I’d say 4 hours is pretty good on SS…how do you find the road section?

I don’t know I can’t see Bonzo’s legs spinning from up the front end but I guess they are whirling like a mad whirly thing, or he’s been pulled to the foot of first hill by his son on a geared bike 😉

My goal it just to make sure I get up the last climb before he does.

Does anyone else fancy riding to the start on the Saturday evening after registration and wild camping towards the start line*?

Then riding back to Douglas after the event?

*camping gear put on the van that transports the gearto the end

What’s the start like with 1700 all setting off?

Not a real problem if your fast enough to start near the front, hold your place and have good sharp elbows, worked for me in 2009 & 2010.

But last year I believe every one had a timing chip so it’s a shame everyone is still forced to start excatly at the same time. I don’t know why the riders can’t set off when they want in an hour open window.

    Shame there’s no SS category

If there’s a SS category there should be a Fat Bike category

Can’t help sorry but stay close enough to ride to the trails.

£6.90 now and the machine doesn’t give change, so £7 a day #ripoff

Results up on their website from this morning,

    Today with Archie = 27:53
    PB = 23:10

71st out of 107, in the past I’ve been in the top 50, but who care’s if I’m slower? I can blaim the dog

Done 2 before at around 24mins, this morning I went with our Border Terrier what with him sniffing, looking for squirrels, weeing and stopping until I gave him a snack we did it in under 28mins.

But the good thing about Parkrun is that it’s for all, the sprinters the plodders and everyone in between. If you were always out to beat your PB you’ll soon get bored with it.

How did they get up onto and over the raised wooden sided steps part, just after the steep bit eases off a bit?
Getting to that bit is doable but not over that step I reccon

92nd I only got lapped once and considering my bike weighed in at 42lbs I’m chuffed.

Or did one of the fat tyre boys do it????

No we didn’t, both of us completed 5 laps but the Pugsley beat my Mukluk by around 10 minutes.

The fat tyres were awesome for 25% of the lap, sailing over anything rutted or technical.

Another fantastic event, top marks to ALL involved, the cheering marshals and the banter out on course.
Sorry I couldn’t hang around to collect my 2nd place goody bag what with the organisers trying to get everyone up the steep snowy road.
Glad I parked in the Rugby Club now after seeing the carnage.
Thanks for saying you will post it out or I can collect. Your call.

Thanks again for the best event of the year

Quick question – this is my first event of this or any other type – will i need to carry drinks bottles with me or will there be some sort of drinks points en route?

You will need at carry water unless it’s changed this year.

A big thanks to Dave and Andrew for almost everything they have done aready and for tomorrow, but not for the Buff climb I hate you both for that
