I also wonder if indicating on roundabouts for example would be better if shifting from first to second wasn't an issue.

    how is it an issue?

If you're queuing to get on the roundabout – the only reason you'd actually be in first – you have plenty of time to put the indicator on before you need tp put it in second; unless your exit is immediately after you've joined, you're already in second (or third if it's a big motorway roundabout) by the time you need to change your signal

    Beckenbauer was right

There are too many foreigners in the Prem to let any decent English players through. So we get the same old faces every tournament – not because they're the best English players there are, but simply because they're the only English players in the top 5 teams in the Prem. Look at them. I bet there's not one of them plays for a team outside the top 5

[edit] the goalkeepers – two of the three anyway – were involved in relegation scraps all season and the third was on loan. What does that say?

    Even if we get thru

    ever the optimist, eh?

If you can't score goals, you're not going to get far in a knockout competition. OK it's still a "league" format but…

    Slovenia Played 2 won 1 drawn 1 points 4
    England Played 2 drawn 2 points 2
    USA Played 2 drawn 2 points 2
    Algeria Played 2 drawn 1 lost 1 points 1

I can't see England scoring against Slovenia, so at best that's a draw. Only needs USA v Algeria NOT to be a draw & England are out. Even if it is a draw, USA would have SCORED more than England

That has to be the worst England performance I remember seeing in a World Cup finals – although the game against Cameroon in Italia 90 comes close, at least England found the back of the net in that one

perhaps Rooney should ask himself exactly why England were booed by their own fans.

which 3? there are quite a few songs up there

unless you're very happy with the rough mixes as they are, I wouldn't post them up, rather wait a few more days until you're satisfied with the final mastered mixes. You are getting them mastered, aren't you?

Roses is nice too, almost in France. Certainly as likely to hear French spoken around the town as Spanish or, more likely, Catalan

next door is Empuriabrava, which appears to be a load of micro-marinas for big yachts, and bugger all else, although there is a very old (Roman?) fort on the outskirts

Figueras is inland a way, has a Salvador Dali museum if you're into modern art.

We stayed in Santa Pau, near Olot, quite a lot further inland, for 2 weeks in 2001. Sat on the beach in Roses when the World Trade Centre was hit. Not pleasant.
Santa Pau is in La Garrotxa national park, lots of extinct volcanoes & plenty of good walking – probably good MTBing too. Pretty little medieval fortified village but not worth a visit UNLESS your passing through on the way to Banyoles from Olot, or back

I would've thought you could record from a V+ or Sky+ box. Just use a suitable cable to connect one to t'other, press record on one box and play on the other. It would have to be done in real time though, not like copying computer files from one drive to another

if I was buying a new DVD recorder I'd make sure it was 5.1 surround sound capable and possibly even blu-ray but i'd need to wait for the prices to come down on those

UK: deer, fox, red kites (lots near Harewood breeding program)

Anywhere else: raccoons in Stanley Park, Vancouver; elk in Canmore, just walking through town; eagles in the sky near Kamloops. No bears or moose though

Chameleons are an influence, along with Joy Division, The Jam, NMA, Killing Joke, The Sound… and some blues stuff

BTW "Blutac" from these here parts is lead guitar – hi Dave 🙂

BTW2 – Raw Talent is available on iPlayer from 1 day after live broadcast so even if you're not in the Leeds catchment area, you can still hear us.

It's going to be fully acoustic, 3 or 4 songs, all completely different versions of the songs you can hear now on the reverbnation page, which might make for a totally different take on what you hear now. We're really looking forward to it

Waddington didn't impress me last year.

Spent several hours in a queue south of the airfield – great watching the Red Arrows from 3 miles away. When we finally got parked, we must have been almost a mile from the flightline.

Food – one lot of "chips with everything" and a 2 hour queue to get served

Southport in September is a good one if the weather's good, but can be as awful as the weather…
Elvington (York) – last one about 3 years ago – when it's on, is a good size, but yet not so big that you end up in a Waddington style queue for most of it

The Windermere one's supposed to be quite good, as is Sunderland

Lineker was a great poacher (hell, you have to be to score that many for your country) but how many of his England goals came from outside the box? And how many were solo efforts?

Beckham has to be the best dead ball expert in my lifetime, and his passing ability…
ok he can't head, can't tackle, can't dribble and is not very fast, as no7s go, but when you can do what he can, who cares? Seems like a nice guy too, mostly

Also Owen Hargeaves isnt exactly English.

Mr Capello seems to agree with you 😉

England's greatest player? I could think of a few that have played in my lifetime – Kevin Keegan for one. OK he was a naive manager but a pretty good player;Bobby Charlton could score a mean goal from midfield, and as strikers go Shearer & Sheringham made a good partnership – remember the 4-1 demolition of Holland at Euro 96?

And Gazza's goal against Scotland? who (south of Hadrian's Wall) could ever forget that one?
Stuart Pearce could play through a broken leg, and could even score penalties after a bit of practice.

No, I reckon the Italia 90 squad (which lasted a few years after that, despite the Turnip) was pretty good – and their progress to the semi-finals (despite a few hiccups in the group phase) in Italy would tend to back me up
