In Rio Ferdinand’s book he makes reference to a current England player who is a known racist.

I remember the 2006 Spurs Chelsea game, Spurs won 2-1 and Terry got sent off. It was a Chelsea corner, Terry said something to Ledley, and suddenly every black Spurs player, King, Chimbonda etc went for him, and had to be restrained by the rest of the Spurs team. Terry got a straight red, didn’t complain at all, just walked off, think it was later described as for unsportsmanlike behaviour – was swept under the carpet.

Incidentally, people who do “funny” edits, presumably these are the same people that once upon a time would borrow dictionaries from libraries and scribble all over them?

No, because that’s vandalism that is irreversible and costs money to repair/replace. If an edit is harmless, and has no malicious intent, then I have no problem with it.

Yep. I’m not sure if Sandro gets songs sung to him about cows, but if he does, then sorry chap!

The weird thing about Wikipedia is that once the mainstream media has fallen for it and reported it as fact, it then becomes a verified fact from Wikipedia’s perspective. Self fulfilling.

Never really got why people get so excited about Aldi sales.. surely their prices are pretty much what Sports Direct stock all year round?

Think you’re all reading a bit too much into this.. last week he was commenting on the Lance / Contador doping situations, and now this. He’s got a book out, and wants publicity – simple as that.

I do like watching him ride for the simple reason that he does try and attack, and he comes across as one of the more articulate members of the peleton in his interviews. Shame he doped though.

Drac “It’s certainly not going to replace Final Cut Pro, but I suppose filmmakers could use an iPad on-set to demo a rough edit.” – like I said – if you want any degree of control over your work, it probably can’t do it. However for simple Windows Movie Maker style vids, using set effects, it’ll prob be fine.

Someone will no doubt correct me, but I doubt they’re that good for creative stuff – whether it be video & audio editing / illustration / animation etc – I’m sure they offer a few basic software packages / apps with set effects, but if you want a degree of control over the output then I imagine they’re pretty rubbish.

That said, I don’t think they’re particularly designed with any of that in mind.

For general surfing the net / e-mails etc I’m sure they’re fine.

It is quite interesting.. the way I see it, all currencies only survive as people have faith in them, so if people did put enough faith in it then it could take off. Not entirely convinced it’ll do to the banking industry what p2p file sharing did to the music industry, but you never know.

I did read an interesting article about a few marketplace websites that were springing up (think you needed TOR to access them) which a journalist successfully used to buy (illegal) drugs using bitcoins from an anonymous dealer. LSD / Coke / Weed / Heroin all for sale.

If it did take off then it would have a major effect on drug trafficking / other illegal activities – no more face to face meets, and payments would be pretty much anonymous.

    How did you pay?

If by Paypal then search on facebook using the same e-mail address and it may bring up his profile. Also search on google for both the e-mail addy and the bit before the @ sign – see if he uses that as a username anywhere. Bear in mind he could be using a hijacked account (unlikely though).

If you find his profile, save a copy of it, and also a copy of his entire friends list, before you contact anyone.

If paying by bank transfer then you can do a check on the sort code to find out roughly where he is.

If by cheque then cancel it.

If the mods are feeling especially kind they could hand over his e-mail address he used here, plus (not sure if they would – bit dubious) his password – chances are he uses the same one elsewhere – you might be able to find out more details about him if you log into his webmail.

The thing I don’t get about marriage is not the idea of commitment etc, but the need to spend 20k on one day.

Loads of people I know spent thousands on their wedding day, and then moan that they can never get on the housing ladder.

If the person that Chrismc1 posted is the same guy then if you search on Facebook using their e-mail address, you’ll find their profile (won’t post it here as this guy might be innocent).

It lists his workplace, as well as his friends / girlfriend.

Make a back up of his profile page, and then start chasing his nearest and dearest for info.. I imagine that’ll get you your forks pretty quickly.

20+ year career. 500 drug controls worldwide, in and out of competition. Never a failed test. I rest my case.

He never actually denies taking drugs, he always just says he’s never failed a test.

But then again neither did David Millar or Marion Jones.

Just be over-the-top polite. When people are trying to start an argument with you, nothing pisses them off more than a polite response.

    “You shouldn’t be riding here”
“It’s lovely to see you. Hope you have a wonderful day.” In a cheery voice. And then ride off. Nine times out of ten you’ll then get abuse shouted at you from a pissed off walker, yet they’ll have nothing to report you for.

Best bet I found (in my limited experience of 1 purchase) is to act like you don’t give a sh*t. Put in a low bid, don’t chase it at all. If they get a higher bid, they’ll come back to you to see if you can beat it.

You chase them = you’re keen = you’ll pay more.

Tell them you’ve seen other places that you are interested in, point out all the bad points about the property, then put in a v low offer. You can always increase it later. If necessary view other properties with the same agent – the agent will prob mention this to the seller, which might make them panic and accept your offer.

I put in a low offer, of 110k on a property listed (cheap in my opinion) at 125k. They declined but dropped 5k off the asking to 120k. I increased my offer to 114k and said final offer, take it or leave it.

Heard nothing for a week, they then contacted me to say 116k. I said no, even though I’d have paid the original asking of 125k.

They then phoned a couple of days later and said they’d accept 114k, but it would be nice if I’d make a gesture of paying 115. I kinda laughed at paying an extra grand for no reason, and said 114, which is what we eventually agreed upon (took 6 months for the deal to go through with chain breaking).

If you act like you don’t care, then they’re more likely to accept a lower offer, than if they cotton onto the fact that you actually love the property.

The estate agent just wants a sale – a few extra grand to them on the sale price is nothing to them in commission – a cheap sale for them is far better than telling the seller to hold out for a higher price and risking losing a buyer.

Thanks Michael, much appreciated! I might tone it down a little and use 24 led light strips, which should hopefully give me the extra run time. 2 battery packs should then cover it hopefully..

Thanks again guys.. will no doubt be posting again in a while when I’m having problems!

    Cheers

Hmmm.. yep sounds like I went a bit overboard tightening up the non drive side bolt.. the tool had a cheap plastic insert, which was fine doing it up (a bit too tight!) but when trying to undo it chewed the tool up – so will get a new tool and then retry.

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.

My local paper is just village fetes and paedophiles.

However is a bit interesting this week – featuring a story on a mate’s gf (who everyone hates) who went a bit mental and tried to kill him by setting the house on fire whilst he was asleep, and then phoned the police to say she’d been kidnapped. Even more mental is the fact that he still hasn’t even contemplated leaving her. Quite what she has to do for him to leave her (given that she’s tried to kill him, burn down his mum’s house, and get him arrested for kidnap) I’m not sure. He won’t listen to his mates either way.

Most of the final editing of beauty related adverts is completed by lawyers. “Can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles” or “7/10 people noticed they had an improvement.”

Alternatively they just fill the adverts with psuedo-scientific bullsh*t terms to fool people.

Or on the product demonstration section of adverts, they have to leave a tiny amount of the plaque / dandruff / spots still showing after treatment in case it gives the impression it will definitely cure you.
