@epicsteve – I got a local metalworkers to machine me a 98mm long x 3mm thick adaptor from aluminium tubing that reduced my hub from 15mm to 12mm – seems to have worked a treat and he only charged me a couple of quid – worth looking at ?

if you drop me a DM, I could send you a pic of it

    Sounds about right, Blazin

Just weighed my S-works SL6 there now – same paint job as yours – so with Vector pedals and elite bottle cages, it’s coming in at 7.6kg

so change the R8000 chainset to a DA one and could get it down to 7.5kg

so no idea what you’d need to spend on it to get it down to below 7kg

(stealth nudge) – I’ve an S-works disc SL6 in the classifieds at the minute for £4K

It’s their top of the range frameset with their seatpost, headset & ceramic BB, and even with a set of disc wheels at 1420g & a DA build, I think the weight is coming in around 7.5kg

maybe knock 100 or 200g off by changing the chainset

went for the 200 in the end, seeing as it’ll be light stuff I’ll be trying out – can always upgrade to a heavier one if I venture further

managed to pick it up for £63.75 here – listed price was then discounted by £21.24 at the checkout

    Thanks all for info

Ok, thanks for that – think I’ll go for the Scafell then – where did you see it for £89.99 – was it Leisure Outlet ?

Either of you have any thoughts on the sleeping bag question too ?

    Hi Simon,

the price on these 2 is similar so what would you recommend for spring / summer bikepacking if you were to choose between the Venom 200 or the Planet 140 ?

    TIA,

    Johnny

Oops – just read that last bit – meant it has never disappointed

    Hi, Chapa

I’ve had 3 Synapse – all Hi-mod – a 2013 rim brake (which i sold to a friend who has used it for everything from day to day riding, to bike packing trips, including an 8 day Strade Bianche tour in Tuscany – he loves it), then the 2015 rim brake one with the split ST, and then the DA disc one – thought the 2 rim brake ones were great but that the disc one was just a bit underwhelming – but all sold now

I also have a 2013 Supersix HM, with 38mm Wheelsmith wheels and Ultegra 6800 – wouldn’t sell it for the world – brilliant bike that I’ve done everything from racing to 100 milers, and its never failed to disappoint.

Just wish I’d bought the HM disc last year instead of the Synapse ☹️

    Just my tuppence worth.

I appreciate that ride time so far is limited but, given frame cost and general quality, would you say it’s definitely been worth the purchase ?

“Whilst it looks like my UP, it’s not as lively, but it also has rack and guard mounts which the UP doesn’t. First proper ride on Tuesday”

Hurry up, Daffy – want to know what it was like – especially compared to the UP

Big price jump, with increased weights, an lesser specs on the 2020 models, compared to 2019 ones – looks around 200 – 250/ model on the carbon ones

I want it to run on a cross bike 1x set-up

I know there is a specific GRX 810 rear mech but for a max 32T rear, they recommend a Medium cage – unable to find one, hence why I was asking about the RX option
