MBR.
Don’t think there was much of a weight saving on the 26er by going carbon. It was always a big step up in cost to the advanced and you could save more by a wheel swap. I’m not sure if that translates to the new 27.5.

I currently have the Merc A class as my company car ,mine’s an A200CDI sport.

I didn’t have a choice ,it was simply the car that was available when I joined.

Having previously had a 320d I was a little underwhelmed by it initially, but I’ve warmed to it.

Good points are build quality, high quality interior, comfortable seats, good handling ,great refinement and reasonable performance.

I seem to get lots if positive comments on how it looks too.

I’d say a 1 series is a bit nicer to drive, but as suggested above they are rather cramped in the back.

If it was my own money I’d be looking at the new Mazda 3 or a Seat Leon. Focus drives well too but interior is crap and small boot, VW Golf is a good all rounder but a little ubiquitous and the Leon does the same for less. V40 looks nice, great engine in the D4 but again not overly big,and softer handling than some.

    Yep, that’s the one.

A little more reassured by your reply jimw, though I’m still not sure why they wouldn’t use photos if the actual bike for this and their other listings.

Thanks for replies. Having read Ebay rules it seems they be in breach of rules over use of others photos. There might be a plausible explanation but think I will report to Ebay justbin case.

Giants have had a 44mm head tube with an internal headset for years. I’ve heard that they can be run with a tapered steerer if you use an external bottom headset cup. Can anyone verify?

My brother ordered his Merc 350 e and is hoping to take delivery this month.Impressive syats but will be interesting to see how they translate to the real world. How more company cars will be plug in hybrids with the diesel emissions scandal ?

Same seller is selling 2 x Titus El Guapo and a Marin Quake. Descriptions also Parts built around frame, may nor be the same and gives a mobile number for more photos.
Why would someone do this if they had the bike?

It does mention parts might not be the same…….

Still seems a little suss to me.

Yes bike is where I left it and with me here. The photo is of my bike in my yard. No it’s not an Orange 5!

It’s being sold by a what looks to be an Ebay bike trader. There’s 4 or 5 other bikes and a car on with the same trader.

Bit suspicious? My bike is built around a frame only option, and its a build to my specifics so someone is going to be disappointed and would think less than representative of what someone thinks they are bidding on.

I too have used Lithions which came as standard on my Defy. Have been pleasantly surprised by their performance ,having previously generally favoured Schwalbe for for both road and MTB.

    Since 1987 I’ve had:
    Triumph Toledo 1300
    Renault 5 1.1 TL
    VW Beetle 1300
    VW Beetle 1200
    VW Golf mk 2 1.3
    Ford Mondeo 1.8 GLX
    Peugeot 406 2.0 LX
    Ford Focus 2.0 Ghia
    Alfa Romeo 156 1.6 ts
    Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 SRI
    Ford Mondeo 2.0 LX
    Rover 75 cdti
Honda Accord 2.2 cdti tourer executive
    Vauxhall Vectra design tourer
    Ford Galaxy 2.3 Zetec
    Vauxhall Astra 1.8
    Ford Focus mk2 1.6
Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 cdti 160 Elite
    BMW 320ED
    Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 cdti Design
    Mercedes A200 CDI Sport

21 cars in 30 years and probably covered 500,000 miles between them……

Probably miss the Alfa the most, 3 series was the best, hated the Insignia and Vectras, the Beetles were archaic but characterful, first Mondeo and Focus were great to drive in their day, Galaxy was the one I expected to like the least but actially not a bad drive and was bloody useful if spectacularly tbirsty. Most of them company cars

26 here, Giant Anthem full susser and XTC hardtail. Was looking to trade them both in for a more trail orientated 29er hard tail but seemingly pretty much worthless now so will be keeping them a bit longer!

Externally difference between mk1 and mk2 is the later car is bigger, rear hatch slopes on the mk2 whereas the mk1 is more upright. Mk2 has a smoother shape but lacks some of the distinctiveness of the mk1.

If you are looking at petrols the 1.6 is fine, 1.8 isn’t much quicker but at this age I’d be guided more by condition rather than difference between 1.8 and 1.6.
Check for rust,my girlfriend’s mk1 failed it’s last MOT for rust where the rear arch meets the sill and needed welding. Bottom of the rear door skin is another area they go.

I wouldn’t discount a mk2, they still drive better thanist if the competition and are more plentiful and likely to be in better condition.

I almost halved my building and contents insurance this year.I’m not sure there’s a single insurance biker that doesn’t do this unfortunately. I was offered a discount with the existing insurer on the first call to query the increase but its so easy to change these days there’s really no reason to stay.

I think most head units do have an aux in.I’d take a look in Halfords. I think you can also get Bluetooth kits which will stream music and phone.

One other thought,on difference between mk1 and mk2 was size. The mk 1 is roomy for its external dimensions but the mk2 had a bigger boot.

My basic mk2 had an aux in the glovebox.Given DAB radios can be had so cheaply the days you may as well just replace the head unit.

I’ve had a mk1 and a mk2. Both were great cars, the mk1 was a little bit more nimble but the mk2 is still a good drive. My gf has a mk1 2003 1.8 tddi ( no dpf) which is on 165k miles. Not sure it will get through the next MOT as it is slowly succumbing to rust but mechanically its been great.

I’ve been a lurker here for years. Feeling a bit out of touch by virtue of riding xc orientated machines, lacking a log burner,Landie,Skoda, high end Hi fi equipment,or listening to bands that no one has ever heard of active participation is a struggle but I’ve certainly learnt a lot along the way. :D

My parents recently did this. They used wickes for supply and installation, existing bathroom completely stripped and new shower, tiles floor to ceiling, heated towel rail, paint etc and it was £7k all in. I thought it was expensive but done to a high standard.
