I wouldnt reach the pedals with a 200mm post!

The noise of the floating arm was horrendous. I swapped the rear end to a non floating arm and it was faster. Because I think the brake jack stopped it sinking into holes. Probably an age thing though. stick 18 year old me on a current dh bike and it’d be the quicker bike.

I dont think anyone is saying the administrators have exclusively been called in because of a lack of bottle cages. but it is a sign of not being contemporary enough in my opinion.

I had the 222/223. I was never faster than on those bikes and I would have liked an orange again. But their trail bikes were never an option as they didn’t have a bottle cage mount. I’m not alone in that. Don’t like bags for a few hours blast. I barely see anyone with a pack these days. You may think it is easy to clean but take a look around at any popular trail area.

I saw someone joking, maybe on PB that its a thing that bikes are designed around having a water bottle over having better suspension.

I don’t know how much that contributes to a companies downfall but mountain bikers are so fad-ish that one minute something is in and then next it’s out and everyone is buying/using something else. Brands have to keep up and stay relevant. Whether thats having the best bikes or a successful marketing team with decent riders doing cool things on video (not BM)

Yeah, I don’t think it needs a focal point for the type of piece it is

Are brands like Pivot really big in the US or something? Just don’t see them and they don’t make cheap bikes either.

Assegai and DHR/HR2 on the rear seems to be pretty good all the time. mostly ride off piste.

If those reds and blacks are surfaced trail centre type things then you shouldnt need to worry about mud tyres like shortys and something like the above will be fine.

well he’s obviously ever so qualified and clever because he is a pilot we shouldn’t be questioning it. You’ve just been on a fancy driving course mate

What actual data, holes in peer reviewed work has actually been called out in the article? What new information is it declaring? One graph, that isnt explained given as fact. No analysis.

When an author uses the word dunces, scam, elites etc, it pretty much loses all credibility.

Who is gatekeeping what mountain biking is anyway?

    Erm

and if the sport to them is just about fitness, they should probably just ride a road bike or take up running.

    you? : )

tongue in cheek/sarcasm. forgot to notate…

I think as mountain bikers, we all prefer fun otherwise we’d be road cyclists (or worse). I own an ebike as well as other bikes and it’s great.
I used to think they were for fat lazy people or people with mobility issues as you could put zero effort in to get up hills. This isn’t true. I get a work out (if it was my only form of exercise for two hours a week then it wouldnt be enough) but the key thing is it actually makes me get out riding when I wouldnt bother. i.e. when I’ve only got a few hours in a weekend.
If my legs are **** from other exercise, i can still go riding too.

I dont think it is about giving up. It’s a tool to get more riding done.

I’m far from new to the sport. Finding the motivation to ride up a hill by myself is hard. I barely rode my enduro bike last year as I wait on friends but they have commitments and the opportunities to ride were few. In that context i had almost given up (other than XC).

But the ebike has meant that I can get uphills quicker so I’m less bored and can just do the stuff I can enjoy. I get 3x the descending in as i’m always moving, not standing around at the top chatting while my lactic acid goes away.

Most pro riders seem to use them too so any stigma that they get from some seems to be a bit weird.

Then there are those that think they’re cheating but use an uplifts them selves? Ebikes provides the same thing but everywhere.

Who is gatekeeping what mountain biking is anyway? Since when is it just about having to ride uphill or keeping fit? We ride mountain bikes because they’re fun. Because we’re hedonists. Ebikes allow us to have more of it. .

At this point the only people that hate on ebikes are ignorant, and if the sport to them is just about fitness, they should probably just ride a road bike or take up running.

try and arrange a chat with the course leader if you haven’t already. I’d just list the jobs and use the personal statement to draw the relevant experience to the course and what you want to get out of doing it.

My bikes are getting no interest whatsoever and I dont think I’m asking much. Is it just the time of year or CRC etc?

I really should have thought before writing that. It’s an expensive headache that costs the equivalent of a mortgage and steals my time

Only tend to get thoughts about new bikes when current bikes are getting on, and then it’s just a case of it becoming an eventuality as that thought will not leave my brain. Although I’m pretty set in what i ride so only have the HT, EMTB and enduro bike. no interest in road or gravel although I have been there.

Luckily the mrs has a horse so i can get away with buying whatever.

I had a wrongful claim against me because someone cloned my plates for the same car. Had no connection to the location and I had no ‘alibi’. Ended up with them sending an engineer to confirm that my car hadnt been in a crash. The person that was hit understandably wanted to claim. It was just the insurance companies not willing to take risk and settle sooner. Based on that experience i doubt they’ll just go away

Don’t forget to bargain in an agreed reference too. Preferably one that was for your old role and not your junior one

I’d quite like a swytch conversion for my pub/commuter bike that i leave at the station. It may not be a perfect design but it would mean that i can leave my bike and not worry too much about it being stolen with the expensive bits which i’d take with me on the train.

I know the game didn’t matter but that was shit. The collection of players there should do a load better.
While i like Southgate as a person his tactics are unambitious and we’ll win **** all. 1-1 with macedonia ffs

We have a lab with floppy ears and gets the odd infection and previously had mites. The vets just prescribed a antibiotic ear drops that did the job. They were expensive for a small bottle and consultation (£90) but not to the level of your vet. But they may be overly cautious too. In which case just say that you’ll monitor it and bring him back.

Have a feeling some want to wrack up the bills to make a nice insurance claim.

she can pitch that all she like but those same people see her as a blummin foriner too.

I think Sunak would gain some respect sacking her. looks weak not doing so so unsure what he has to lose

not sure why you think reach would be effected.

as others have said bb drop, effective seat tube angle would be more of an issue. it’ll be forever hitting pedals on the ground so you need to resolve that either by steepening it with the flip chip, longer stroke shock etc or using shorter cranks.

This end (western) will be ok if it stays wet as the mud is watery. When it dries it gets gloopy and I’m not sure 100 miles on that will be fun

I never pay much attention to things before their last position. Most of what will get them an interview is their experience etc.
HR may filter out some people.

We’re a large employer and use value based interviews so combing over their CV wont come up in the interview.

IF there were a lot of gaps you may get asked but a gap six years or so ago is less problematic

Are they better to sleep in than a tent though? I really hate normal tents. Too hot in summer, too cold any other time.

The whole thing is a mess and whatever the situation for improving Israeli and Palestinian relationships over Gaza and Palestine was, who is right or wrong etc; You can debate settlers, Gaza, treatment of Palestine etc but Saturday was a turning point and not for the better. Hamas have just chucked it out the door for the foreseeable (it is quite clear they are the same as ISIS but with different ambitions)

As someone articulated far better than me, both sides will need to find more moderate views but a lot of normal people are going to die.

Oakley make bike stuff, and then energy drinks sponsor riders.

putting the struggles down to commentary and on screen info seem to be a little too reductive.

not sure tv has really helped DH anyway?

Most sponsors still seem to be from the bike industry. Bike industry is struggling with less cash to inject into racing.

This year EDR seems to have been forgotten and become difficult to watch. It managed before the WBD take over without TV.

Needs to go back to it’s own thing with a festival attached like tweedlove.

Gearbox e-bikes certainly make sense, but also at the expense of weight, complexity, and less user serviceability, but then I’ve never really understood the hate-on that some folks have for derailleurs.

I’m probably feeling sore about my XT mech exploding at the weekend. It had an interaction with a stick that pushed the cage onto the wheel so nothing caused by the type of bike.

But then Gearboxes should need less maintenance and wont be so vulnerable. Motorbikes manage but they’re less fussed by weight

    joefm

It’d be cheating if you went the same speed as a normal bike…

I think the gearbox motor (the other article on the main page) may be the next great thing for them.

That attack yesterday sounded terrible. Given the ongoing coverage recently I am not surprised that they’ve banned them.

Don’t know why anyone would want one for a pet other than some silly chav status symbol thing. Even the owners that say that their dogs are lovely etc, why have you got one!?

Slow pace, backwards passing and own goals. He’s having a mare and not being helped by Southgate who keeps putting him on the pitch. There’s got to be a better alternative?

Yep, walking speed which is perfect to show due care was given. But that is the only evidence in this whole debacle.
What are the sum of the damages? Cant worth the hassle?

It is true that Gareth Southgate is a fine human being. think he just needs to rotate some players and take a few more risks.
