Mr Nutt – They aren't as light as youd think.

I guess mine as a SS is about 25lbs with it's normal front wheel on. Jeff's aim wasn't light weight but the best ride quality.

Rob – Why do you bother?
We all know you don't like Jones' but your coments on every "Jones" post don't do you any favours.

    175 to £185.

I sold my fully built up one with Pikes 454's etc this summer for £1000 but it cost £2200 at least.

Not much use now that CRC have 10% off if you use code christmas10 before midnight on the 27th or Merlin have 10% off until the new year.

futon river crossing the handling is much sharper with the normal wheel on it, you must get one.
I only use the fat wheel when I'm doing any rough or technical "downhill" decents and for long xc rides where speed isn't an issuse.

I run the front at 9.5psi without a problem (digi gauge and yes I've got an anorak)

It's doable on a rigid and the climbs will be easier but the downhills won't be as much fun.

Do you like climbing over going downhill?

It's just the same as mine but I've permanently SS'ed mine.

I've got a thin "normal" wheel up front on a wide hub as well.

Your saddle does look quite low on the shots though.

As for the doubters. You do need to test ride one as nothing I've ridden has the same all day xc feel. Actually a test ride doesn't do it justice but you'd get the idea at least.

A 7.30am ride to our self storage place (moving house) to swap over bikes only to find they didn't open until 9.
Rode home and drove there later with bike in car on route to mates house

Toughest event I did last year but I did it on a single speed.

    Came in 93rd in 4hr 19mins.

I should have just moved in to our new house around the time of this event, so I can't commit this time.

Personally I wouldn't mind a Rumblefish, but beggars can't be choosers

My Rumblefish 2 turned up last week and had a bit of a spin on it this weekend. I can't really review it as yet as I've ridden rigids and hardtails for the last 4 or 5 years, so the smoothing feeling may take some getting used to.

That's about all you need apart from a route book and strong soled boots for the ladders or climbing shoes for the tricky stuff

Make sure you enjoy those black route table tops on your rigid bike.

It's no problem if you go with the flow, even the log shore is OK as long as you've a good dentist.

I'm in, but don't have a pocket camera just yet. So next year I'll go for it, when it arrives, as well as carrying on with our Photo a Day 365 pool http://www.flickr.com/groups/onephotoeveryday/

Apparently they (Merlin) will only be producing one road bike and one mountain bike model next year.

    Lets hope they fail.

listen all the time when riding

(out on my own riding off-road)
not stupid enough to do it on the road, to many idiot car/lorry drivers out there

+1 but not all the time off road, only on my solo training rides

Just to let you know people are still on the look out for your bike as I've noticed a change in questioning when I'm on the Jones.

It used to be, "what the ****", "tell me what you think of it", "Why's it look like that"

I went for an easy bimble around Llandegla today with a few mates and the question I was asked twice was "How long have you had your Jones?"

It might still turn up. Fingers crossed
