    one mentioned ABBA though?!

oh god, shoot me now. why don't they just piss off and dissapear into the ether of shite that they came from.

    sickeningly shit.

AND YET… flipping tv bangs on and on about them with their abba tributes etc etc etc… AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH

hear hear. hated them then, still hate them now. and as for that 'film' based on the musical based on their work – what a crock of sh&te. Absolutely the worst filme ever in the history of celluloid. At least Plan 9 From Outer Space had a plot

oh, and any 'tribute' band. clearly shit cos otherwise they'd be able to make their own music.

yeah, covers are easier to learn than your own material, but a lot less rewarding, especially when people actually like your own material. but if you don't have a recognised 'writer' in the band you're buggered

eeee back in't'day we didn't have internerd forums

but the advice would still be "she's ex for a reason". Don't go there. I nearly did once, and I still wonder what might have happened.

But shortly afterwards I met the woman who is now my wife :-)
That was 20 years ago and probably wouldn't have happened if I had gone back with the ex

Was supposed to be going to the in-laws but I took one look out of our front room window this morning and decided not to risk it:

will go tomorrow instead, supposed to be sunny

my sis lives in Peace River, Alberta, and likes to do a bit of walking.
I got an email from her last week saying it "wasn't so nice for walking" at -22C in the daytime.

And the other day (or was it night), -46C at Edmonton airport – second coldest place on earth.

my mum went to visit for Christmas a few years back, minus 20something most of the daytimes. One day they were stood in the supermarket car park loading up the car: "isn't it warm today?" says mum. it was -7C

My last day today for the best part of 2 weeks. If I start anything new now, I'll forget it before I come back on 4th january.

What to do for the next 5 hours? I'm a software developer* btw

    * used to be known as 'computer programmer' but that's not hip & trendy

Feb 97 (I think) I got caught in a snowfall in Bradford. It took 9 hours to go from Shipley to Laisterdyke. About 4 miles.

And the last time it snowed in Cambridge I just managed to get off the M11 but it still took from 4pm to 11.30pm to get to Huntingdon. After that it was all clear & I was home for about 2.30am. Not bad considering I left Halstead at 3pm. That journey normally takes 4 hours

Heinlein for me; never really likes Asimov that much.

Plus (a bit more on the fantasy side) Stephen Donaldson – Thomas Covenant Chronicles, and (I think) Julian May – the Torc thingy series

depends what kind of 40 miles it is, as said above. My commute is 24-26 miles depending on the route I take, and can take from 50 minutes (when the schools are off) to double that or more if traffic goes against me. Which being as part of it is on the M62, it usually does :-(

My journey consists of travelling from the north side of Bradford to between Barnsley & Wakefield. The motorway section typically takes no more than 25 minutes, but getting across Bradford and/or Leeds to the motorway is another issue entirely.

Before this job my commutes took me into Hillsborough (sod of a drive down the A61 from M1 J36); across the Pennines into Rossendale (42 miles, nice drive, only Keighley & Colne between me & work), and before that, down the M1 to Rotherham. Before Rotherham I was local to work. I've been doing this since 1997 & you get used to it

I've got a 57 plate sportwagon in 150hp diesel form. I haven't had it long enough to talk about reliability yet, but I like it.

Being an estate I don't thrash it, but here's what I do know: sluggish up to about 1500rpm then it goes like stink; turning circle not much better than my old Alfa 156; boot bigger than BMW 3 series Touring but legroom in the back a little bit worse. Average 38mpg, same as the BMW got over 5 years (old model) but I do a fair portion of my journey through Leeds/Bradford centres; I'm sure it'll easily do 40+ on extra urban run. Heated seats very welcome at the moment too ;-)

    Hope this helps

Hobgoblin is nice but very dark – but not as dark as the black wych, which is a stout. I think they also do a cider (green wych), Circlemaster (as mentioned), and I think Goliath is one of theirs in a larger bottle, although I could be wrong about that one.

as a gift for someone else, when you're not sure how capable they are, I think I'd go for a co-axial / contra-rotating heli – easier to get started.

if buying for yourself and already used to a co-ax, I'd definitely get something collective pitch.

I've just looked at the Honey Bee CP3 and the only thing I'd be wary of is the tail rotor having its own separate motor.
My Twister v2 has the same and while it has yet to cause me any problems, if (when) you get a boom strike you will have to cut the wires to the tail motor, then resolder them when you've replaced the boom…

as an alternative, how about this one: http://www.modelshopleeds.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=39_43&products_id=2234&osCsid=6dcb2342c933f2adb973fb8e7a20f884 if you can get it in stock.Ready to Fly, collective pitch, belt drive tail rotor. It's from J Perkins and speaking from experience their spares backup is excellent.

Heliguy also do the Esky Belt CP, which is good for the price at £145 – a little over budget perhaps, but there are quite a few flyers at our club with the old model Belt CP who swear by it

    chicken jalfrezi from Jani's, Baildon

supermarkets round here stock the Mumtaz range, which are genuine Bradford curries, (and naans, and samosas, etc), except they're from the supermarket; ALL supermarket own curries are like mildly spiced stews compared. My favourite is the Chicken Karahi.

Mumtaz has a restaurant near Bradford Uni, and recently went into the packaged food business. Liz the German ate there recently. Funnily enough, while I lived round the corner from them back in the late 80s, I never once went to Mumtaz.

I've recently bought an '07 9-3 wagon. I really like it. it's not as fancy or as quick as the 320d Touring it replaced, but at least I can get my drum kit inside it. With room for passengers

and it has heated leather seats, mmm toasty warm in weather like this ;-)

Not really. I built a twin electric 54in Britten-Norman Islander from a plan about 5 years ago but it has still to make its maiden.

I also bought an ic trainer s/h about a year ago and same applies.

If it's for a pressie i'd get the Eflite Blade CX3 and let the recipient deal with upgrades etc

If they get the bug then they can spend their own money on a collective pitch single rotor job
