Half fat is great fun but isn’t any good on the sand or deep snow.

I’ve got half fat and full fat.

As SSS says “I’d sell any bike before the Jones” 4 months ago I had a swap around and fitted my Alfine 11 speed on it but the constant problems I was having with the gears I stopped riding it.
The geared hub went off for a service under warranty and took it for it’s first ride last weekend and I fell straight back in love with it all over again even after 1 ride.

I had one for 3 years and 100k miles.

The only problem was the harsh ride but I got it new with bigger alloy wheels, if the one you’re after has smaller wheels and more rubber it’s a keeper.

Don’t trust the mph, but that’s the same for all cars I guess when you’ve a heavy right foot

Nice, wonder how much it weighs with 100mm rims and BFL’s

Should be fine as long as your not too heavy.

Got them on on 4 out of 6 bikes and they are perfect for xc riding

3 of my bikes have BB7’s and I love them, using Superstar’s replacement pads they last for ages.

I’ve 2 bikes with “proper” brakes on and these are stronger stoppers when there’s more downhill but for most of my rides BB7’s brakes are perfect.

Thanks all, shame it’s not way marked as i could get down there earlier than 5.30, but not to worry I’ll just get lost.

My local forest – so i’m always gonna say their great
After you gave me a proper kicking on the E2E – then i’d be pleased to show you around if your down from 5.30 onwards

Ok Jon you’re on, how you fixed for Monday 19th Nov at 5.30?
I’ve only a small car with a full boot so it will be have to be the Single Speed as it goes in the back seat easier.

    Another question (sorry)

When looking for cassettes do they have 9 speed, 10 speed etc but front cogs don’t have a such 9 or 10 speed etc?

On about the 3rd smallest sprocket.

That’s a reasonably tall bottom gear for a 29er though, a 34t may be better.

Cheers do you mean 34 on the front or back?

    JohnClimber

    Cheers breatheasy.

So, if I get a 36 x 11 rear and a 36 on the front, if I was in big ring where would it be on the cassette that I’ve got at the moment?

Best bike I’ve ever owned. I love mine, but I’m in the north west so sorry you can’t ride mine unless you want a drive.

I ordered a medium but a year later the meduim frame bag I ordered didn’t fit it.

The large one did so I must have a large one (u er missus) but for some reason it rides and feels just perfect to me.

This is weirdly interesting, can I ask a couple of dumb questions please:

    1. How would a fat bike fare on the mix of peat bog and gritstone in the the Peak, also the mud and slippage of the limestone in the White Peak – I have never seen one around here.

    2. If running a fat bike in the above locality, what ratio would be best for a 26″ SS? Gave up gears a year ago and want to stay “clean!”

    1) Fit it with Nate’s and you’ll be fine

    2) Depending on your fitness I’d run an 18 or 19 on the back, don’t forget it’s outer diameter is a 29er even if it’s got a 26″ rim

It’s amazing how we only heard about that the odd riders who were on it plus a few rumours and accusations at the time.

Now it’s sounds like only a very few weren’t on it.
