We’re getting married next year, it’s going to be a big wedding (200ish guests) but very DIY so hopefully won’t cost too much.
Our plan is to hire a village hall (found one near the sea) with outdoor space, and put up marquees – got a 12m by 6m for £150 off ebay. Village Halls tend to have large kitchens/men’s & women’s toilets/tables/chairs etc so have the basics you need, and cost about £80 a day!
Buy any equipment you need second hand off ebay/FB/car boots etc – fridges/freezers/marquees/food warmers/led lights etc – you can then get your money back afterwards.
France / supermarket offers for the booze. Keep it cool in containers full of icy water. Food can be made in bulk in advance, and frozen, then defrosted the day before and either warmed up or cooked fresh on the day. We’re hiring a few people to work a few hours on a BBQ and in the kitchen for us (we’re not doing a sit down meal, it’s a casual food & drink all day type affair) as well as restocking buffet/drinks etc.
Silent disco is cheap for entertainment (cheaper than a DJ/band etc) and won’t upset any neighbours. I’m making the main bar and any decorations from wood got for free from a local skip hire place.
Friends are kindly doing our photography for us.
Basically, think of what you want from the day, then work out if there’s a way you can do it yourself cheaper (in advance, so you’re not stressing on the day) – Cooking/preparing the food yourself in advance and freezing it is way cheaper than caterers, plus you can have a lot more variety.
joeydeaconFree MemberJust playing devils advocate for a minute (I’m not suggesting Musk is correct in his accusations)
But they do seem like some fairly specific allegations (which could easily be proven either way with the 12 year old bride allegation) – hopefully the truth will out (ideally with Unsworth being innocent / no kids hurt) either way..
joeydeaconFree MemberIgnore it – I’ve had this years ago with Corbis and Getty Images (naive 15 year old web designer used some images believing they were free to use) – they’ll try and intimidate you, but you’re just a name on a long list to them, and they’ll give up and pursue the next guy. Last time I checked, they’d never sued anyone for the amounts they’d quoted in this country – it’s all b*llshit to make the 1 in 10 people who fall for it pay up.
joeydeaconFree MemberI’d narrow it down by the basics (like you already are with disc tabs, tyre clearance) with rack/mudguard mounts, frame material etc, weight/strength etc then just spec it with the stuff that most suits you (saddle, bar width, stem length, pedals type, tyre width/type etc) and you should end up with something you love.
joeydeaconFree Member15″ Carbon Frame / Rebas for £895? https://www.merlincycles.com/diamondback-lumis-30-mountain-bike-2017-105254.html
joeydeaconFree MemberBy the way, there’s a good (but lengthy) piece on Younique here
joeydeaconFree Memberand having watched that Isogenix video above, I have no idea what they’re actually selling!
Diet Supplements I think, shakes etc
Another mate looked at the supplements side of things – with a detailed read it’s not a bad model if you remove your ethical standpoint and flog anything. these companies want the selling to be done but not paid for full time, commission based, so if it’s passive income then it’s great – if your investing and it’s your main income less good.
I think the issue (other than the moral side of things of recruiting people) is the fact that in order to earn a decent commission from your downline, you have to buy X amount of products yourself every month.. as the market gets saturated, it’s harder to sell and recruit, and you end up with a garage full of products.
joeydeaconFree MemberGlad it’s not just me! At their worst, they’re dangerous and predatory..
It’s just really bizarre.. admittedly there will be a few at the top of the pyramid who do make money (at the expense all of those beneath them) but their cult like events remind me of Scientology conventions..
joeydeaconFree MemberGot the M2s on 4 of my bikes, 160mm on a road type bike, 180mms on the rest.. I’d spend the extra (£2!) for the 180mms for MTB usage, and like everyone else said here, for the money they’re unbeatable.. £42 delivered from ebay for a full set F&R inc 180mm rotors and mounts..
joeydeaconFree MemberIf anyone wants some actual “budget” disc brakes, I’m now running the Clarks M2 on 4 of my bikes.. very good performance (180mm).. no issues whatsoever, plenty of power..
The cost? £42 for a complete brand new set front and rear, including 2 rotors! Check eBay..
A review can be found here (this is of the 160mm, the 180s have a fair bit more power)
joeydeaconFree Member1. Buy new skinwall tyres
2. Draw tattoos and a nipple on the skinwall. Stick on a few hairs.
3. Add a sign saying Thieves will be skinned alive.
4. No more theft.
joeydeaconFree MemberAvoid – I think you mean nurserycrime.co.uk – had a quick glance – it appears it was once a valid website/business that went bust/ceased trading etc, let the domain name expire, someone else registered it in March and put up that website (which might in theory still rank for long tail keywords as it still has links pointing towards it like http://www.jasperfforde.com/nurserycrime/special/js2.html (Edit: actually the link doesn’t point towards it, it’s just a reference to the old website)
Essentially it’s a new (probably scam website) using a once valid (if unrelated) domain name to get traffic and makes sales (and possibly rip people off)
joeydeaconFree MemberI like them.. gives you a chance to be creative/show your sense of humour.. previous attempts include 2 Girls 1 Cup, Lieutenant Dan (with 2 stumps, yep I’m going to hell..), Freaky man baby with a babies body and my head, a Sex Robot.. I always find there’s a couple of guys there who start the night sneering at you along the lines of “You all look like a bunch of tw*ts” but a few drinks later get sh*tty with you because you won’t lend them your hat/wig/whatever cos they feel out of place..
joeydeaconFree MemberPosted 6 years agojoeydeaconFree Membera relatively obscure brand, but I quite like Eff9tyWon series by CahseeÖ
joeydeaconFree MemberMichael Matthews will come good today, mark my words.. won a stage in 2016 & 17, will follow suit in today’s stage
joeydeaconFree MemberMy money’s on Nibali or Porte. Think it’ll be tough on Cav/Renshaw etc today..
joeydeaconFree MemberNot exactly Pop Music but this one’s about oral sex..
Also I think B’Witched had a few vaguely inappropriate lyrics in C’est la Vie
I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.. Let the fun begin.. I’ll huff I’ll puff and blow you away
joeydeaconFree MemberThanks guys, much appreciated! Will have a look through these options 🙂
joeydeaconFree MemberVedran Corluka is starting for Croatia….. He left my mighty Spurs half a dozen years ago because he was sooo slow (even if he did read the game well and was comfortable on the ball)
Yeah, he was good for us defensively, but like you said he’s probably the slowest player I’ve ever seen.. pace will destroy him..
joeydeaconFree MemberHoping for another game like this.. Kane causing Lovren so many problems, he got subbed after 31 mins..
Gotta find a way to stop that Croatian midfield though..
joeydeaconFree MemberWhilst we’ll be disappointed if we lost in the semis (or final), the team has achieved far more than we expected, and overall the tournament has been a success. Granted we’ve played and beaten a lot of so called “smaller” sides, but a surprising amount of the bigger teams haven’t managed to do that. Germany, Spain, Argentina etc couldn’t even do that.
Judging by our youth teams recent success, we’re going to be even better in 4 / 8 years time:
2017 European Under-17 Championship – Runners up
2017 European Under-19 Championship – Champions
2017 European Under-21 Championship – Semis
2017 Toulon Tournament – Champions
2017 Under-20 World Cup – Champions
2017 Under-17 World Cup – ChampionsAnything in the next 2 games is a bonus.
(but yeah, it’s coming home!)
joeydeaconFree MemberShort version as think I posted it here before.. got drunk at a mate’s leaving do with one of his girlfriend’s friends..
A few hours of drinking later it emerged she was a lady who “performed on webcam”.. I then realised I’d previously seen her a few times (whilst failing to watch another girl I knew from way back, who worked on the same website)
She thought it was funny and wrote about me on her blog.
(We didn’t hook up, both in relationships)
joeydeaconFree MemberAll last night taught us is that A) we didn’t really want to win and B) Belgium have more depth to their squad than us.
Think the group stage was a success overall – our first 11 is well rested, our path to the semi final is as easy as it can be at this stage (yes I know we can easily lose to Colombia, but playing two of the so called “lesser” teams is better than one easier and then a much harder tie.)
To those who didn’t like the changes/performance/result – The bottom line is we’re in a far better position today because of it.
France, Argentina, Uruguay, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico & Belgium will be knocking each other out so only one remains.
Spain & Croatia will do the same.
I’d equate this to Leicester’s title win – we have a pretty good starting 11 who are quite hard to beat, and look a threat from set pieces. The more talented opposition aren’t playing at their capabilities, and if we keep grinding out results you never know.
joeydeaconFree MemberHow did I guess who the OP was before opening the thread?
By looking at the “author” column on the forum overview page?!
joeydeaconFree MemberTBF it’s pretty difficult to find an upbeat Frabbit track, they’re mainly about heartbreak/depression/suicide etc.. Swim is one of the happier ones musically at least.. the one I was referring to is called Floating in the Forth..
joeydeaconFree MemberCheck Amazon for the reviews to narrow down the choice (more comprehensive customer reviews than eBay), then search Youtube for the sample footage – often there will be side by side comparison footage with Gopros.. although obviously ignore the official manufacturer’s video, look for real life footage.. probably also worth ignoring any models that are more than a couple of years old..
joeydeaconFree MemberIf you add any onion, apple, fruit, veg etc to the recipe then I’d cook them separately first to get the water out.. makes the flavour more concentrated too..
joeydeaconFree MemberHis choices would be irrelevant.. he’d eat his way through the front one and blow the rear end clean off within half an hour..
joeydeaconFree MemberI don’t think Richard actually got the chance to say anything, he just had a front row seat to the Brian Blessed show!
joeydeaconFree MemberThanks so much for this Amaan, I appreciate the detailed response.. I’ll have a think before getting back to them, maybe getting another quote might be a good idea.. Thanks again, I appreciate it 🙂
joeydeaconFree MemberIt loses pressure increasingly frequently, and apparently the reason why it hasn’t been heating water effectively recently is as something is broken, and so every time it goes to heat the water, it’s also trying to heat the radiators at the same time. I then got the above sent through as faults with the boiler – it may well be that all of this needs doing (I wouldn’t have a clue), I just wondered if this was an excessive quote for this work?
joeydeaconFree MemberFrom the perspective of the flat owner / trades person: How easy would it have been to track you down to ask for permission? Is it a case of no-one’s visited the property for 20 years, it’s still in your parents name / old address (who may have moved / changed number / unfortunately passed on etc)
Or did they have your details and just not bother?
joeydeaconFree MemberAh.. ok I kinda assumed it would use the one in the sub folder, but didn’t know if it was like CSS where if you don’t specify a style for a certain element then it will use the one specified for the parent – so (prob wrongly) assumed anything not specified in the sub folder .htaccess might be taken from the one in the parent folder?
joeydeaconFree MemberThink it should all work fine, assuming you’re using different databases for each installation – the only thing that may cause issues (other than the broken links) is if there is a .htaccess file in the root directory that interferes with the WordPress .htaccess files in the sub folders?
Also grab something like https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/velvet-blues-update-urls/ as a temporary measure and you should be able to update all the broken links with one setting – you may have to do the same for images/downloads etc too.
