    Hi wonny

Check out Dealextreme they do the Magicshine MJ-872 for £88.80 with a single battery – although it does not call it a ‘Enduro’ model. I got some lights from them last (the mickey mouse ears ones) year and although they took about 10 days to arrive they are v good.

Hi – I have been using pliers too and a small tool would be useful as the flats of the core do get rounded eventually.

Before going tubelass & using Stans valves I used to use the schwalble tubes with removable presta valve cores with stans no flats sealant. This worked a treat and on changing my winter tyres (mud) to summer ones there were always pinned to the tubes with many thornes… I have also put stans fluid in tubes with schrader valves (car type ones) which also have the removable valve.

I carry a spare tube for emergencies and pliers to undo the small nut holding the tubeless valve in the wheel as this is in tight & diffficult to undo in the area around the spokes.

Where is your little valve core tool from Jack?

    Great read everyone!

    Go and get one – I did…

I bought a frame off here at the end of last year & built it up over the winter. Its a large and I am 6ft with a 32″ inside leg measurement. I have a set back seat & a 110mm stem as I like to stretch out…

I was going to use one of my other bikes as a doner – but it was so good & light I decided to keep it a weight weenie. Many components came off here (thanks all) and its built with XTR stuff throughout. Crankset & cassette; Rear & front mechs & shifters; Hope cemamic BB; Cane Creek headset (reduced to take 1 1/8 steerer (because I have several sets on other bikes; Hope Evo 2 hubs with ZTR with tubeless Nobby Nics; and finished with Ritchey carbon seat pin; stem and handlebars. Hope tec M4 brakes; Goodridge hoses & floating rotors & matchmakers connecting the shifters.

It was high 25lbs with a set of 140mm Dual air Revs – but I have just put a set of 140mm Dual air revs with U-Turn, lock-out and a maxle which has just pushed it up to 26.5lbs.

It really is a great bike – great fun to build & even better to ride. Get one. I am in North Herts if you want a test ride!

    Hi Aracer
Do as you normally do. As a teacher of 25+ yrs & Dep Head (keep it quite though on here!) I have been ‘done’ several times & been quizzed at the most senior level about school performance etc.

Under the new OFSTED ‘good’ is now only ‘satisfactory’ so your school will need all the help it can get. As an Assoc’ Gov you will also want to do your bit.

It will look good for your school to have members of the public (parents etc)showing enough interest in coming into the shool to support childrens’ learning. They may look at how the IT teacher interacts with you & you with the children.

They may also ask you sly ‘off the record’ questions like ‘is it always like this’? Or other delving questions – but NOTHING is off the record.

Do your bit – and hopefully you’ll be pleased at contributing to a good outcome…. All the best!!

    Hi
I have a topeak beam rack that fits onto the seat pin. They do 3 types depending on the size of your frame & you can get pannier frames for them too. I also have a topeak bag that slides onto the rack & has a QR catch. It has extendable panniers that fold out of their pockets & hook onto the botton of the pannier frames.

Last time I used it I had an alaminium frame & seat pin – now I have carbon & carbon – so would be reluctant to use it on this bike. Those who are more savy re engineering might argue with this…..

    Hi

As druidh says – a cheap luggage scale from fleabay.

I bought a digital one for about £8.00 posted & its brilliant. It has a looped handle which I loop through my extended bike stand & hang my bike on its hook by using a cord string looped around the seat pin & handlebar stem.

It weighs in Kg & Lbs and even locks on when the weight settles. 25.9lbs at present for a full suss – but it is carbon…..

Yep – did about 2 hours / 18 miles in the wet & gore!

It was only a slight drizzle when I went out at 8.30 & was prepared to abort the regular ride but 3 others had braved the elements – so off we went…

Did the local tracks around Hitchin / Gt Offley – but the slightest bit of rain & they mud-up on the surface & become v skittish.

Hosed the bike off & then got the wife to hose me off!!

All good news regarding SSC Bikes – they came through & delivered my 9 sp XTR cassette in about 2 days.

It was £23.30 cheaper than CRC(which are usually the cheapest anyway) including P&P and about the same price as used ones on Fleabay!!

I can only thoroughly recommend them!!

It would be interesting to get some more reviews on this company either good OR bad…

I have just ordered an XTR cassette which came up £20 cheaper than CRC (including P&P) – which is some going.

I have my fingers crossed that all will be OK – but I will get back either way…..

    Hi WL

Like others posted I have a stigmatism and couldn’t get on with the hard weighted contacts I tried some time ago so I have ridden with my glasses on for some time – with clip on shades in the summer.

However at speed the wind blew around the sides & made my eyes water & I didn’t feel I looked the business!

After much research I invested in a set of Rudy Project Rydon glasses with photochromatic impact(X)resistant lenses with an RX insert inside them with my vari-focal lenses.

These were expensive (£200+ with lenses)but are brilliant and really look the business & work at speed. I use them in all conditions for cycling and have used them for windsurfing too. They are black & I have just bought a cheap white Rydon frame on ebay so I can swap the lenses & inserts over for a change.

Other makes do RX inserts too to take your normal lenses…

    Regards – John
