Why are they so damn rude and unappreciative?

Said every generation about every younger generation. Im a millennial and im pretty sure my parents and parents parents generation said the same thing about me. Just get over it. No ones perfect.

To throw out some fun generalisations boomers are the worst brought several homes for a fiver, sitting on massive pensions moan when the slightest thing hasn’t gone your way because everything throughout your life has. My generation “doesn’t know how good we got it” because I have a smartphone and spent all my money on smashed avo.

A bunch of fat bald headed lager drinking banter football supporting ***** lads just come in, a good percentage of them wearing Arcteryx and Fjällraven. Do I need to burn my wardrobe??

Where you been this has been a thing for years google Gorpcore has been a thing for years. Merrell, ACG, Salomon and so on are all pretty popular these days.

anyone who’s ever dealt with Cy and his team will know they’re a great bunch and really not in this game to profiteer from their customers and get filthy rich. The service I’ve received from Cotic has always been 5 star – they respond to emails quickly, accommodate all sorts of requests and custom builds, and even answer the phone! I bent Paul’s ear for a good half hour when ordering my Cascade to ensure I made the right choices, we had a good laugh and did some real bike nerding. .

this 1 million percent! Im on my 3rd Cotic. Got a Rocket Max last year just before the current one was release. I emailed them to ask a few questions they told me the new one was coming incase i wanted to wait (it had not been made public yet), I didnt went and got the old one then few weeks after my purchase they discounted the old one and refunded the difference. I didn’t ask for it they just emailed saying they would as it was the right thing to do.

Yes £1200 is a lot. But if you love the bike and get great customer service, then maybe it’s worth saving for….A bike shouldn’t be disposable impulse, but something you treasure for years.

    and this!

It seems that orders are still getting delivered. Has anyone ordered a bike recently? Is it worth the risk? The bike in question is a Vitus, and I accept that the warranty will probably be worthless.

If you use a credit card you will be covered right?

As a balance I have gone through 2 rear Fortus rims in less than a year (single cavity Fortus30 and a first gen Fortus25). One I hit a rock on a drop that was about shin height dented not saveable (Fortus 30), second fairly big case dented same result.(not sure much would have survived the second). Im very light on bike parts never broken anything apart from these rims. Would 100% not buy again and not recommend.

If you’re not in a mad rush for them I would wait a bit and get some 511s they are just such a solid rim.

Different things work for different people.

agree. i wear a full face all year and unless we are hitting 30+ in totally fine. I found the first TLD A1 absolutely awful. Gravel / commuting rides I have a POC kortal which is super breathable.

They also often have one (last year two) demo stages you can ride on any bike, one off the road climb and another off Fremington Edge which I think was a race stage a few years ago.

yep i think its the old final state i think when it was 5 stages? Last year mate demoed some bikes and i just used mine. only 2 stages but worth it for a few goes.

I can do it in three months on the NHS, or next Tuesday privately.

3 months is the nhs thats messed up these days! how can they leave someone that long with a broken collarbone, madness. I did mine about 7 or 8 years ago x-ray day 1, week later another set dr said its moved the wrong way lets plate it and a week later they did the surgery. Best outcome as i lost less than 5% movement.

Ideally you need to keep it as stable as possible and limit movement in the area to give the bones the best change to join but realistically i feel like thats just not possible. I went private for physio best decision i made ended up having it for like 3 months. If you can go private.

You had a coach stuck behind you for 2 miles and you didn’t think to pull in and let them past?! That is exactly the sort of behaviour that causes problems.

LOL! “sort of behaviour that causes problems.” Whatever. Its the close passes from the idiot driver that causes the problem.

Second year in a row where they’ve gone spursy on the run in, they’re back in the CL now and battling top 4, but nowhere near winning the league,

While I agree we have gone full Gallas in the centre circle this season to say we are “nowhere near winning the league” is a bit of a reach. The Saliba injury really hurt us we need to focus on quality back up defenders and replace Xhaka. Currently far closer than anyone else some 10 odd points clear of newcastle and united.

This city side is unreal 3 titles in a row and something like 5 out of the last 6. It will take a lot to beat them over a season.

Off the top of my head – smoking in bars. Not that smoke myself. But now look what’s happened. A general atmosphere of sickly perfume and farts. Noisy little kids running around and insufferable people taking ages at the bar ordering food.

This is brilliant. Of all the things banned or generally awful about this country you picked smoking in bars. love it. well played.

One thing Cooper is right about is its absolutely a matter for the BBC and the gov’ shouldn’t be chipping in. We all know the tories didn’t care when Sugar was telling everyone to vote tory and for Brexit. You don’t get to pick and choose impartiality and if thats hill you want to die on Linker, Sugar, and Sharp all should go. If linker broke the rules so did they. But the tories have got exactly what they wanted people are talking about MOTD and not this god awful bill that “pushes the boundaries of international law”

Been YouTube premium for 4 years as I hate adverts, don’t listen to YouTube music at all as it’s 256 kbps AAC at best, I use Tidal for 90% of my listening with 10% Apple Music

I would love to know what headphones/speakers you’re using to actually notice the difference.

It’s more to do with the attitude of people (on here and typically of the left). If you have a polarising opinion about something, or something that doesn’t toe the line with the virtuous, you receive vitriol…

For me people calling out “virtue signalling” and “wokeism” its like give it a rest. Often someone does something nice and someone feels they need to pull them down and label them woke or a virtue signaller. Ultimately for me when someone uses these words it feels like there is sense of arrogance and bitterness around it. Its also a bit of a cop out like when people say something rude or offensive and just go “lolz bantzzzz”

To your original point, there must be a deeper reason as to why you were offended / triggered / annoyed about the giving back his obe and what that is who knows. Maybe its because hes calling out negatives you may not want to acknowledge about British history, maybe you think hes sticking 2 fingers up at something you see value in. What ever it was it was enough for you to make a post about it.

It speaks volumes that a poster on here is willing to be quite insulting to a regular poster in defence of an actor he’s never interacted with (not that it bothers me, I knew the response I’d get, it’s just interesting to see who seeths most).

whats the amount you post got to do with anything? You don’t get special privileges if you talk nonsense someone has a right to pull you up on it.

Lennon was never totally happy accepting it, had a current reason in 1969 (4 years after he received it) with what the British were actually up to. And he had Yoko in his ear

Selective reasoning is selective. For that troll and poke for their own amusement I often wonder how sad and empty their lives are.

To save others searching, he’s given back his OBE, following discussions about the monarchy and empire after the queens death
Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. People can change their views, opinions once they feel a little more educated about something. its not “virtue signalling” or “‘woke’ism.”

Was it wokeism when Lennon returned his MBE in 1969?

Love this, often feel like people opinions on whats “woke” or “virtue signalling” is coloured by if they like the person or not.

I find the whole concept of “virtue signalling” and “‘woke’ism.” absolutely ridiculous causes need to be talked about so people can learn abot them. Was MLK woke and virtue signalling when he told the world he had a dream. (yes, i understand thats ridiculous thats my point.)

I mostly use these for commuting https://www.albioncycling.com/product/zoa-rain-trousers-olive-grey/ but with winter bibs under them im perfectly warm even for the short half hour odd commute – tight on the ankle to stop the wind, and waterproof. Gravel a ride yesterday normal bibs and mtb trousers couldn’t care less if a roadie looks at me funny im warm.

I have one, also picked it up in the sale. Not used it on the bike yet (just not been cold enough.) but walking to the shops and town it does the job. full price seems far to much for a jacket that isn’t fully waterproof but for 130quid its worth a go.

He is not much more than a privileged boy running out of money, hence the TV shit and biography. If he really wanted to disappear it would be easy enough.

I very much doubt he and his wife will ever run out of money. The worlds press seem to have an opinion on everything they do so they sorta have the right to use their platform to say something back i figure. And the idea they could “disappear” is crazy because thats worked so well for even the most minor celebrity hasn’t it. im by no means a royal and think some of the stuff hes said done is stupid, I just think this view is an over simplification.

is there much difference between the solaris and solaris max to warrant the upgrade? But if I was after a short travel full suspension bike the flare would be up there. Rear shock options are the downside for me. Done the CaneCreek thing not going back.

As my father-in-law always says – and which its difficult to argue with – ‘stick to what you’re good at, pay other people to do what they’re good at’

Agree on this! I can swap pads, service a dropper, tubeless stuff anything else goes to the local. Its also a time thing after I have been at work the last thing I want to do is work on my bike and the weekend I want to ride.

I cant say Im surprised. I have never really understood how ‘influencers’ or brand ambassadors ever demonstrated value for money from the marketing spend.

these days with all the social media analytics its actually pretty simple for someone to work out their worth. Its how Kendall Jenner is able to charge close to a million for a instagram post.

    is the SolarisMAX being discontinued?

I hope not. My Max is set up with a 140 and its perfect. Being able to take a 140 is what makes the bike so versatile I could rebuild it in the future and make it “more xc” if i wanted. I have done everything on it local trails, wales trips even 90k/100k ride that I would normally take my gravel bike on.

I thought about frame swapping to a Bfe last summer but the fact the solairs is full 853 which gives it such a better feel.

However, once these are sold through they’re gone, so you’ll need to get on the list for a new Solaris. If you want a 130-140 fork, you’ll need to get on the BFeMAX.

thats sad. Isnt the BFe Max made out of slightly worse (if thats the correct term) steel so a bit more flexy?

I have nothing to add other than this thread is brilliant. The idea that a person/people are willing to neglect tech to make their lives harder is crazy life is too short to waste on this stuff. But i guess while you’re in a line waiting for a bank to open or be seen at least you have time to kill so can read all those terms of services to decide if you want to use an app or not. I have never read a terms of service in my life thats just long.

out of interest, how do you see that as being different?

Im here for this answer. whats meant by “infiltration”? With bio and face id the phone is way more secure and any sort of tracking done on the phone will be done on a website too.

For me its food every hour or so and generally something approaching real food. But I guess picnics are not the done thing on a club ride?

This… well for me any way. A lot of people over complicate this and rightly so when to professional athletes, but for us normal people I think this basic rule is totally fine. Half a cliff bar every hour and plenty of water does me fine. Anything more than this and I feel awful on a ride – the idea of mid ride cake just makes me want to vomit.

Honestly trousers are the only way to go. I would way rather pull off some wet/muddy trousers after a ride than some rank tights. For commuting recently I got some Albion over trousers which I just wear bibs under and have been amazing. Not mountain bike baggy but and not skin tight roadie either nicely in between. No pockets is the downside but thats not an issue on a ride to work or gravel ride.

I feel like the “trend” is now trousers so getting something like a fully waterproof tights maybe a struggle.

it’ll require more body movement and/or a more forceful action to get the same results

This. You just need to give them more stick. I used to have a similar problem with my HT and it was sorta my “sensible bike” but since I have gotten used to it more I ride the same stuff as I do on my big bike. Just gotta push and pull them about a bit more. Big bikes for me are totally the way forward old small 27.5 are dead. Bring on the gates!

Not sure how to spell it but it’s the first thing he says in this song, and then it’s about every 4 seconds.
It’s not ‘ugh’ or even ‘ugghhhh’, it’s more ‘ooheuurggh’ and it’s entirely unnecessary and sounds ridiculous.
    Just stop it.

do you not think that this is just part of his delivery? For me its what gives his music the feeling that hes just rolling it off is brain at that moment or he’s mid conversation with someone – also give his music this super laid back feel.

Ainge has absolutely loaded the Jazz with a massive haul of 1st Rd picks over the next few seasons and even if we don’t bag Weybanyama next Summer there’s still some great talent to hopefully get hold of.

As a Boston fan be prepared for Danny to sit on those for a long time. Loves to collect them and I don’t really think he was ever able to use them effectively in Boston didn’t get KD, didn’t get AD, got Kyrie and we all know how that turned out.

My money would be on the Albion Zoa range, for me perfect on/off bike. Cuts really good doesn’t make you look like a power ranger and really subtle branding. Extremely good people too… oh and they do free repairs.

If the tenant is paying the bill and they wont be knocking massive holes in walls i don’t get why you would care. To be honest if you was my landlord I wouldn’t even have told I would have just done it – not once have I ever told a landlord about anything bills related. Yes its your house but its their home they live there and it needs to fit their needs.
