    a) lazy, b) lack of mojo and c) busy doing band stuff. #

I last rode my bike only yesterday, but it was only 2 miles to pick up my car from its annual service.

Last proper ride was about 3-4 weeks ago, and before that must have been last November

try going to Ford or Vauxhall's website & using their car configurator or whatever they call it. Very easy to get a Mondeo (for example) into the mid £k20s, but you try find an equivalent spec car on any Ford dealership with delivery miles or less and I doubt you'd pay much more than £18k.

I'm sure the Giulietta will be not dissimilar. I've had 2 Alfas (146 & 156) before now & they're lovely cars, reliable enough if you keep them properly serviced.

My 146 got to over 130k miles before I traded it in, probably would have gone on a lot longer if I hadn't taken it to a cheap fast fit place for a new clutch… you know what they say, pay peanuts, expect monkeys

You can't card something you didn't see.

the ref who sent Kaka off in the group phase might disagree with that one 😉

but yeah, Webb did as good a job as he could with the tools* available to him

    *mostly wearing orange or blue

there have been a few instances of players getting a ban retrospectively from TV evidence of something the ref missed, BTW, so it's not like it's unprecedented

might be cheaper to buy a minibus & take out the seats you don't need – at least any seatbelts that are fitted will meet the relevant standards.

Either way the insurance will probably be affected as the vehicle will be "modified"

ok that explains why the OP is seeing adverts for towel rails & designer radiators. Why the heck am I seeing them too?

Frejus & area is nice. Went in 2007, stayed in St Raphael for a week & St Aygulf for a week.

None of that helps though, sorry

Found it. The buggers have hidden "all sizes" under 'actions'. Good thinking folks, let's move a commonly used option and put it under a new menu without telling anyone

That's what I used to do; I tried it last night and there was no "all sizes" option 🙁

Change for change's sake. Thanks Flickr

Problem is the mileage I'm doing is meaning its value is dropping like a stone

I think the blue oval badge is doing that for you 😉

seriously though, all cars except top end Germans depreciate something rotten at high mileage; I had a BMW 320d Touring and after 100k miles that was only worth £4k when I traded it in (yeah, I know, you get less for a trade in than private sale but I can't be arsed with private sales).

It was dead comfy on my 30 miles each way commute though 😉

I see that ad too and frankly it is a waste of space.
I say get some proper ads instead; you know, like the ones you see in the currant bun 😉

Or even the 'pointless tat' ads like the 'big slipper', 'razor comb' or 'incontinence pants' as described by Billy Connolly

well if you're keeping several copies then I suppose that's good practice 😉

I don't keep anything personal on my work laptop; partly because it's frowned upon, but mostly because I don't want to lose anything in the event of sudden "mend it with a new one" upgrades

I guess it depends how stupid the people in your organisation can be; some companies use the "nobody does anything or else" policy in case there are complete morons that surf the internet for pr0n – and download it – with company property whilst in hotels etc.

BTW I'm a programmer not an enforcer, but I can still remember when I was a sysadmin & had to enforce company policy – in a previous company wot I worked for.

that's lucky, I suppose, for you, but potentially dangerous for your company; more to the point, though, could you live with losing your iTunes library if say you left the company or your work laptop died completely & got replaced – or, say, stolen from the boot of your car. You do keep it in the boot when on the move, don't you?

Personally speaking, I really wouldn't have my iTunes library on something belonging to work simply because the equipment may be taken away from me at any point either as an upgrade, or as I left the business, or even a disciplinary procedure.

Putting my IT Police hat on, if it's a work laptop, are they work files in your iTunes library?
Or do you have specific permission to store non-work data on your work computer?

Seeing NMA later in the summer too as I have never seen them before and Green & Grey is one of my favourite songs.

    welcome to "the family"; enjoy

A typical set is about 70 minutes plus another 25-30 minutes of encores.
Setlist from Holmfirth the other week was this:

    Green + Grey
    Wired
    White Light
    Wonderful Way To Go
    Today Is A Good Day
    Mambo Queen
    No Mirror No Shadow
    Here Comes The War
    High
    Ocean Rising
    States Radio
    Autumn
    Vagabonds
    No Rest
    Poison Street
    Whirlwind
    ————-
    White Coats
    Purity
    Get Me Out

but the noise of 50 or so cattle is pretty much likely what you'll hear at 4 o'clock in the morning in the country.

be grateful it wasn't a Greek island, where 50 odd goats about to be milked can make a pretty unnerving sound!

there's nowt to see up here. except cows & low-flying fighter jets.

perhaps we should post a sign on the M1 somewhere around Nottingham:
"The North. Nowt here but cows & jet fighters"

then the southerners could then make their own well-advised decisions as to whether to go any further…

    where was this hotel?

we stayed in one in Scarborough not very long ago; my sister was booked into one room directly above the kitchen, she said "move us" and got moved; she warned me about it and I ended up in the room directly above reception – not much better… didn't stay for breakfast

not with penalties like that. have they had coaching from messrs Waddle, Batty & Southgate?

I was going to include Pearce but he made up for it against Spain in Euro '96

but surely driving it into the ground will leave you out of pocket soon enough, having to mend it with a new(er) one

    I had an '89 5TR. I called mine "lemon".

The one before it, a mark 1 R5 on an 82 Y plate was a cracking little car, while it lasted. Some daft twonk in a Luton van decided he could turn left from the right hand lane of three, with me in his way

you don't have to buy new you know; get a one year old job, the worst of the depreciation is already done and you still get 2 years warranty for a whole lot less wonga

I have a Saab 9-3 1.9TiD estate in Vector Sport anniversary trim. I bought it at 2 years old with 30k on the clock for £13k. I costed an equivalent brand new one up the other day, £27k. So I've saved over half the new vehicle price by not buying new.

The mileage I do makes petrol a non-starter, as I can get well over 500 miles to a tankful, more on a big extended motorway cruise. It takes bikes without too much trouble, and my drums fit in nicely too, with room for a couple of passengers as well.

OK it's a Vectra in slightly nicer bodywork but so what?
