I wish him all the best but getting active travel schemes over the line for most local authorities is extremely difficult. Regardless of money. If ATE improve levels of design and knowledge on the schemes then it will have done something.

I know it was discussed above but a lot of infrastructure will need road space re allocation. However if it’s reallocating road space from the car the the schemes will be poorly received and therefore politically difficult.
Until the public are literally forced out of their boxes they’ll carry on using them.

But until the politicians grow a pair and central government allocate a decent sum to active travel then don’t expect mini hollands overnight.

Apart from Minehead none of the Southerns are difficult. PMBA is generally on another level.
Don’t have to make it as a racer to enjoy racing so your last sentence sums it up.
There is nothing like racing to improve at racing so if he has a natural aptitude for it then he’ll continue to improve and enjoy it.

stop over thinking things. you’ve never done one but you’re talking about changing bikes already? I started on a hardtail, then patriot. Even my sunday etc was probably shorter than that spesh.

He’ll be learning so much that the bike won’t be the thing that’s holding him up. Once he’s competitive then maybe think about a dh rig if you do nationals etc.

If you want to make a helpful change then the key thing will be swapping the tyres for dh ones. for the race. Have a set of mud tyres on stand by too.

No comment on LCL but I fractured and pulled off the knuckle bone that holds ACL onto Tib, in the process over extending the ACL.

I guess the window for the op is for the actual fracture. I know from mine they wanted to wait until swelling was gone but plenty of people have the reconstruction as elective/not as result of a break.

Mine stuck itself back where it was meant to anyway and had a bit of keyhole surgery to tidy things up. Didn’t have the reconstruction as that wasn’t guaranteed and didn’t want to be having it done repeatedly (10 years ago the long term success rates werent great). Keeping fit and maintaining quad and hamstring strength is critical to my knee strength/stability and i have the odd minor wobble but nothing severe. I play football at least twice a week, been back snowboarding etc so no problems. Took about a year before I had proper strength.

    So be patient. Shit happens.

By all means make sure you’re in the best possible care and able to move but getting back to normal will take sometime so you need to be prepared for lots of effort. and it’s best to work out how to accept that.

Similar aged house here. Our mortgage company appointed a surveyor and we got a copy for a little extra. Nothing really came up as it was arse covering i.e. there’s no fence along our border of the river. But they did a proper job and if something had come up then we would have used it to walk or get money off.

Echo the thoughts on solicitors. Our sellers tried to play brinkmanship with our purchase late in the day, near exchange or something due to not having correct Land Reg plans for our address. It got sorted on time but you need to be able to rust them to get on with stuff.

We still get the sellers mail and some xmas cards which i happily bin.

and beware of your sellers estate agents. they really are looing after themselves and their sale and will lie and lie.

Sorry to hear. Been dealing with similar but not terminal.

Not sure on a will. Based one of my parents dying I think it defaults to the spouse once probate is granted but your surviving parent will need one. You probably don’t need to do anything other than make sure your parents know where all the pensions are etc.

another nod for rock awnings. It’s withstood all weathers in the exposed paddock areas of kart tracks for 4 years now so pretty solid

I think OP should produce their own Highway code and mail it around his neighbourhood so that everyone knows who is and isnt entitled to use the pavement.

Sounds like you need help from professionals regarding mental health.
As others have said, children will be worse and you can’t take them back/sell them.

Should not be feeling this way and it’s not the dog as you know it’s temporary.

right now it’s mostly work with the puppy. You can’t take him out. In a few weeks you will and then you’ll get the fun reward and something to look forward to with your OH.

We went from a mature dog to a puppy lab who is now 8 months old so it was a bit of a shock how much work he is but he’s getting better everyday. I dont remember all the work but he’s responding really well so it’s worth being patient.

reckon we’ll get a pretty strong signal within the next five days from the severity of our own hospitalisations, which will then guide restrictions from the 27th. It’s now too late to do anything prior to Christmas, so that intergenerational mixing is baked in for the first couple of weeks of January.

Also, why is the BBC still giving airtime to Heneghan? Wasn’t he one of the Great Barrington types floating around in November 2020 with Gupta saying Covid was basically over and there was no sign of a second wave? I had to turn the TV off sharpish this morning because they decided to give Peter Bone a platform, presumably for ‘balance’.

Don’t know how to quote the tweet but Omicron case detection also lags so wouldn’t there be less lag between detecting omicron and hospitalisations?

can someone remind me what the lag is between a positive pcr test and confirming what variant it is? Am assuming confirmed omicron cases are several days behind

The whole point of the article was that it was the same rider on the same track doing timed runs. they had a few riders doing the same though to limit effect of bike fit/preferences.

The only variable is the bike in which case, yes you can buy speed on that track. However results may vary across tracks but interestingly those 3 bikes are the most winning bikes on the EWS overall…

I remember switching from 26 to newer Spesh enduro and I was instantly quicker according to strava. The bike was more capable, not sure it was just the wheels but every difference added up.

hilarious. has Zidane turned Utd down? Not sure why people would rather have poch (won **** all except french cup) vs Zidane (3 x CL etc). Zidane as an interim manager? wtf. Utd fans really do think too much of their club.

Maybe there’s a business in a portable battery on wheels to recover flat EV’s? Or just plan ahead because if you run out it’ll get really costly quickly.

Are we not done with raising concerns over an EV’s range yet? We all know that but if you had one you would make adjustments and not just head out knowing you havent got enough range to get where you’re going.

Wasn’t going to be bothered with the Lambo but the engine sounds so good. In GT3 form they are immense.

Best bit was Fred having a seizure after eating that chilli. How far will he go to win? Nutter

Realistically the right manager may not be available until summer. But I think just about anybody could do a better job now as he’s lost the players. Just need to change him and get the players heads straight/organised

Congrats. I was also surprised how easy Mod 2 was. Thinking logically it’s no surprise. I have a car licence and can ride a bike. Just remembering to do the life savers, signals and lane controls.

I have a scrambler. I like it but I rarely use it as going distance on it is tiring and where i dont commute anymore I have no actual reason to ride. Wanting an adventure type tenere 700 or something for some trips and greenlaning.

My SC bearings lasted 4 years and probably would have been fine for longer. It’s no garage ornament either. Remarkable for a bike designed in california and ridden in bogs throughout most of the year. Their sealing is excellent.

I know you’re only comparing warranties but the sentinel looks to be a more modern design and is new. Hightower is due an update so would be worth waiting on perhaps.

SC warranty is good though and the bikes tend to be pretty reliable. Seen and heard quite a few issues with transitions that you shouldnt really expect on something at a similar price point. Not enough to put me off though.

As for yeti. Isnt the reason that they cost so much because they’re pricing in several warranty replacements?

    I used 77diamonds.

You can work out what you can afford and it allows you to select the qualities of the diamond. It didnt need to be a diamond but it is a rally nice stone.

Instead of empty promises from her can you hold her to seeking help? If she doesn’t then you know the answer. If she does then you’ll both need to wipe the slate clean between you.

I’m not getting out a huge amount and I’m not fussed if I miss out. But i generally look forward to riding next and love the buzz after a ride. If you’re getting out and then not feeling the love for it then perhaps do something else.

Some of you are making it seem like Man U sole issues are because of their owners. How much have Man U spent?? 75% of what City have, huge wage bills, OGS had spent £400m? So how exactly are the owners the issue other than their poor appointments. Liverpool have spent far less but on the pitch are a league ahead and I doubt it’s just the players.

Difference between FWG and the Glazers is that FWG appointed Klopp. Klopp is one of the best beyond doubt and has good players that do as he wants.

OGS has done ok until recently but he’s lost the players. Either that or he’s decided to do away with a pre match plan. eitherway not a good look.

what’s the **** point of flip chips that offer just .3 degrees of adjustment. No ones going to change it from where they set it to originally because no one can tell if .3 makes any difference. Pointless feature. don’t offer it as a feature for so little

Bikes should be fine in most accomodation there. Just check before booking.

Agree on Freeride Madeira. Dont waste your holiday riding up or looking for trails. It’s too good to not be riding.

If you are intent on doing your own day locals either do their own uplifts or use the buses out of Funchal

From what I could see Jim Ballard seemed a bit controlling and I wonder what affect that had on Tom’s own decision making on that mountain. His climbing partner seemed to be driven by his own quest for greatness to the detriment of anything else. Should have walked away as it was more foolish than anything else at that point.

    How far is your commute?

I have an alpinestars two piece textile over suit. Baggy enough that i can wear my normal work clothes under so all i have to do is take the suit off to be ready rather than changing trousers etc. saves a a heap of effort.

Having sat and rode my friends Large sentinel around that area, and me being 5ft 11 and being just about comfortable I’d say large may be too big. You need to sit on one though, maybe travel.

Bike wise I think it’s a good compromise between full enduro and trail. Not too heavy and rolls quick but can handle the rough. Was impressed!

to those saying time moves on and we have dropper posts and disc brakes that we now accept as the norm…. Those things were actually marked improvements.
Electronic shifting doesnt change what we can ride. It’s incremental improvement at best. The cost of the upgrade isnt worth it to me.

my 11 speed x01 is till working fine 6 years later. Reliability for mtb stuff is pot luck
