I don't mean ride around the house sorry, the wife would kill me.

I ment around the estate and driveway.

I'm guessing 24" would be better for what I want to improve, am I right?

johnclimber, the jones is not niche now.
ssstu said so earlier in this post.

if someone was to get the 1st of a kind, that would be superniche, right?

If there are only 2 SS's with the fat wheel in the country I call that niche(ish) 😉

But I always bow to SSStu's knowledge

    Cheers guys or gals.

Down for Friday evening until Sunday afternoon.

City centre shorter walks and eating would be best but a beach nearby would be good as well.

Is that massive front tyre really hard work on a ride?
I'm guessing you run it at a very low pressure to soak up the bumps.

No, it rolls realy well & yes at just under 10psi (normal pressure) it gives at least 3" of travel

That might be it for this year, as it's raining outside and 2 degrees

I ran mine with an inner tube at 30psi without any problems on this mornings 2 to 3 hour flat towpath and cyclepath ride.

The Surley Endomorph up front at 6psi helped as well.

Well I wouldn't put my life at risk going to help any one who's stupid enough to risk walking on ice no matter if it was on a canal or a lake should it break on them.

Does anyone know anyone who's ever got a ticket from an average speed camera?

No, I've often thought the same

    Why the silly wheels then?

    Because I can

Stu the truss fork is a great place to mount a camera.

My only attempt so far came out crap though so I won't share it here 😳

Surly Endomorph up front at 6psi

    Just perfect

Ghetto Spike tyres out back thanks to STW

A great ride was had, just shame it was only along cycle trails and canal sides.
Not one skid or slips even when out of the saddle.

    OT slightly

What's the insurance and tax differences between say a full sized Transit and a Vauxhall Combo 1.3CDTI?

Also can you get a bike in the smaller one without removing the wheels (from the bike)?

111 screws in the rear Crossmark, 3 layers of Duct tape and the front Surley Endomorph dropped down to 6psi.

Wish me luck for tomorrow mornings local ice ride.

Sorry I measured from the axle to the bottom of the top head set, I thought that's what you asked me to measure.
I've never heard of the AC length 😳

The measurement you want is aprrox 440mm I hope

Is this the correct place to measure on the updated shot above?

    JohnClimber

    Joop

I've just sent you the measurement of approx 606mm but let Brant and Explosion have their say if it will suit.

    JohnClimber,

That's very helpful, my headtube is 120 so that should go, don't you think?

Can you mail me a few pics and your price?

    Thanks,

    JohnClimber,

I am interested in your Jones forks, what is the minimal headtube length needed to be able to install it?

    Joop

There isn't many cheap 29ers out there, as manufacturers know we'll pay over the odds for new ideas.

I am only 5'8" though, is it just a myth that they're better suited to larger riders?

STOP PRESS – YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE TALL TO RIDE 29ERS

Sorry to shout, but I've been looking in on this thread but not getting involved until now.

I'm 5'8" and I've only one 26er now for nipping out with the dog locally.

    I've three 29ers – 1 x SS rigid, 1 x geared rigid (meduim frame) and 1 x FS (17" frame)

They are perfect for what I want, they make up for my lack of skill as the wheels fly over stuff better than 26ers.

There is no toe overlap and I won't be going back to 26ers in the foreseeable future
