Yea the narrow wide chainrings are great I took my stinger off & I haven’t dropped the chain since doing so I would recommend the bash guard as the chainrings are made out of aluminium so easy to wreck if you hit them
I reckon you won’t have any probs, just bolt on a narrow wide chainring maybe a bash guard a 40t sprocket at the back a few extra chain links & you’ve practically got a 1 x 11 set up for a tenth of the price
The long cage mech won’t cause you any problems & if you go for the 40t sprocket on the rear it is really the ideal one to use, I found chain line wasn’t a problem as you aren’t really altering anything, what bike are you riding mate & what cranks
Yea oneup designed the 40t for the zee mech so you swap out the 15 & 17 sprockets & put a 16 in & the 40 behind the 36 on your cassette I’ve run mine for a few months now with out any bother
2 weeks worth of riding even some downhill tracks at wharncliffe, I can honestly say no probs at all. So santa cruz heckler with zee drive train & oneup 40t expander sprocket is a definite winner
Some valid points but I’m not sure how often if ever you would go through all your travel in the 40t sprocket surely it’s just a bail out gear for steep climbs?
i used two on my five & fitted a 200mm x 57mm shock no clearence issues & gave me 160mm travel i made them myself, i work for a precision engineering company i offsett them by 2.1mm which is maximum you can go & as i said no probs
Thanks for the replies I will give you a shout in the new year loco my 2011 van rc has a ti spring I think it could benefit from a custom tune I will be running it on my five
My lab comes out to the peak for all day rides & absolutely loves it also myself & the wife work all day so it always needs a walk in the evening rain or shine
