Hair net update. Turns out we do have some as used for daughters ballet stuff, down side is that I found out that wife doesn’t own stockings 🙁

I try to do it very calmly in case someone is close by but inside I am doing exactly what you describe trolleywheels

Now that hair net is a cracking idea. My wife is only 40 though so she doesn’t have any yet. Maybe nick one of her stockings and whack that over.

Slight hijack here but can someone explain the term “too much bike for me” I see it used quite a lot on here but I always tout it was the same as “over biked” but not sure now. Cheers

What brand of crank is that? Not a frame I would have myself but the whole thing looks amazing, nice job.

I have the same issue with excess weight but unike you I can’t shift it. Currently training for a 100 mile road event so most off road rides are between 12 and 50 miles the latter only happens if I can’t bare the thought of riding long on the road. I think once this event is done and dusted I will be riding for pleasure off road and distance will be between 10 and 30 miles.

The road bike will be going up for sale immediately after the event, I hate it.

Hoping to add some running into the mix soon as well as my foot heals, but gym membership is one thing I feel I can’t justify.

Good luck with your continued fitness increase and enjoy.

Hmmmm maybe consider a frame change at some point. I am struggling to trust the carbon from a strength point of view, I need to stop reading articles about how they can be easily damaged without you noticing. Other bike is steel and in my head it’s indestructible.

Sorry, I think the roof closure at Wimbledon tipped me over the edge.

    Sorry Matt.

Matt, you seem to think that I was aware of all that information before I posted the question. It is possible that there are people out here who know very little about the intricacy of each individual part and might have just chucked together a frame with the parts they could afford. And then, god forbid, they ask a question on a forum which is full of people who have more knowledge than them in an effort to understand what is going on.

    Pull your head in.

I shan’t take offence at the “are you overweight” quote, because I admit I am about a stone overweight.

Rocket, in green. I’m not really qualified to give an in depth review or comparison as it’ s only my 2nd full suss and the first was an old 2007 I drive. But I really love mine, I just wish it was green.

All seems to be fine , I wonder if its possible the tyre isn’t suited to the rim size?

Queen Elizabeth Country Park and then back to Winchester which would give you 20plus miles plus Butser Hill or go the other way 25 miles and come back and have a play on the red trail before you stuff your face in the cafe 🙂

I have/had the same question recently. Due to the odd nature of the On One Whippet frame I couldn’t just stick a simple jump stop on which was most annoying. Anyway I didn’t have enough spare cash to buy any of the recommended options so I have nothing other than a bash guard, so far I have done 200 miles most of whch are on the SDW and have had one dropped chain.

I will have to cover this with the statement that I am not very clued up on this biking lark other than I try to get out as often as I can so i don’t have extensive experience of riding with a single ring up front but 200 miles and one drop gets me wondering if the guide is as important as some would make out?

I did the Trail Break Lemming Trail yesterday, just did the first day as couldn’t get enough brownie points for the whole weekend but it was excellent. So nice to be riding the SDW without mud at last. The section I did was between Winchester and Toddington.

I did thnk this was the case, seems you can buy a tool for every job these days when a less specific tool will do the job fine and be useful for other stuff.

I just spent a day on the South Downs with my Whippet which just has 100mm front suss. My arms, wrists, and back were knackered but my lord does it climb easier than my Rocket. It feels quick and fun, but it will not replace the Rocket unless I am going out for 40+ miles with hills.

+1 for the £225 last full service on my full sus was around 100. Mind you if you need new cassettes and suchlike I bet it can add up.

Cheers, just seen a lezyne bag with multi tool etc thrown in. Unfortunately I just bought a crank bros multi tool last week so missed a trick there. Looks like its the Topeak wedge but without the quick clip.

I would disassemble it each night and hide the components in different places around the tin shack. Also when riding it put that stuff on it that car manufacturers use to disguise new cars when testing.

Can’t really give an answer that will fix it but can share my own experience from a few weeks ago. I have a full sus that I have rode without discomfort for 12 months. A few weeks ago I wanted to adjust my riding position as I felt I was over the bars too much. All I did was swing the bars up and back a little to raise my hands and shoulders, 10 miles into the next ride the pain in the back of my legs and lower back was hideous, I stopped, changed the bars back to where they were and rode the next 25 miles pain free.

It amazed me that such a small tweak could have such an effect so I would encourage you to fiddle a bit to see if you can find that position which suits.

    Hope you get it sorted.
