Total of WH cases over the past few days now exceeds the combined daily totals for NZ, Taiwan and Vietnam.

And I have no doubt there will be more.

Is this true? Where did you see that? Im not saying it isnt true is just seems crazy.

Personally I think the Chameleon (in carbon) is an awfully expensive bike where you really don’t get much for your money, you really are just for the brand. As said if you want an SC anything other than that will leave you a little disappointed.

This video sums it up well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeSAgIQXen8&ab_channel=BikeRadar

I suppose we should be grateful they aren’t sending handwritten tallies using carrier pigeons. Windows Vista was a big leap forward for the NHS.

this is so true. My partner works for the NHS didn’t even have a work laptop until the pandemic. Its stuff like this that makes people realise how horrifically underfunded the NHS are.

Patagonia Dirt Roamer is kind of a soft shell, and is brilliant.

just checked this out reviews seem good cheers!

I’d like to recommend a windshell and a choice of layers to go underneath depending on temps. You probably have the layers already.

Don’t know how you feel about that?

To be honest normally I do that, but sometimes it not enough especially for short rides and commutes when I just want to be warm.

I Keep looking at the latest Cotic escapade, shame it doesn’t have bosses on the fork

They spent all the bosses money on the Solaris… but as a side note i don’t get why any bike company would build a gravel bike and not put bosses on it these days. You know why people buy these bikes versatility. I wish my Kepler had 2 or 3 more on each leg.

For me its gotta be a Brother Kepler or Soma Wolverine I run flat bars on my Kepler and its billed as exactly what shes after a steel gravel touring bike, basically “all road.” This is my Kepler with flat bars and a rack still room for mudguards even running 38s.

I used mine for commuting (in my past covid free life) now its just a gravel / town bike hence the rack.

The bike that most has my attention currently is the Knolly Cache is a 56. Other than being about 30mm longer, the numbers are not too different from my old Decade Tripster. That has a 100mm stem and the Knolly recommend around 60~70mm so it all sort of works out.

That Knolly is well nice! Flat bars on a gravel bike are where its at for me. I run some 780s on my brother with 110 stem as I hate drop bars. With spesh offering their Diverge with flatbars I think its gonna be more common.

I don’t know why anyone would ride less than 32/35mm unless you are in the TdF.

This is so true. For years I ran 25s on an ali single speed. the bike was rapid but if i didn’t see a pot hole or something in the road i felt like i was gonna snap my collar bone. Im so over racing through town now I run 38s and just take it really relaxed.

Choose your route carefully, and also ride defensively.

dude, I have been living and commuting in london for the last 10 years im a pretty confident cyclists, But cars plus the general state of our roads I don’t get why anyone would do it.

I want to ride like I’m on a road bike but with the variety of surfaces and scenery that gravel riding offers.

This is pretty much exactly where im at. Got a Brother Kepler which used to just be my commuter now with lockdown its been changed into a gravel bike doing rides from my house. The idea of doing road fills me with dread cycle to my lbs today and got cut up twice and close passed once. I don’t know how roadies do 100 odd miles on a road and enjoy it.

Light carbon 29er hardtail might work just as well

I wish I had a quid for every time someone asks about gravel bikes and someone responded with either this or just get a ridged 29er. No matter how light a hardtail 29er is there is no way I want draggy mtb tires on a 50+ mile ride thats split between road and bridal way.

I recently broke my 3rd metacarpal (pretty small fracture) went to the hospital that evening had 4 weeks in a cast now at week 5 started physio. Been cleared for some road / gravel riding but no big bikes due to repeated impacts on the hand that still after 5 weeks will have a bit of a fracture. Fractures normally take 6-8 weeks to heal. To be honest after another 4 weeks in a cast your hand will be stiff and pretty weak riding a bike is sorta unrealistic. When they took my cast off I could just about lift a kettle.

Partner told me this morning oh Trumps got covid my first response was yeh sure he just doesn’t want to go on TV again. His past actions and spread of disinformation mens loads of people will think this is BS. Heard a stat how given his age and weight hes 90% more likely to have complications than a teenger. Thats crazy 90%. But its all good he just out the light on it and zap it right out.

I feel like these days MIPS is just a basic requirement of a helmet they should all have it. Personally I wouldn’t buy a helmet without it.

I find it mad when people say they don’t know anyone who has been affected by Covid. I don’t know if its just because I live in London (higher cases and all that) but I know about 10+ people who have had it all are close / semi close friends.

On the subject of tests and antibodies my partner had it at the start of lock down (got it from me) all the symptoms apart from loss of taste of smell. Works for the NHS and had the antibody test a few months ago result not antibodies and never had covid. The general feeling seems to be the bigger the gap between infection and test the less reliable they are.

We can. He didn’t apologise, the rules didn’t apply to him, apparently. And he did break them. Resigning from a role where you are involved in setting the rules that you yourself are breaking is a reasonable thing to ask for, without calling for others to be fined where they have slipped and apologised.

Im not defending Cummigns all im saying is it can’t be one rule for them and one for us – which seems the case. Cummings should have resigned / been sacked and JC and Bojos dad should be fined. Its about a level playing field when normal people break the rules we get fined they should too. its really simple. I

Sorry to get political but along with Johnson Sr getting caught Corbyn got busted having dinner for 9

Labour want corbyn fined, but tories don’t

Corbyn should 100% be find and Johnson’s dad. We cant call for Cummings to resign when he didn’t technically break the rules and let JC get away with it. Im pro JC but you can 100% guarantee a normal person will get fined for this.

The government should be sending out a dictat that we are in a clear national emergency, and any corporate media platform that promotes entanglement of the rules faces action.

Surly that last bit is a dangerous road to go down, the gov’ cannot and should not be able to say what the press can and cannot say.

The “law and order” thing is very popular. I read a couple of articles where people don’t like trump, they think he is racist but they are really worried and feel that this is the most important thing.

If you watch the 13th one of the things they cite in Clinton gaining power years ago was that for a Democrat he went super hard on crime

I wonder if deep down after he leaves the job that he’ll realise what a bad PM he’s been

That requires the ability to reflect on the fact you may have done something wrong. That is a skill this guy really doesn’t have. Never says sorry, feels like he needs to say sorry or that there is even a possibility he could be wrong.

That was just awful. Watched the highlights for anyone who saw the whole thing was it as bad as teh highlights made out? None of them seemed to say anything Trump wouldn’t shut up and in the 10mins i saw I couldn’t name a single policy either of them have.

Mrs anagallis is free today, she just off to walk the dog, not jealous at all 😟😟😟😟 I have 4 days left.

How you finding it? I guess going through it with a partner helps. We had to do it right at the start and it SUCKED. Had to get friends to drop us food and rely on deliveroo to get us food from local shops. It was an expensive few weeks. Feel like if you lived somewhere more rural or were on your own it could be struggle. Asda and so on need to do something to support people that have to self isolate.

Went to the Pub Saturday evening, it was pretty good. Masks on entry or bugger off. Pre-booked tables only, table service etc.

I noticed this on Sunday when partner and I went for a roast. Is this now law or are people just being a bit more sensible? General vibe was mask warn anywhere but your seat so going to toilet means wearing a mask.

Interestingly, out of 3 of us in our office today I’m the only one to have installed it. One older guy who’d heard it munches your battery, and the other who was worried about being required to isolate unnecessarily. They’re both smart people. It worries me a bit they haven’t looked in to it further.

The thing is even in a non covid world many won’t / don’t bother to do any further reading if they did I think our gov’ would be a lot better hands. The isolation thing I think is a real concern especially for those who need to be in a place of work to do their job – especially when you got handcock saying oh if you gotta isolate you can just collect standard sick pay which wont be paying anything more than a phone bill.

Yes….it plays directly to them being able to change the narrative from: “the government have really botched this up, resulting in an enormous second wave over winter” to “well…. people just weren’t following our clear instructions, that’s why Christmas is cancelled – you’ve only got yourself to blame”

Tories passing the buck surly not…. /sarcasm

gilet is a good idea as you can layer them. Unless its really cold I will just wear a gilet and a shell waterproof over the top. As for a base layer I would get something cycling / active specific cotton is a bad idea you will get hot, sweat and then cold as cotton doesn’t wick away.

Again, I see no reason to have the app running in my house.
I switch it on when I go into places where it may provide information which will be useful, but leave it off when it won’t.

I guess the question is why you feel the need to do that (turning it off and on)? Do you have security concerns, tracking, or just general distrust? I mean its totally up to you no one can stop you turning off and on just intrigued.

I guess the flatmate result could be one of those false positives – from More Or Less today, that’s running at around 20% or so of results.

Is that last bit true? 20% of tests get a false positive that seems crazy high. Not saying you’re wrong just that it seems madness

I have some 5:10 kestrel which despite how much I normally hate 5:10s are pretty good. Use them for general road riding and also gravel. Would use them for mountain bike ridings but I don’t use spds. If you dont an odd colour Adidas has some red ones on sale recently. Super stiff sole and boa close is really good too

Id bet the vast majority of banks still makes a healthy profit in their 20/21 figures.

Even if they make a profit I don’t think employees will see it. I work for a bank and pretty much expect zero bonus next year but to be honest im not that fussed a bonus is exactly that a bonus. im just happy to have a job these days.

But on the subject of businesses doing well im the 6th hire in my department since the whole lockdown thing started.

Hes an extremely odd bloke. Seems to have zero remorse for what he did. Although im 100% sure a lot of others in that era did the same too for me its more about how he acted that makes it worse.
