Tried to watch last night’s episode but I got as far as Gregory getting a grilling from Negan. I’m sorely tempted to give up on it & just stick to Z Nation – at least that has a sense of humour

TBH I only really listen to music in the car and I tend to stick to CDs for that. My phone does connect but I have to push the volume to max on the phone before playing to get the same level coming out of the car as said CDs

Think i’ll give it a try while it’s free then make a decision based on the results

When I went I flew into Newark rather than JFK; no immigration queue. Bus from the airport to one block from Grand Central Terminus, $17 per person

Mrs_d has just got an iPhone 8plus after two years of envying my iPhone 6S (now upgraded to iPhone 8).
She loves it so far. Her previous phone was a Galaxy S6 which she hated, apart from the camera

Not the Tamiya 1:48 Sea Harrier I hope…
    It’s not a great kit

    Cheers pjm, that’s worth knowing.

I have a tin of Tamiya Smoke in my paint store

    Generally I don’t …

I did try pre-shading on a 1:48 Tornado, worked ok, but i’ve read it doesn’t really work on darker colours such as WWII camouflage patterns.

I haven’t really tried much in the way of weathering, but for cars & motorbikes it’s not really an issue is I present them in “showroom condition “ ;-)

Tamiya acrylics are great. Revell AquaColour acrylics are pretty good too, but do need a LOT of thinning as they’re mostly really thick out of the pot. I bought some Vallejo paints for the T-54 but haven’t tried them yet. Humbrol are said to be awful but I haven’t had a problem with them, maybe i’ve Been lucky…

    Nope, never been tempted.
Mind you, i’ve Been with Mrs_D since before I started my first permanent job

Have you got yourself an airbrush yet? You can buy canned air, cheaper in the short term than a compressor but gets expensive after a while. And annoying when you run out ten minutes after the local Hobbycraft has closed

I’ll try find it first. Only so many places it can be in a room 6’ x 7’

And here’s an earlier one, but I can only find one photo of it – Revell 1:72 BKK 165(?) “Space Design”:

Far too bloody small, how anyone works in 1:72 I don’t know

Next up, Tamiya 1:35 M-113ACAV with Eduard photoetch interior and exterior aftermarket mods

I have a Miniart 1:35 T-54B also in the stash, complete with interior detail and photoetch parts. And separate crew members. Well over 1000 parts to that one so I guess I’ll be posting photos around Christmas 2018… or maybe even 2019!

    Revell 1:24 VW Campervan – T3 I think

I managed to lose one of the indicator lenses :-(

Built straight out of the box, apart from the hub caps , door mirror glass and radiator surround, which are Bare Metal Foil; paints mostly Revell AquaColour, a couple of Tamiya acrylics where I didn’t have the Revell equivalent

Kit went together ok, no flash but plenty of ejector pin marks, some in places where I couldn’t do anything about them without losing the detail around them e.g the door mirrors

Canmore rather than Banff. If nothing else, it’s outside the national park so you don’t need to buy the permit

Definitely do not stay in the economy section of the Lake Louise Village Inn

Re electronic kits, i’m With nickhit3.

I said I had an Alesis kit.

“Had” being the operative word. I think I used it 4 times, not once in a solo practice s session

That doesn’t look particularly good to me as the pads are not in a particularly “standard” layout and it doesn’t like like you can adjust them

I used to have an Alesis DM6 Pro kit. Ok if you don’t mind the pads not feeling like an acoustic kit. The bass pad being connected to the floor transmits every hit directly into the floor. Ok if you’re on concrete or in a detached house, not so good if you have neighbours attached to you.

I understand the higher end mesh pads a) feel more like regular drums but b) cost a fair bit more.
Do you have access to a garage/shed?

Canmore is only an hour drive from Calgary and well worth at least a visit. Banff & Lake Louise are within an hour of Canmore.

Vancouver Island is lovely – stayed just outside Parksville this summer. Tofino is a good three to four hour drive from Parksville, according to my b-I-l, so we went to Campbell River for our whale watching tour.

Didn’t see any bears, wolves, coyotes, moose or cougars but did see plenty of eagles

Amen to that. Work is something you have to do, to earn the money you need, to do the things you want to do. It is not your be all and end all

Mrs_D was diagnosed June 2014 age 46. Surgery August 2014, two attempts to get all of the tumour out – lumpectomy rather than full mastectomy.

Each case is different but she had three months of chemotherapy (which did make her hair fall out) followed by five weekly doses of radiotherapy and then Tamoxifen for the next five years, then further meds for five years after that. All going well so far.

Breast cancer is one of the ‘better’ cancers to get as survival rates are so good, especially with early diagnosis. Much better than say pancreatic cancer, which is an absolute pig – 3% survival rate for that one

If you need a couple of days off work, take them. They’ll manage without you for a couple of days.

You can take up to a week off sick self certificated without needing a doctor’s note.

Or use holiday if you have any left and you’re worried about “taking a sickie”

My airbrush is a Neo by Iwata. Not too expensive. Compressor was about £80

Acrylics by Tamiya & Revell , thinned with either Tamiya thinners or water depending how tight you are. Other makes are available

We haven’t had a decent England side since 1996,..over 20 years

Yep. I remember the demolition of Holland and Gascoigne’s amazing goal against Scotland. Missed the later Germany 5-1 win as I was on a flight somewhere.

Problem is now, this side kind of picks itself as they’re the only 25 English players actually getting regular games in the Premier League. Unless of course you exclude the “unfashionable” teams, like all England managers always do.

Did I read correctly that the fans were throwing paper planes, and cheering those that reached the grass? Sweet baby jesus

Not a fan of being drunk. I like wine & beer but not really one for spirits. Of late i’ve found that a glass of red can last over on hour so I’m usually sleepy long before I’m anywhere near being even so much as “refreshed” let alone drunk

    Jet2.com do Venice city breaks

If you’re still set on going to Venice, fly with easyJet and stay at Hotel Delfino in Mestre, just on the mainland. Will be cheaper than staying in the old town. 15 & 45 bus goes direct from airport & stops outside the hotel.
You’ll need to use local bus to get into the old town but it’s only €3 return
