    I don’t tip for a few reasons
    1. It’s the guys own business rather than some minimum wage employee
    2. I pay with a card which never feels right if you add a tip. Where does it go?
    3. I am loyal to them, I think repeat business is worth more.

We enjoyed it last year, but if it did t have the outdoor show with it as well I think the rest of the family would have been bored once they had done all the bike actvities. But it did, so we were all happy.

In one way it sounds a good price to get something done well, on the other hand it sounds expensive just to bolt a bit of metal to a frame and stick a chain through it.

In answer to a comment above, “all you need are” wire cutters, allen keys, screwdrivers, chain tool………… if you haven’t done it before then consider the cost of purchasing these versus handing it over to an expert.

I think people fail to consider the fact that everyones brain is wired differently and where one person see’s first time the direction that chain runs through the mech, there will be others, like me, who stare at it for a long time waiting for inspiration. I can do the job, don’t get me wrong, but i have friends who can do it in 5 mins versus my 30 mins to an hour.

I am also unable to accept anything other than perfection with regards to set up, that coupled with being a mechanical div, generally means asking for help!

I will sign off on a positive note and say that there is a feeling of immense satisfaction when you do it right yourself!

My 10 yr old got a small On One Whippet built up from bits I had lying around. The carbon frame is a bonus for her as it makes it nice and light versus a steel job like my others. She is 11 now and 5ft2 and it’s about perfect for her.

    @Sharkattack – it was 3yrs old and a bit battered, I didn’t repaint a new one!

@jambalaya and it was free, wouldn’t have even considered it if I hadn’t won a competition. Now I have seen it I am now thinking of more intricate and expensive designs for 3yrs time.

If anyone wants a cracking respray with airbrushing Alistair is the man.

I have the Sonos soundbar on it’s own in a 4mx4m room. The volume is awesome and way more than required, the sound is awesome to me when watching films and listening to music. At this point we must just add that I have never owned a surround sound system, I have had good music systems but never bothered with TV stuff.

I have also added 2 Play 1’s to the house, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom, sound is good but not awesome however, what you can do with them is awesome. I love sitting downstairs and waking the wife up with a bit of Faithless at 7am via the Sonos app!

My bro in law has the soiundbar plus 2 play 1’s to create the cinema sound, it is good, but not good enough for me to move my Play 1’s into the same room.

My verdict is that Sonos is ace for my needs and the soundbar is awesome. Want a Play 5 next and then a sub

I just have the base level Fox RL and when I phoned up Cy to ask for guidence on a replacement shock, it was suggested that I spend the money on upgrades elsewhere as that shock does the job as well as anything. Only caveat was unless you want one you can fiddle with and tweak, I didn’t

Another thing worth pointing out, the guy who did the respray commented on how well it was built with regards to care and attention on the welds etc. He was very impressed.

I had a 2007 GT iDrive before my 26er, not a great comparison i’m afraid but I do love the rocket. Just had it resprayed and about to build it back up, good climber and likes to go fast. It has moments of dullness when you are just plodding though, once you give it some welly it is ace.

I hear they are similar to the 26″ version that I have, the one big difference is that the trails come alive even more!!!!! 😉

Not to dwell on this too much however you did say you didn’t monitor her and then suggested she breaks the rules from time to time. Just interested how the rule breaking became apparent, was it fall out from the situation?

Drac, how do you know she breaks the rules?

I guess what we are wrestling with is the fact we allowed the phone in the first place as a ‘safety aid’ actually, was it just a comfort blanket for us?

It seems to cause more hassle than comfort tbh and at 11 i don’t want her worrying about anything.

How old is she Drac? The shit I have seen from others and the fact she deletes messages, it makes it hard to be so relaxed.

My daughter turned 11 this year and inherited my on one whippet. Problem with buying a new bike for a child of that age is that you are into adult bikes so unless you have oodles of cash to drop on it then I would go 2nd hand.

Fwiw my daughter loves the fact she has her dads bike, makes her feel grown up, never once complained about it not being new.

Edit- and be careful going for a 24 inch at this age, one growth spurt and he will outgrow it

I tend to use Waze fro my phone more than the 2 sat navs we have. Love the accuracy of the real time updates and the way it finds really good alternative routes based on real info.

Ok wiggles, sounds sensible but are all headsets equal with regards to size and fit? So if I just bought a mountain bike headset from crc would it fit? Sorry, I know it sounds stupid, I have built two bikes but work by knowing the exact parts required for those bikes. Googling GWH A-Headset is not yielding the same results as I would get for ‘headset for cotic rocket’

If the Butchers Arns is the one with the bunkhouse then I can vouch for that as well. Very handy, good breakfast and a decent pint

Fair enough then. I might ask one of our local landowners, I am sure it will go along the same lines 🙂

Is it a bit damp back home then? Currently sat on my balcony overlooking lake Fuschl in Austria, got my legs burnt today by the orange ball in the sky. I would post a picture but it takes me about an hour to remember how to do it on here and by then I will be sinking an Austrian beer or two.

    Sorry, that was mean 🙂

Thinking of a long SDW ride tomorrow. Family away so I can play but the rear shock for the cotic is at the menders. Long ride on the 29er it will have to be

Still deciding gibbonarms, I need to pay a visit to the shop and have a proper chat. What did you go for or is it a secret until it returns? Pic required here when you get it back.

Another reason I am hanging on is because I am still riding it regularly so getting the most out of the current paint.
