EasyJet & Jet2 also fly into Venice – there are two airports serving Venice, Marco Polo is the main one, I think Treviso is the other although not actually that close

If you go at this time of year you might want to pack a pair of wellies. Aqua Alta (high water) can often be knee deep in places.
Four days is probably more than you need to see Venice so get on the local train to Verona & have a wander round there. If you get bored of Verona then Desenzano del Garda is only 20-30 minutes further on the train, and a walk down the hill to Lake Garda

Favourite is Geordie. Least favourite is Scouse. I’m not mad keen on my own either (Leeds/Wakefield tempered with a bit of Bratfud)

1:144? Like N-scale vs OO railways, four times as much in the same area ;-)

But forget about detailing up anything smaller than a 737!

1:48 Huey by Revell is a decent size

Revell 1:72 helicopter has had two coats of colour (deep metallic blue)
Needs a coat of clear gloss before I mask off & paint the window frames in semi-gloss black. Then decals. Then more clear gloss (and semi-gloss) to seal them in. Then i can unmask the windows & add the fiddly bits – and at that scale they really are fiddly

Go. BC is wonderful. if I could get a job there I’d be off like a shot. Having family there helps

Ours is 18ish. We’ve had him 10 years and he was 8ish when we rescued him.

He’s been off his food lately but we’ve found some new flavours that he likes so fingers crossed for a few more years

Have you lot all given up?!

Sadly, yes. Last few batches went horrible so I assume my plate chiller is contaminated, and at £90 a pop I’m not likely to be buying another one soon.

Although I do have a grain kit ready to do if I can find the time

    Another Tamiya motorbike:

Suzuki GSX1100S Katana in 1:12 scale, built straight out of the box.

Working on a 1:72 Revell civilian helicopter now. Tiny.

One WTC + World Trade Center memorial
    Statue of Liberty
Empire State Building if you can stand queueing
    Central Park
shopping on 5th Avenue if that floats your boat
    USS Intrepid
    Broadway show
    Museums – loads of them

Niagara Falls – the falls themselves – are amazing, but not worth a road trip from NYC. Certainly not worth an overnight stay.
Have a couple of days in Toronto instead (and as well as NYC) & do the falls as a day trip, it’s only 90 minutes away

Would that will be Chris “goal at wembley on his premier league debut” Woods

Fair play to him, thought he’d end up warming the PL bench like Taylor, Byram and Cook before him.
But the point I was really trying to make was that we seem to be doing ok without him

While there are arguably better places to be born, there’s an awful lot worse. So yes, despite the brexit embarrassment, I am glad I’m British. Could be worse

Waldorf Astoria on Park Avenue between 49th & 50th street- public rooms are magnificent but when we stayed in 2015 the guest rooms looked like they hadn’t been touched since about 1980…

Looks like they’re onto it now, closed for refurb for up to 3 years 8O

Tbh Leeds to Harrogate is not a huge commute anyway, unless of course they’re south of the river

I commute Baildon to Ripon & back, it’s not a bad commute. Better than Baildon to Barnsley anyway , which was my previous job

What tthew said. Sorrento is nice, Capri overrated, Pompeii & Vesuvius in one day, Herculaneum another half day.

We also did a day trip to Rome but it’s not the best place to start from. Three to four hours on a coach, max three hours in Rome, then another 3-4 hours on coach back. A bit like staying in Leeds and taking a day trip to London

I bought a new telephoto lens (my words) for it just before I went to Vancouver Island in June. Got some nice pics…

New Model Army. Formed 1980, only the lead singer Justin Sullivan remains of the original line-up.

Hardly heard of n the mainstream but still touring to large audiences – especially in Europe (see the recent Woodstock festival in Poland) – and releasing new albums, they’re a hard band to pigeon-hole. Not metal, not punk, continually evolving.

Get some bigger speakers.. as long as your noise is louder than next doors noise you won’t hear them…

    Ah yes, noise wars. Unwinnable.
But a nice big drum kit being seen to be moved in can be a nice deterrent. Or a Marshall* 4×12

    *other guitar amps are available

I did mine in 2006, combining it with a nice dislocated ankle.
2 screws in the ankle to stabilise the tendons/ligaments and the whole thing in a cast to just below the knee, with crutches, for about 6-7 weeks. Cast off, screws out. I had to have physio to teach me how to walk on that leg again

Fine now but it does ache now & again, usually when the weather is bad
