Late passing my test at 26. First car was a year later, 1992, it was a 1982 Renault 5 1.2l TR three door with a red velour interior and a four speed box and a very long gear lever. Managed to get two years out of it before various bits of the suspension snapped, not economical to repair. O to sixty in about three weeks but bags of character

for the kick drum, stuff it completely with pillows. That just leaves the snare & cymbals to deal with

RAF Waddington (?) has an annual air show. Scampton is home to the Red Arrows and was home to 617 Squadron (Dambusters) during WWII.

Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight is based nearby, has a museum & is well worth a visit

not quite as hard to get to as, say, Norwich, but not far off

For practice at home, yes I would, if I had the room for my acoustic kit. Benefit of that is you just need to swap the heads back when you have a gig / show, where for me an acoustic kit is far preferable

Unless I had the budget for a top end Roland kit. But then i’d probably spend it on a nice Drum Workshop or top end Sonor acoustic kit ;-)

as it is my band has a permanent rehearsal room set up in a mill on the other side of town. Nobody gets annoyed by the noise up there

    All three locos not running?

if you’re near Bradford, try Frizinghall Models & Railways, strangely now in Baildon, not Frizinghall

if near Liverpool, try Hattons. If near Sheffield, Rails Of Sheffield

You can replace the batter heads on an acoustic kit with mesh heads. Same size, same feel, no noise. Apart from the cymbals. Which you can get mutes for

i had an Alesis electronic kit for a while. Liked the brain which allowed different sounds. Hated the pads, especially the kick pad. More noise through the floor than my acoustic kick drum. Well, maybe not, but it certainly wasn’t silent.

I think Not to fence the open front garden…without the prior written consent of the council says all you need to know

i guess you can do what you like with the back garden. Except maybe keeping chickens

Had my honeymoon in Lagos. Quite enjoyed it. And the town was quite nice too

I still remember the Stone Bass steak we both had at one restaurant; it was about 8in across & 1in thick, amazing piece of fish. Couldn’t face the bacalhau though

Yorkshire Evening Post today reported that RAF fighter jets flew over Leeds “and other parts of Yorkshire” today.

Remarkable, that, seeing as Leeds is kind of in the middle of West Yorkshire

Very picturesque but no matter what time of year, you WILL need decent waterproofs.

Donegal Craft Village on the southern outskirts of Donegal town is worth a visit, especially if you like silver jewellery with an Atlantic Irish theme.

not much in the way of supermarkets in /near Donegal town if you need a bulk amount of food and/or beer, but there’s a big Asda across the border in Enniskillen

What Jamie said. There are no nerves in the eyeball itself so touching the eye doesn’t hurt. Any itching or scratching you may feel will be your eyelids.

As a former landlord i’d Do the barest minimum beyond legal requirements in an unfurnished property.

You sort the basic fabric, smoke & CO alarms, gas safety certificates, the kitchen & cooker.  Let the tenants sort out white goods, furniture, tv etc. The more money they ‘need’ to put in, the less likely they are to trash the place.

    ABSOF***NGLUTELY NO DOGS. NO SMOKING.

dishwasher a bonus. Cable/satellite tv connection, broadband essential for high end / “professional” tenants

    Very nice Harry :-)

i’m making Slow progress on a Tamiya 1:24 LaFerrari, mostly due to being in Aylesbury during the week. The carbon fibre look aftermarket decals are a pig but they really do add to the look, well worth taking time over

Design, project management, procurement, account management and loads more I can turn my hand to. I like being involved in everything to do with a project just not one area where I easily get bored

sounds like a Project Manager type role to me

Vancouver eh, that’s a long flight from UK, I did it last June from Manchester, 9 hours. Sure you don’t want to do Dublin & back before then?

btw Vancouver Island is lovely if that’s where you’re headed

Socks halfway up your legs regardless of the shoes accompanying them always remind me of middle aged Americans on holiday. Socks reaching your knees should only be worn if you’re kicking a ball around

Adam & The Ants, Kings Of The Wild Frontier. Quality

oh yeah, Madonna’s Ray Of Light. Friend of mine allegedly (not his allegation, he tries to keep quiet about it) played guitar on that album, although I didn’t know it at the time

    Ah the weather.

Sis lives in Calgary, has a holiday home on Vancouver Island. Apart from the west coast, which is pretty much temperate rainforest until you hit the mountains – imagine west coast of Ireland – Canada has four seasons. Winter. Still Winter. Summer. And Nearly Winter.

I’ve visited three times, mountain scenery is awesome, Vancouver Island is so laid back it has its own time zone, Island Time, and Toronto is surprisingly hot in summer. Kind of like the USA but without the guns, mostly

Had a curry with John Peel. Well, not actually “with” him but he was at the next table. The Manzil, Bradford, 1982ish

Had an Italian with Ed Balls MP (as was at the time).  Well, not actually “with” – you get the picture…

had a chat with Jon Pertwee at a Honda show at Donington Park… well actually my stepdad did, but I was at the next table…

I’ve had two job interviews in the last month. Both times I wore suit & tie – always do.

I was the only person in the room, on both occasions, wearing a tie. Clearly the local dress code didn’t normally extend to ties

Didn’t make any difference, both interviews led to job offers.

I managed to get out of Baildon all week.

Granted i’m not at the top of the village but Baildon Road, Station Road, Roundwood Road all passable.

i did say higher areas get it bad

I live in the north-west of West Yorkshire. High ground such as around Odsal, Shelf, Queensbury always gets it bad but down in the Aire & Wharfe valleys it’s not too bad, and yesterday had even started thawing.

i’m in Harrogate right now and all main roads, most minor roads are passable.
