If you are running low on places I think my broken ribs won’t be repaiered enough to “race” so I’m not sure if I’ll bimble at the back or if you need places I’ll be up for a bit of marshalling duty if needed.

Tankslapper – roughly where abouts in the country do you live?

I’ve worked in the industry for 15 years and know which are the best stores to use.

    Thanks all.

    Update.

Still not getting a good nights sleep and I can’t sleep on my left side (my prefered side) mainly because of my hip which I landed on but didn’t break.

3 sneezes so far yesterdays didn’t hurt as much as the two the two day before.

3 full days off sick plus a couple of 1/2 days and I worked from home (working 100%) until this time last week then a normal full week, then on the road although it really knackered me out each evening.

Still uncomfy but mainly with aches rather than pains.

Next Saturday morning is planning to be my first ride out but at a very leisurely pace over flat non technical ground, but it’s a ride all the same.

Singlespeedstu – You’re not wrong, but at least I was having a go.

moose2008 – “Do you think that clip ins would have prevented your accident?” – Who know’s but the last thing I remember was looking down while in mid air and seeing my feet off the front of the pedals, it was doomed to hurt upon landing from that moment onwards.

Not ridden my fat bike (or any bike) since riding on flats for the first time in 6 years while at Llandegla on Dec 30th.

Jumped, saw feet off pedals in mid air, must have bounced on my 8psi Larrys so high I woke up 30 minutes later surrounded by paramedics, 3 nights in Wrexham hospital, 3 broken ribs, knackered thigh, hurting and blood all over.

    Just remember one thing

FAT BIKES CAN’T JUMP (with me on board anyway)

Here’s the email I got back when I asked about motorhome camping.

“There will be ample car camping space available so there should be no worries at all.”

Wife and dog in a motorhome via Holyhead > Dublin then after the “event” head out west and tour the coast.

    Not this year. Sorry

The bog pushing on the wrong route choice put us off a bit, why were some markers in the middle of nowhere?

rOcKeTdOg – I’ll take you up on that offer of a night ride next month or the month afterwards.
Which mid week night do you normally ride on?

At least the creaking/rubbing of the bones has given way, but the muscle aches and bruises are still here.

Off work for another week for more recovery as I don’t think I can change gear as it’s on my left side.

As they say in Monty Pythons Holy Grain “I’m getting better”

I like CE but the 1st show was a little lame, there was too much Health and Safety going on to make it entertaining. I watched 3/4 of it but even the thought of putting in the star who lost in to a car which was to roll on it’s roof was hardly death defying enough to keep me tuned in until the end.

I used flats on mine in the snow but I’m back to clip in now it’s gone.

I wish I had changed to clips on Thursday.

Just remember “Fat Bike Can’t Jump” (with me on board at any rate)

Thanks for all your concerns and pi$$ taking

I slept so much better in my own bed last night, in fact I’m still in it now while typing this.

The aches and pains are still here in a big way, the swelling on my left hip is still massive, but I don’t need to take the pain killing tablets every 4 hours I can now stretch them to every 6 hours.

I need to phone the boss this afternoon to ask for the rest of this week off, wish me luck.

Sort yourself out quickly fella. I’ve got a high-vis vest with your name on it* at HtN.

    *If your name is Marshal.

If you change it to JohnClimber count me in for a refund (spare ticket) and I’ll come over and help you out. If not I might just ride/push it

I’ve just found out that I was out cold for up to 30 mins as all I remember is seeing were my feet bounce off the pedals (first time on flats) then I saw as I looked up were two or 3 paramedics looking over me then a caring club member fighting for the best position to get the best photo angle (below), then I was straight in the ambulance and away.

Many thanks to all those who helped me out especially Tom who stayed with me until the ambulance came and I didn’t even say thank you to him at the time, and Johnny P and Eric for sorting out the return home of my bike and car
And to the paramedics and all those at Wrexham Hospital for making the New Year one not to forget

Many thanks for all your kind thoughts and wishes.

I’ll post up more later but I need to rest after spending 3 nights and the New Year in Wrexham hospital. With a 5 to 10 minute concusion, 3 broken ribs and the risk of fluid on the lungs, as well as many bruises.

Bernaard – This was only my 2nd crash that saw me in hospital in over 15 years of riding and Long Mynd was only a cut 😉

To all the BT owners. When you first got them, how long was it before you were comfortable with leaving them on their own?

If you cage them to start with, then not too long at all from what I can remember.
Then limit them to the kitchen (or similar) single room when going out.
