Leave your car at Heysham, they you’re only on the island for 1 night.
Sail from Liverpool and your stranded for 3 nights.

Done it 3 times, each time getting a gold, so no need to do it again.

If you’re quick, get as close to the start line as you can.

I’ve an 11 speed and use it off road, I wouldn’t buy that same again.

    1 x 10 would be better

Another mainstream manufacture bandwagon jumper, next they’ll be stopping making mtb’s with normal 26er wheels 😉

The best event of the year.

Hardly worth riding this winter with no HtN to train for.

It’s all rollable so don’t worry. The rock garden is a bit rough if you ride rigid.
Take it slow and you should live

We use an old suntour suspension seatpost on the back of the tandem and it works a treat.

Like this but an old one

Just got our first mtb tandem mainly because the missus isn’t to confident on her bike as she didn’t a bike in her youth, so as for speed I can’t say it’s any faster.
It’s defiantly slower on my normal local rides, but we’ve only done 80 miles in 2 weeks.

My 11 speed developed a terminal fault after 1000miles, but up until that point it was never truly reliable – skipping, very fussy to minute cable tension adjustments, hence more prone to skipping in a MTB setting.

I sent my slipping 11 speed back under warranty and it had a full service and shipped back to me, it was sort of ok for 4 months but still slipped gears 2 or 3 times a ride when under load going up hill.
Last weekend it wouldn’t stay in 2nd at all.
Did an oil change (oil expensive) and noticed the cable had stretched a fraction, tightened this up. But not ridden it since doing this so I can’t comment.

If I could have my time again I would defiantly avoid any Shimano internal hub and go for a 1 x 10 set up.

    Or maybe a Rohloff
