John, could do with going for a ride tbh. The D2D course has all been strimmed etc and people have been riding it so should be easy to find. Let me know when you are free and I'll see what I am up to.

I'll be free Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with the SS as long as I've nothing to study in the evenings. I'll give you a call.
I could pick you up or you pick me up and we could park on the main road through the woods to save time

    That's a sod Curly.

What sort of work are you looking for?

There are some good recruitment companies out there in different industries?

Are you riding early next week as I'm down your way again until Thursday

I used Maxxis Ascents this last Sunday for the event.

It's a bit early to plan for next years event isn't it?

I beat last years time (3hrs 44mins) and position(76th), finishing this year in 41st in a time of 3hrs 38mins.
Quite chuffed, but now we are just killing time in the rain waiting for this afternoons ferry back to the land of the living

    29ers are better than 26ers…………

I've 3 of them and another on order I wouldn't go back.

The only 26er I've kept is my local shops and dog running bike

My Ay UP's failed just over 2 seasons old.

Toutie has turbo'ed them 3 times better than they were

I wouldn't buy another set of AY UPS and I wouldn't recommend them now either.

Any evening viewers out there have motorised (missed from 1st post) one spare?

Well done, when they ask you about it tell them that you feel that in a calm situation you would have done better but you are more than happy with your performance under the pressure you were under at the time.

I did one a month ago and got the job. I was scored as "below the average graduate candidate" not bad for a self taught thicky like me….

    I wouldn't contemplate SS'ing it.

Bonzo off here does it every year on his SS in 4 hours.

I HAVE to take a geared bike to make sure I get a good head start on him as I couldn't bear for him to pass me…..

I think Terrahawk miss typed as it's 13.5 miles to the start of the first climb.
But then again it feeels like 23ish miles so may be he was right 😉

As long as it's dry for several days before hand you'll be ok on anything.

I'm riding on semi slicks but if there's a lot of rain I'll possibly go up to Racing Ralphs. That should give you some sort of idea.

Thinking of moving on all my 26" stuff and sticking with bigger wheels, will I regret it in "X" months time?

No, I won't be going back to Micky Mouse small wheels.
All mine have tiny wheeled bikes have gone apart from my local shop won't be knicked On*One ss.

If you need something for big hills what about this?

2 of my LBS's today didn't carry any replacement jockey wheels, another LBS was closed and the 4th didn't pick up the phone as I didn't want to get there to be told he didn't have them as well.

    Internet for consumables for me.

Honda Accord Tourer. I have the older 7th generation and its huge. Can easily fit (ie no fiddling them in the right way) 2 large bikes with wheels off in the boot, seats up and all hidden below the load cover.

Craggyjim – Job swap means my Mondeo hatchback is been replaced by the new Accord estate.

Can you get a MTB in complete with wheels on in the back of the Accord estate with the back seats down?
Only one of my bikes will go in like that in the Mondeo.

So as a user what is the burn time for your ayup from full to empty

The Ay Up battery I send to Smudge first off which we now know there was nothing wrong with it claimed to be 6 hours. It did run out once on a long night ride after I forgot to recharge it between rides so 6 hours is about right for me.

Smudge – will your new battery you did for me be the same or better?

Back garden all new Ay Up trout style test

This the full power of Trouties Lunem Liberator

My new and massively improved Ay Ups

And here's the now blinded Archie who's now looking for compensation off Troutie 😉

To sum up Troutie http://troutie.com/ has made my Ay Ups at least 3 times brighter.

Another bonus is that Trouties still not sent me his address to send my money to.

    Thanks for all the help.

I joined up with Curly before my job interview and had a good scoot around the forest.

I was offered the job today and I'll be back and stopping over in Bury for the next 2 weeks mid week (mid week).

So, if anyone is up for some Bury St Edmunds quiet lanes fast training rides after work then please let me know.
