Good brakeless riding is impressive. I am not impressive and very much need a brake.

Also this guy is still running two and he’s more stylish than most: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ6XrB-AYeg

This is very true. I remember watching Nyquist in the 90s / early 00s at the xgames. Brakes for me are sorta pointless yes its all personal preference but when ever I use mine its at relatively slow speed cruising around town.

might not be everyones taste but im same size as you and find these really good. https://donelondon.co.uk/ long enough in the body. If you don’ t like their prints maybe ask them for some blanks (they are a print co too) in a few different colours.

yeh Chicago bars are like the bar ends of the bmx world. Also I would say remove that brake don’t need those on a bmx. Love mine will never sell it. Doesn’t see much use these days but once we move I have a small skatepark about 5mins away maybe less.

went to the pub post ride today wasn’t intending too but to be honest it was absolutely dead. Had to sign in giving our name, phone number and date we were there (track and trace app would make this way easier.) there was about 6 or 7 people inside we sat outside and the 5 of us were the only ones in the garden with about 7 or 8 picnic tables.. i think people are just still too scared / worried to be in a pub with loads of people.

I guess it all depends what your one and only bike is for. No point in getting a hardtail if all you ever do is downhill. I think a good rule is get a bike for 90% of what you do and 10% of what you may do. If I HAD to have one bike I would have my Solaris Max (maybe trade it for a 160 BfeMax) – its totally capable of all the trails locally to me and back home and I could do some bike packing on it with a few adjustments.

    Not raining today was it😉
    Was ok on Saturday.

Agree with this. I parked in Wescott and went to Holmbury, Leith then Redland and it was pretty dead. But, it was also pretty wet too. Redlands I didn’t see a single person. When its hot with the the plough now doing take away that area gets rammed with locals, riders and walker. I do wonder though with places now seeming “busy” is it due to a few months of people not being able to do anything so the perspective of whats busy and isnt has shifted a bit.

I used to have a saint shifter a derailleur on my old 4x bike and it as unreal. Despite a very small stiff ht no matter how rough stuff got it shifting we rapid fast and so smooth. If they make a 11/12sp version I would totally get one. I guess the popularity of enduro bikes has sorta killed it abit.

I feel the third kit is where teams should just do what ever they want. Take arsenal (sorta my club don’t follow football much) red / white for home and yellow / blue for away. third kit who cares. I follow basketball a lot closer and traditionally (until nike took over) EVERY teams home kit white with an additional colour then away is reversed, for example Boston white / green for home, away green / white.

Im glad shes gone there is no place for people like her in this world. If anyone supports her there is no place for them either. My grandad came here as a refugee after WW2 if it wasn’t for immigrating I would have never been born. The stuff she said about immigrants about bombing their boats was disgusting. I hope she gets kicked off IG too.

On every gravel bike or CX bike thread there’s always a muppet who completely ignores what the OP wants and says get a fast HT or rigid MTB.

this is so true, the next comment you get is why buy a mountain bike from the 90s. I feel like if you don’t have one you just wont get it. Living in london my gravel bike was such a saviour during lockdown I could do like 50+ mile loops form my house out of in bridal way and all that as good as my HT 29er is massive tyres its just too slow on the road.

Yeh I see your point personally I hate the idea of putting stuff under the downtube when the thing just gets covered in mud. Im waiting for the day Cotic do a rigid fork to compliment the Solaris for full on bike packing

People moaning about the bottle mounts are sorta forgetting what this bike is for. If you want to go full HT enduro then get a BfeMax BUT, if you want a bike that will do that AND allow you to ride into the hills for a week the Solairs is for you. Personally its exactly why I have one I can smash it around Surrey or back home in Wales all day throwing it down anything I would on my Rocket or take a 60+ mile loop from my house in London taking on roads, bridal way and any single track I find on route. Its a truly amazing bike.

His Game of thrones comment was shocking and proves just how out of touch he is with the world. I would suggest he comes out and says sorry but hes a raging Tory and they say sorry for nothing, just look at Cummings.

Gotta be honest if possible im going to be going on holiday this year. Me and my partner are hoping to visit Istanbul this year and then somewhere hot around Feb time (thailand or something similar). Im not putting my life on hold waiting for a vaccine that may never come. We will likely book something with free cancellation and the same with flights. We haven’t looked at specifics yet but we are both of the opinion get busy living or get busying dying.

Try looking at some less well known brands the likes of Brother,  Ritchey, or Soma. Everywhere like Canyon and Ribble are totally sold out. Also try you LBS if they are decent one they should have these brands or be able to get them.

So Trump has come out and said there is an aids vaccine which is 100% incorrect. The guys an absolute moron the stuff he says is disgusting. Hes just saying stuff to fill time because hes got nothing useful to say. It boggles my mind how anyone can actually support this. In the past month or so hes told he there is a cure for Aids and you can cure corona with “light.” If you vote for this bloke do the world a favour put your head in an oven and save the future of the human race.

I went out for a ride into town yesterday just for a nosey at the idiots. I did actually call into a shop. A vape shop to stock up on e-cig liquids. Just because they’re back open again, I always got my liquids (and e-cigs) from there, pre-lockdown, and I know that while they’ve still been doing mail order, they’re struggling.

So more on a ‘support your local business’ reason, rather than me absolutely having to have some new trackies from Sports Direct. I did ride actually ride past Sports Direct and there was an enormous queue outside. Bonkers!

This post just reeks of a massive contradiction. Its ok for you to get e-cigs (non essential) from someone you said you know is doing mail order, but someone can’t go to town and pick up some new clothes. Sounds like your “nosy at the idiots” is pretty much classist.

To my knowledge its still locals only. I never really use the store to be honest but they do have a van by the car park which sells stuff.

If you are still after something steel I would check out Brother Cycles. I have a Kepler that can take up to a 700x45c or 650x48c. Also check out Soma or Surly.

For the morons (I dont even care if I offend you at this point) claim “all lives matter”, “oh I don’t see colour” or “saying I have privilege due to my skin colour is racist” just WATCH and LISTEN to Eliot Jacksons experiences https://www.instagram.com/tv/CA8vs4xJTbq/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link. I really hope maying if this comes from a fellow cyclists might make you listen to his words a little more.

It appears so. Strange, life seems pretty good to me. There’s an African chap at work that I like to think of as my friend, he’s always very polite when I see him in the corridor. Maybe I’ll ask him why black people are so angry.

wow! im just lost for words I don’t even know where to start. While you’re at it though why not ask a Muslin person why they are all terrorist. Maybe this is just some super dark humour that I just don’t understand but I can’t for a second believe someone can be that dense to write what you did.

So watching the brief today how does Boris get to decide when other people do or don’t answer question he is basically censoring people.

Sat in my flat listening to rap music working from home while my partner (also a leftie) goes to work in a hospital. We also just donated a portion of our salary we saved last month to a local food bank to help those who are not as lucky as us.

As someone thats voted left his whole life but grew up in a tory house hold (despite being very working class) i will never understand it. I don’t understand how anyone could look at the last Labour manifesto and say it was full of bad ideas. Personally I think its because they are selfish and don’t care about helping others or want to pay less tax, but im sure its more complex than that.

The question i would rather ask Tories is do they feel like they are getting what they voted for.

Gotta say i binned my Gravel kings after a few rides nothing but punctures and the tread isnt aggressive enough for anything more than a bumpy road I pretty much hated them. Month or so ago I got these https://teravail.com/tires/rutland and they are amazing even took my bike down to blue trails today running tubes and didnt get a puncture.

So yesterday was hands down the best briefing yet. Shapps clueless, the lady next to him offering him absolutely zero help, everyone basically talking about Cummings without saying his name. He needs to go but wont Boris hasnt got the guts or power to sack him. Tories will just boy everyone off they do what they want. AKA, what happens when you have a bunch of over privileged white men running the show.

So gutted about this. I was 18 when Upwards came out and a full on backpacker absolutely obsessed with hip hop (not a lot has changed to be honest). The album felt like a breath of fresh air in the uk scene Big Dada and Nina Tune could do little wrong in those days. Brixton will miss him thats for dam sure. Gutted I didn’t get to see him perform with Kingdem. Rip ty! always upwards!

I think the laws are pretty simple if you been furloughed then you shouldn’t be working. But i assume the majority of people are pretty fearful they may lose their job so are going into to appear willing and keep said job.

My partner is similar to the OP. Shes a psychologist working on a dementia ward in a hospital. She feels really guilty using it and hasn’t simply because shes not working on a C-19 ward. Personally I think its for people like my sister in law who is a GP and shopping for her family and her parents who are isolating due to age and condition. But, as said the majority of people would use if if they could so don’t lose any sleep over skipping the line if you want.

hey all, im looking for some mud gravel tyre recommendations. Currently im running some panaracer gravel kings which are find on road and hardpark but I do a lot of “gravel” riding through mud where they just clog up and provide zero traction so looking for something with more aggressive tread. Anyone got any suggestions? thinking about these in a 38 has anyone tried them? https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Vittoria/Terreno-Wet-TNT-G20-Gravel-Clincher-Tyre/M6CA?s=1

    cheers!

For my sorta gravel bike I have a Wizard Works Lil Presto bag. Pretty much just throw everything in it tube, pump, leavers, phone, keys and all that.

This is my sorta road bike with flat 780 bars its a Brother Kepler. Bonus of something like this is it can take up a 700x45c or 650x48c so if you wanted you can gravel it. Currently running 32 or 35s I cant remember but it makes for a way more comfortable ride than skinny 25s.

I think I know the types he is referring to, overweight n overpaid with fancy job titles splashing out on all the gear and shiny new bike that will be cast aside and collecting dust in the garage once the pandemic is over, not real cyclists imo

I love these comments. Its amazing how you have grouped overweight, overpaid and a fancy bike into one demographic. Next you will be claiming they are not good enough to have the bike they do or the kit they do…. actually I think you already have with the “all the gear” comment.

Im intrigued what defines someone as a “real cyclists” though?

One thing I think needs to be covered is if you do go out make sure your bikes working even more than normal. I live in London so its road rides only and am ensuring I have all the normal things I would take on a mountain bike ride as I can’t just hop on a train if the worst happens.

I think more to the point no matter who you are no one needs to wear lycra. Even on my road bike im on baggies.

If you use a map a lot then get a 1030 otherwise I would suggest just getting a wahoo or a smaller cheaper Garmin as the big screen for map usage is its only advantage. I would say the devices are good but the software Garmin use is absolutely awful a few months ago I “updated” my device but there was a bug which removed every single map in western europe.

    Lammy!

    About time.

Im so stoked about this – hes amazing he talks with such clarity and conviction. Overall im not too mad at the cabinet although ed miliband coming back has proper thrown me.

I do wish everyone would get behind the party I feel the infighting has cost us over the year and it would be nice for it to end. I get people wanted to see a continuation of Corbyn its not what eve have ended up with.
