That bridge thing was awesome, I would have died in the water after wobbling along for about a foot once I had lifted the bike onto it.

Looks like a scattering of moles to me, if Suarez got those teeth into a shoulder there would be a massive chunk removed.

Sounds like a fine way to spend a day Mork, thanks for the invite. Personally I will be tied to a desk all day but feel free to enjoy yourself while the rest of us slave away 🙂

Didn’t wake up earlier enough to go to QE this morning so just did a bridle way out and back. I feel like someone has flayed me with nettles and brambles then sprayed me with a coating of glue and stuck every manner if insects all over me! It’s dangerous out there!

Hi Mork will probably be there sat and sun morning or possibly sun evening. Any good?

Hi all, this is being written on board the Eurostar on which I have just purchased and consumed probably the worst pizza in the world. I may be ill later!

On Sunday I was eventually given a pass out mid afternoon for a quick play at QE, sorry BS :-(. Met a chap who pointed me in the direction of some new trails built for a recent race. Didn’t have the time to investigate on Sunday so I went back Monday night to have a look around and found that they were quite fun. The two routes I found both had drop offs that I bottled but apart from that I strayed in and came out unscathed.

The downside of the new trails is that they spit you out right at the lowest point of QECP and the only way home is up! Legs were killing me the following day, need to get one of those electric bikes 🙂

Looked a great event, loving the video apart from the fact my 7yr old is now wandering around singing the soundtrack which isn’t great coming out of a 7 yr olds mouth.

Where was it held? Obviously not the red trail.

Take in some goodies, it will make you feel better and in my experience they like free stuff like the rest of us. If they are miserable after that then it’s a lost cause and you know it’s not the place for you.

Plython, I think you are close to Moors Valley so you have a single track section I. There which is twisty and fun if you give it some we’ll but almost totally flat. There is the skills area there as well which has a load of berms and jumps with some north shore, that’s a bit more fun. Other than that I am afraid I don’t know anywhere else sorry.

Jambalaya- yes will pick it up Friday evening or Saturday morning depending on what time I get home from Brum. If I am home to pick it up Friday evening then I am available sat am early. Failing that I am free sat evening and Sunday am and evening.

The rocket is being dropped off at the bike shop tonight to have its new dropper seat post fitted! Exciting times:-)

Sport, I mostly cry during great sporting achievements. I was a mess during the 2012 olympics and paralympics, I don’t expect many tears over the coming month or so mind!

OK OK OK 🙂 I will move the damn brake levers just to keep you lot happy! To my point about not covering them all the time, I use this bike for pootling along with the children and for long non technical XC rides so the need for sudden braking is lessened. I do ride with brakes covered on the full suss while on more techie stuff.

So a divided opinion on the layback seatpost approach, if I can get hold of a cheap one I will let you know.

Oddly my wife didn’t bat an eyelid when asked to photograph me riding round the garden, maybe if I was naked she might have reacted differently but who knows!

The brake lever comments are certainly valid, they are in the wrong place, funny how you don’t think of these things but it is obvious when you look at a pic. That said I don’t think it will help the situation as I don’t ride this bike with my fingers covering the levers normally so hands can go wherever they fancy. I needed to cover the brakes in the photo as I was trying to avoid garden obstacles.

It’s those tiny 26 inch wheels that are throwing you Mike

Jamseo, is it possible to get a layback post for a tenner or so?

I have the same problem but also had it before I moved to 1x. I put it down to age.

Our lot like the boden teapots which allow you to stop the leaves brewing at the correct time. Nothing worse than bitter tasting tea that has stewed. I work for a tea company so am hoping they know what they are talking about 🙂

Regarding the comments on saddle height, I find that if I put it to the height I need, which is about another inch, it makes the situation worse. I am going to go back to having the seat set in the centre of the rails, pop seat to proper height and then try moving the bars a touch towards me. In my mind this would cramp me up even more however it will be a good test to see which direction to take things.

Spent a good part of the day sorting the garden out and doing tip runs. The boy decided he wanted to help and was so funny as he spent all his time telling me about the value of hard work etc etc and how good we would feel when we had finished all this hard work 🙂

Persuaded the family to join me at QECP late afternoon and I had a couple of runs down the section of th red which hasn’t been destroyed by the logging activity. Still really muddy in places unfortunately but enough dry sections to get some speed up and have some fun 🙂

Thanks all, have a few things to try out now. Other bike is a small full suss and is loads better with regards to the weight on hands issue, but it is a very different bike as it’s 150 travel and quite slack.

Photos would help indeed but only if I had a way of getting me onto here. Other than the pain in the bum that is Flickr I know no other way of getting pics up n here 🙁

Reasonable amount of seatpost showing probably could go more to get full leg stretch but it accentuates the weight on bar problem so I keep as low as I can

Went for a pootle down wickham railway and into Bere Forest this afternoon with my daughter. I was amazed how muddy it was, went out in my non riding denim shorts ( hot pant style obv) and my new Morvello tshirt stayed reasonably clean due to mudguards until trying to load bikes back onto car and got the new shirt filthy 🙁 when will it all dry out??

Well that rain will certainly have returned various wooded areas to the mess that they were a few months ago. Let’s hope it all drys up quickly, I want to get the darn mudguards off the bike once and for all.
