I’m not going to make it to take photos this time, sadly real life has got in the way

Bloody hell no presure on me then.

I’ve just ordered a Hero camera, if it arrives on Friday it will get used as well.

You’re not going to have much time as the race is only 2 hours. Find me before the start and I’ll give you a marshal’s map which has all the accident blackspots interesting bits marked on it.

    How will I spot you?

I’ll be on the blue silly bike if that helps?

    Ragley Carbon Carnegie.

I’ve 3 sets of Carneigies (1 x carbon) and I love em for their perfect angles and fit.

And all for less than £100

Am I right in saying it’s north from M60 on to Bury New Road, left at the McDonalds on to Higher Road.
Left onto Park Lane, cross Philips Park Road and then back over the motorway.

Fast rolling, quick clearing, narrow but comfy, lightweight but puncture resistant, soft compound mud tyres. I reckon.

I reckon I’ll be completely the opposite of the impossible tyre in the rubber stakes #Larry’s

Rich – was the second shot taken on the “other” side of the Mynd down at the south end of the ridge?

If it is was it as slippy as **** like I remember it?

    I know it’s at a new place

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&safe=off&q=Phillips+Park,+Whitefield,+Manchester&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Philips+Park,+Whitefield,+Manchester+M45+7QJ,+United+Kingdom&gl=uk&ei=eoT-TO-yCpK5hAeOzZHDCw&oi=geocode_result&ved=0CBoQ8gEwAA&ll=53.533038,-2.308127&spn=0.008277,0.009806&t=h&z=17

    But I didn’t read it properly so it’s a
“A 2 hour lap based event on a varied 3.5 mile course”

I might do a lap looking for a good spot to snap away and snap away on a 2nd lap.

    Is it over 2 laps?

If so I might stop halfway round and take photos of the leaders and only do a lap.

I’ll never win, so I’ll be out for a laugh instead and try and get some good shots instead.

As for the power I use to have to run the LL on full with my Ay Ups.
Tonight both the LL’s and the new Bastid helmet light were on 1/2 power and even then cars on a short road section were flashing me as they were too bright and a couple more really slowed down when coming towards us as they couldn’t see their bit of road clearly.

Its difficult to get realistic photos of beam shots
Are you getting a ride tonight
then you will know if it is better than the Hid it replaced .

Let us know how it stacks up on a ride

Will do, I’ll take my camera as well.

Your right about the shots, the firework settings don’t do them any justice but the normal levels as a bit OOT as well.

    JohnClimber

    I didn’t get a manual with it 😉
So mine I feel has 4 settings
    off
    low
    med
    high (is this boost?)

Anyway heres some shots I took using my Sony Cyber Shots Firework setting which gives a natural light but maybe doesn’t show it at it’s best then a normal shot which is a bit of over kill I guess?

    Yes the fence needs painting….

Trouties new prototype “Bastid” light on High
Taken on a pocket Sony Cybershot Fireworks settings

    His Lumen Liberator on High

Both lights together, white rabbit at 12 paces back fence at 20 paces

And now on the normal setting without flash

It even melted the rabbit away

Don’t ride in front of me 😯

A package has arrived at home.

If it’s Trouties so called “Bastid” light I’ll get some beam shots up on here tonight alongside his Lunem Liberator shots for a comparison.

Going to give it a miss this year, I can’t be arsed with the waiting for the ferries, faffing, expensive hotels and the sea sickness all for a sub 3hr 39mins ride.
