    We bought one of these
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0077CCXYU/ – they weigh a ton, but are amazing given the price. It’s pretty firm, appreciate not everyone likes that though. You won’t sink into it though.

Thanks Joe – yeah I’ve seen those before but they never seem to be in stock anywhere?

I’ve used an A2Z one on another frame – once it’s fitted it’s fine, but there’s a lot of fiddling to get it straight, and it had to be removed to fix punctures.

Kinda related, but thought this was a good (if scary) documentary on the future of work:

Seems not many jobs are safe!

Either Amazon Prime (if you can wait – there are one or two on there still – try kids section rather than medical?) or if you know anyone with young children, chances are they may have a spare thermometer they can leave on your doorstep?

Well he’s stated the username is xxxxxxxxx, which is XXX times 3, so it’s clearly a £200 adult toy.

I don’t believe she has any sort of mental health problem. I think it is/was her way of earning a living. She does it to earn money from controversy. Simple. No different to Alex Jones in the US. He doesn’t actually believe Sandy Hook was faked. He just says it to earn money from media. The more extreme they get, the more extreme they need to be to keep the viewing numbers and advertising income.

^This. Not justifying anything she’s ever done, written or said, but I’ve always considered her as a fading reality TV star who realised that the only way to stay in the limelight, prolong her “career” and maximise earnings was to be the human equivalent of the Daily Mail. And it’s kinda worked (legal battle with Jack Monroe aside) – I doubt many other ex-Apprentice contestants have as high a profile as her / earnings potential.

“This is the new clean era”

No it’s not, they’re* just using different doping techniques and are still ahead of the testers.

Until climb times drastically reduce, and consistently unbelievable performances stop, then I don’t think a clean rider of this era (no matter the “smoke screen” increases in technology/training) would be within touching distance of an EPO time in the 90s. Judge the riders on their climb times/performances, not on their PR department’s excuses/spin.

*The bulk of the riders winning the major races.

Might not be related in the slightest, but (assuming you’ve got loft access) our place benefited massively from fitting a drymaster – my parents have used them in 2 other houses too to permanently cure massive damp problems.

    Edit: should be Drimaster

I’m not the most politically aware, but used to think Johnson was a scruffy harmless cycling buffoon, stumbling his way through politics, a breath of fresh air who whilst you wouldn’t necessarily agree with his opinions, was at least prepared to take a kicking on HIGNFY.

Over the last few years it’s become apparent that it’s all a calculated act, an opportunist prepared destroy anything in order to further his own career.

Might not be relevant, but I’d go second hand personally.. 26″ frames/bikes go for nothing

Hmm According to their website the earth is covered in 57 trillion 3m x 3m squares yet uses a word database of 25000 words. How does that compute?

May have misunderstood the question, but 25000^3 equals 390625000000000000 unique word combinations

what about this lady also amanda coker

From what I remember she chose a very flat, very sheltered 10 mile loop and rode round it repeatedly for a year or so.. so although it was outdoors, it was as close to velodrome conditions.. smart riding, but possibly not in the spirit of previous record holders.

The bit I don’t understand: can someone explain to me how Storey got the initial sponsorship money to pay Haus the first installment (must be a few million?) or the money to make a supposedly credible 30m offer for Force India – based upon the fact he seems to have no money? Was he bullsh*tting investors, or trying to scam F1 teams? Or both?

According to the Beeb “Nairo Quintana set a new record for quickest climb of the Gailbier. It took him 22 minutes, 28 seconds. That’s a minute quicker than Andy Schleck in 2011.”

Was it really windy today, or is this a bit worrying given cycling’s history? Beating a record by 5% is a fair amount (assuming Schleck had the record, it’s a bit ambiguous)?

Amazing stage either way, le Tour has been interesting without the Sky train of recent years..

Should add 15″ and 17″ currently back in stock til tomorrow apparently

    15″ is RCZDAD
    17″ is RCZDDA

now 149 euros but still pretty cheap

Edit: seems the codes no longer work, so possibly ignore this!

Nah sorry, the 20″ was never on sale at €130, just the other sizes for a couple of hours..

Would Helicopter tape be tough enough? As I guess it’s not like cable rub – the steel pedal / carbon sole would (I presume) have a fair amount of my weight on it?

11.. the original answer is 23 I think, and twenty three has 11 letters. This is assuming that you ask the question twice, which is a bit of a stretch. You can then answer the question again which would be 6, and then 3, and then 5 and then 4.. so 4 would be the final answer if you took that approach.

Get a copy of the video and keep chasing the police to investigate/prosecute, and if it’s going nowhere, I’d be tempted to go to the local press about the lack of action. Force them to act.

Depends on your riding – if you use your big ring a lot then you’re not going to be able to reach the same speeds on flat smooth trails, road bits etc, which personally would frustrate me. Other issue is the cost – 9 speed bits can be picked up dirt cheap in sales etc. If you stay in middle most of the time, and have the cash to spare (and no other upgrades on the bike would improve the performance more – new forks/wheels/tyres etc) then go for it.

I remember a Twitter thread along the lines of what would you do if the opposite sex didn’t exist/weren’t around for a set time period.. The men’s answers were the predictable p0rn, m*sturbate, drink etc.. a huge proportion of the women answered along the lines of “Go for a late night run”.. something which most guys probably take for granted..

do these lower leg compression tights work or do anything?

They kinda work for me – they don’t totally eliminate the problem, but they lessen it which enables me to do a lot more running before the pain kicks in. I also use Hoka shoes which take the edge off the impact.. can get them for £50 if you wait for a sale.. Basically strapping up my lower legs and cushioning shoes help compensate for my poor technique and weak body..

What everyone else said: Older decent bikes are awesome – they’re not worth much but cost nothing to fix, and are still as great to ride as they were at the time, plus you’re not as bothered about superficial damage. I’ve seen older £4k bikes in good nick go for £200 on eBay.. if I was looking for a bike I’d definitely go that way..

I think we’d be far more forgiving of him if he hadn’t been such a dick, with the way he actively attacked and bullied people.

This. The doping alone is forgivable, his actions against Bassons, Andreu(s), Lemond etc etc was unforgivable.

Didn’t he get a bit Project Yewtree, or am I misremembering?

No, because paedophiles are a “pet hate” of his.

Personally my pet hate is people not using headphones on public transport, but I guess we all have those tiny irrational annoyances that grate us so badly.

Sissoko did really well i thought…

He’s arguably been our player of the season – gone from being a joke/scapegoat to one of the best CMs in the prem this year.

But they’re never going to be as they’re not 1st choice… But, they’re a reasonable alternative and that’s the best you can expect of course… but Spurs ‘backup’ left me thinking “maybe you should have spent some more on players”

But if you took Mane, Salah, Shaqiri and Origi out of the situation, then Liverpool’s bench wouldn’t be left with too many quality options. This is what happened to Spurs by losing Kane, Son, Lamela and then Janssen being illegible (think this is due to the rule of Dier and Davies not being counted as homegrown). Leaves us with Llorente, Alli, Eriksen and Lucas Moura playing. Liverpool would only be left with something like Firmino, Sturridge, Lallana, Oxlade playing and not much left on the bench?

To be fair we were also missing our first choice centre mids, Winks & Sissoko (at the start), as well as another attacking threat in Lamela.. leaving Eriksen and Alli the only 2 available first choice players in our front 6. A full strength Spurs would have beaten them last night, after Sissoko came on it was an even game (after the schooling in the first 30).

Eriksen has the same vision and ability for passing, is great on deadballs

As a Spurs fan I agree with what you say, apart from the deadballs bit.. he’s been awful at freekicks etc for a few years now.. amazing with a moving ball, rubbish when he’s got a bit of time to think about it.

Pogba being in the Team of the Year is a joke. Penalties aside his stats aren’t great. Probably biased, but I’d have the dramatically improved Sissoko, as well as several other centre mids ahead of him.

Looks good value for money.. although if you had to buy full suspension for £200ish, you can get some amazing deals on old 26″ 2000ish-2013ish models on ebay.. £2-3k bikes in not bad nick going for that just cos they’re a few years old..

Thanks batfink – I’ll have a think about what I will need to do on the day – am happy to put the work in beforehand/afterwards, but will see if there’s a way I can minimise effort on the day.

If you can, get someone else to do the whole thing, if you’re involved in any of the process it will suck up your time and ruin your day. Also, Leffeboy is correct, everyone, especially the kids, will be clamouring for food at the same time.
Good luck and have a wonderful day.

Thanks, will take your advice on board :)

I’d take some of your free bar budget and spend it on getting the food sorted properly. Everyone will want to eat whereas not everyone will appreciate a free bar.

Thanks Jambo, will have a think..

Hey Guys – thanks for this, much appreciated, food for thought and all that!

Can’t dig a pit as we’re renting the venue – however I think we’ve probably ruled charcoal out – too much hassle!

siwhite – we/the wedding are in Cornwall, so might be a bit far – thanks anyway though!

I’m gonna rethink it a little bit – essentially the original plan was food served all day from midday

1/2 bbq stuff (homemade burgers, sausages, steaks, kebabs etc)
1/2 kitchen/oven stuff (Mac n cheese, ribs, pulled pork, cold meats, quiches etc)

Which are all prepared well in advance and cooked/heated/served on the day) plus loads of salads, snacks, dessert stuff etc.

I kinda presumed that as long as we could serve 40ish portions an hour from the BBQ(s) then that would be fine? Or is this overly ambitious? We have 3 large electric food warmers to keep food warm for BBQ and kitchen food.

Edit: We’ve got 4 (paid) staff lined up to help with this at the moment (them cooking/bringing out the food, the rest being self service)

Evening guests arrive at 5pm or 7:30pm, will be around 40ish (waiting on replies, past the deadline though?!)

Found another option: something like this.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/griddle-burner-cast-iron-Tristar-Bq-6395/dp/B003DZ0EZU/ – gas griddle plate.. no idea what to do now?!
